Mike Macdonald- Meet the Candidate- Part 11 of 12
methodtoll replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Look, I have said from the beginning that I want an young offensive minded coach to take the helm. A guy like Ben Johnson will be awesome buuuuuuut I would not hate MacDonald as our coach because he reminds me a little of John Harbaugh, which is pretty ironic considering that he coaches under him. Not to mention that he has connections with John's brother, who many want as the HC on this board. It would be totally plausible for MacDonald to come in and bring someone from the Michigan staff as OC. Again, I would be ok with this guy as HC -

Not to mention that he has worked under both Harbaughs -
I'd give Evero a chance at HC but change up the whole offensive side

For all that is holy please let this season end GameDay Thread

I've been saying since Reich was fired that we need a young offensive minded coach (I still do for the sake of Bryce) to be be our next HC but I seriously starting to think that maybe we should just keep Evero Ejiro as HC and find a solid OC or maybe go for Mike Macdonald from the Ravens and grab someone from the Michigan staff to be OC since he worked under Harbaugh. -

Hopefully this is a sign that Bryce is improving. Imagine what a competent offensive minded coach can do with Bryce -
Kellen Moore- Meet the Candidate- Part 6 of 12

I'm curious... Where did this speculation that Evero will be HC next year come from? I know several on here want his as HC but are there actual rumors out there that he will be promoted?? -
I've been saying all along that I want a young offensive minded HC for next go around but, I wouldn't be mad if Tepper just made Evero our HC, keep the defensive scheme in tact and try to find a offensive guy to come in and develop Bryce and get the offense back on track.

A dark horse candidate may be Brian Schottenheimer, OC of the Cowboys.... Dan Quinn is getting a lot interest but Schottenheimer has been putting together a solid offense. He would be be one of the "older" candidates out there but has tons of experience. Plus, how cool would it be for him to follow in his dad's footsteps?

Why do I feel like this is what will actually happen? Lol

Honestly, I would love to win out just to stick it to the Bears ... Yeah, they will still have our 1st round pick but at least then we wouldn't give away the #1 overall pick lol

If you want to get technical, John Harbaugh was a Special Teams coach prior to getting the head coach... Still though, Tony Dungy is out of the league so not sure how he is even relevant in this conversation and Mike Tomlin's offenses are struggling and many are calling for his job. This isn't the same league that it was 10-15 years ago, it's not built for defenses to bail out the offense. It's offensive driven league. -

I will admit though, Mike Macdonald of the Ravens might be a good one eventually -

Seifert was a defensive HC, fyi. My problem with hiring a defensive minded HC is that we will get off to a hot start with a good offensive coordinator, and then that OC goes on to be a HC and our offense takes a nose dive. By the way, the only two defensive minded HCs that have won a Superbowl since 06 has been Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll. Face facts, it's an offensive driven league and you really need a good offense to succeed. The right call was going offensive minded HC, we just need a younger coach to adapt to today's offensive style. The only exception I could see us going defensive minded is if we get a DeMeco Ryans type and we could potentially already have that on our team with Evero. -
If you want to get technical, Marty Hurney became GM in 2002 (even though he started in a different capacity with the team before hand) and over saw the hiring of, what became one of the best HCs to grace this team.... John Fox. Funny how all that occurred after a 1-15 season and here we are on that same track again

I would love to see you do a write up about the potential HCs and who they would bring with them as OC and DC

Insight into the coaching search from Jonathan Jones
methodtoll replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also, just to go along with the topic... It is widely believe there is "Mutual Interest" between Panthers Organization and Kellen Moore.... Take it with a grain of salt because I don't know how legit this source is but I am telling you, don't be surprised if Moore winds up being the next coach. -

BREAKING!!: Panthers will go after Ben Johnson

To be fair though, he said no to other teams as well. If he wanted to be a HC for any team last off-season, he could've been one, regardless of the team... But he overall chose to stay with the Lions, which, in my opinion, was a smart thing to get another year under his belt. He may very well go to another team but let's not pretend that he just said no to Carolina. -
More entertaining than the crying Bryce haters?
