  1. depending on what happens with wilson and the rumors of a fully guaranteed contract i'd be comfortable with cam getting 5 years/$75 million fully guaranteed or something like that. at least his cap figure will be exactly the same every year that way.
  2. i guess that's a reference to kaepernick and dalton. think hard about the new CBA and then consider which rounds they were drafted in. also quarterbacks drafted in 2010 (drafted a year before cam since you mentioned it) were selected under a different CBA with different rules and aren't subject to the option system as first round QBs and others are now
  3. ted thompson started off his packers career with two straight non-winning seasons ozzie newsome, widely considered among the elite GMs in the league, took over a ravens team in 2002 that had won a super bowl two years earlier. three of the next five seasons would be losing ones contrasted with two playoff trips, both one and dones. even if gettleman does suck and is an incompetent idiot he's going to be here for several years
  4. can we just retire this argument to the straw man hall of fame already
  5. oakland has $44 million in cap room according to overthecap i've got a good feeling about this
  6. come on oakland you know you want to give him 5 years/$60 million with $20 million guaranteed
  7. i am dead serious and not trying to be a smart ass here: has a big time franchise quarterback ever signed with another team other than the one that drafted him and mentioned "they didn't give me enough weapons" as the reason?
  8. "the panthers didn't deserve to be in the playoffs!" who in the division deserved it more then? considering that this team did it with one hand tied behind its back i think that sort of evens things out.
  9. reminds me of the acquisition of kemoeatu in 2006 for this team "can you imagine kemo and jenks side by side? who's going to be able to run on that?" then week 1 the falcons rushed for like 250 yards lol
  10. him and lavonte david i know they're consensus elite players and they're undeniably among the best at their positions in the league, but it seems like they're just kind of there every time we play them. maybe one of them will have a nice pass breakup or a sack or something but that's it. i can't remember one of them just taking over a game by himself like we've seen luke, thomas davis, or hardy do.
  11. i'm kind of surprised that we haven't heard reports of the panthers pursuing chris hairston. he's a sleeper with upside who could probably be had at a reasonable cost.
  12. nicks, crabtree, and stevie johnson are out there. i don't think it's impossible that something might happen between those three.
  13. i'm not happy about it but i'm not pissed off either because my expectations for this FA period were extremely low.
  14. of all the things you could step on gett's nuts over i don't think i'd pick the draft the guy has whipped out his scouting acumen two drafts in a row and it's a twelve incher
  15. people need to go on wikipedia and look up the drafted players for every year. you can view it by round. when you get past the third round it's mostly a bunch of guys nobody has ever heard of. hell look at the 2014 5th round. bene might have been the best player drafted in that entire round.
  16. bene, tre boston, and aj klein were all selected after the third round. gaffney was basically stolen from us in a technically legal manuever by bill belichick. the guy never played a snap for us so he's basically a null value. gettleman was working with five picks in 2013. let's also not forget that we're talking about a sample size of two drafts.
  17. part of what makes draft picks what they are is the value. you can potentially net somebody who plays at a high value on a cheap contract. brandon marshall has a reported $7.7 million cap figure on the jets' roster this year. you're not giving up a draft pick and getting a free stud skill position player in return.
  18. so two players is all you've got? get on wikipedia and look up the picks other teams made in those rounds. it's mostly a bunch of crap nobody here has ever heard of. gettleman drafted bene benwikere in the fifth round of last years draft by the way.
  19. the elephant in the room in all this, in spite of all the piss and vinegar over dave gettleman, is that ron rivera has proven that he pretty much can't be trusted to play the best 11. the only reason we made the fuging playoffs in the first place* is because injuries sidelined amini silatolu, nate chandler, and deangelo williams and moves were forced in the secondary. *e: outside of the division being garbage before i get my head ripped off
  20. you guys are going to lose your minds when we draft a DE in the first round
  21. hopefully gettledouche doesn't destroy the panthers further by drafting a bunch of day one automatic contributors again
