Probability Analysis of the Burns and DJ decision

Is Burns really worth backing up a Brinks truck?
OnlyPantherFaninMaine replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hardest pill for me to swallow regarding Burns and our draft history: Love Horn and was very much needed at the time. Hindsight sure, but imagine we had taken Micah Parsons to pair opposite Burns? Would have given us the ability to trade Burns for all of those picks and still have an elite pass rusher on a cheap deal. Yeesh. Always stuck asking “what could have been?” With this team. -
By declining this trade it indicates Fitterer, Morgan, and Co. feel this team doesn’t need a full rebuild. This division will be up for grabs starting this year and well beyond because nobody has their QB of the future. I don’t want to waste years attempting a rebuild when we could be competing in the NFC with a great young QB and the right coaching hire. If you trade Burns now you may as well trade Moore, Chinn, Brown as well. What message does that send the rest of the guys in that locker room? No star player here is going to willingly suffer through years of rebuilding. The much quicker, sustainable, and likely path to success of this team is nailing the QB selection and hiring the right coach.

Might just be the best Panther so far this season to date. Burns may be the only other name in contention that has been as consistent and impactful week in and week out. Trying to think of some others that would be in that conversation but it’s really those two at this point regardless of position.

I hear that man - the hobby as a whole is insanely expensive right now. It peaked during Covid years but still very expensive to buy boxes from Panini directly and boxes are still tough to find sitting on shelves. I paid $250 for this Burns, not exactly a cheap steal but felt fair given the Auto, player, and that it’s a 1/1. I plan to enjoy it for a while… may grade it just to have in a protected slab and then I’ll see what happens with his contract to determine if I’ll let it go or not.

Could be a 2011 Topps Chrome Cam Newton Superfractor. Essentially a 1/1 Cam rookie card from a great product. I personally haven’t seen it or seen it for sale but imagine that would be the priciest Cam/Panther card in existence. There’s the possibility that it is still in a sealed pack sitting in a sealed case somewhere… I have no idea if it has been pulled or not. UPDATE* looks like the pictured 1/1 rookie was pulled in 2011 so it’s in circulation and had been previously sold probably around $20K based on the article.

Hard to say exactly because the card market fluctuates so much and ultimately a card is only worth what someone will pay for it or what someone has recently paid for it and there is a lot of sentimental value in cards for some folks. If I had to guess? Probably a Cam RPA (rookie patch autograph) that is numbered low (few produced) from a high end product like National Treasures. Some Steve Smith rookies are quite expensive these days as well.

Y’all really want to trade Burns? He’s 24 years old and the only pass rusher on this entire roster worth a damn. This team would generate absolutely zero pressure from the edges without Burns. You’re taking a huge risk by gutting this roster of it’s proven talent to acquire draft picks when a new coaching staff wants players and the draft is a crapshoot. He’s scheme versatile and plays a premium position with zero quality depth behind him. I’m extending Burns and paying the premium to do so.

Eddy Pineiro Appreciation Thread
OnlyPantherFaninMaine replied to Newtcase's topic in Carolina Panthers
Caught some of the Commander game on RedZone yesterday and was not the least bit surprised to hear that Joey Slye is still kicking for Ron. I don’t wish that on anyone. -
…miserable like the rest at the moment but felt there were some positives to take away: Ickey looks to be developing and improving every week. Dare I say we finally have a left tackle to build a line with. Horn can play. Rarely targeted and an elite athlete at the corner position with a rare combination of size and speed I’m not sure we’ve ever had at the position. Burns continues to make big plays in big moments and doesn’t quit. I hope we extend him because without Burns this pass rush is just about non-existent. Luvu. DJ Moore. Pineiro. CMC. D Brown. I actually think we have the pieces to attract a head coach worth a damn to get us over the hump assuming we can find a QB. Hats off to the defense today; fought like hell and hung in there despite the offense keeping them on the field all day. We have good players at every level on defense and hope Chinn can get healthy soon.

No personality. No nothing. Just blah.

I feel for the defense. They play hard. They play good enough to win. Then they are on the field 4x longer than the should be and get work down till their breaking point. Feel for CMC and Moore too.
