The NFL should just ditch it tbh. Outside of the legacy games like Thanksgiving and the Thursday night opener that's become an institution I mean. The players hate it and the matchups are usually poop. It seemed as if TNF was usually like a crappy Titans team vs. a crappy Jags team or Rams vs. Cardinals or some other extremely low stakes "rivalry" game nobody cares about every week for years. Maybe if you're a gambler or really into fantasy football or something it's worth your time.

Yeah I smell another 2009/10 Peppers situation. Tag and trades are rare because the player doesn't have to sign the tender and until they do, things are at a standstill. Unless there's a strong possibility of the player being traded somewhere they actually want to go with a fat contract extension waiting for them, they don't have to do poo until they risk missing game checks. Especially if signing an extension with the current team is off the table.
