Add to this that Donte was wildly inconsistent and seemed unhappy before Rhule/Snow got here. I think everyone remembers that team meeting where he blew off all of the vets on Hard Knocks. Last year was the first year he seemed really happy on the sidelines, and this year he's a legit leader on defense. I give Rhule and Snow credit for that. I give Rhule credit for bringing in Snow when everyone was certain it was just cronyism that made him bring Snow with him to the NFL. Boy were those people wrong.

You have to take long shots sometimes, especially when your options are limited. When they pan out you look like a genius, and when they don't, well you look like does Rhule right now. Good thing Tepper doesn't give a poo about your or my opinions on how many chances he should give Rhule. He hired him for exactly the reasons that Casillas pointed out.

Official Panthers at Cardinals GameDay thread
Panther'sBigD replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Figured this was the best place to post this: https://www.arizonasportsfans.com/forum/threads/panthers-cardinals-postgame-thread.454945/page-4 AZ's fans are pretty cool. It was refreshing to see a team doing as well as they are still suffers from the same kind of imposter syndrome psychosis that our fans have always struggled with. They're right about the fact that we were only a mediocre QB away from being a playoff caliber team. Now that we've got Cam and CMC back, and PJ is playing competent football, we can make some noise if we stay healthy. Here are some of my favorite gems from their board: In response to someone saying they'd prefer not having home field advantage because they're better on the road: The Cards are still the class of the NFC, and I'm sure they'll be fine. It was great to see our offense against their defense, and our defense take advantage of key missing offensive starters the way we expect them to. -
They're starting Cam so that they can bring him out first to the roar of the crowd. You can't bring out the backup QB first during intros. He'll probably still share snaps with PJ, and I'm sure he'll be fine with it. Cam wants his team to win above all else. That's what people who call him selfish and me-first completely ignore. Everything he does is aimed at either advancing his team's field position or getting his teammates hyped to ball out.

Where does the Cam "I'm back" moment rank in all time history?
Panther'sBigD replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam's given us so many great moments, this one just seems to be a reminder of those and gives hope of maybe more to come. I'm just glad Rivera's not here to put it on a shirt thus diminishing it's appeal. It's no "Ice Up, Son!" but it was great to see him back playing football and playing football for the Panthers. I am sure he wondered at times whether he would ever play in the NFL again, whether he'd admit that or not. -
Elflein was the top Center in the 2017 draft. He won the Rimington Trophy. He got injured and then bumped to guard when the Vikings drafted Bradbury in the 1st. He's got a legit pedigree and has been dealing with injuries and playing out of position for years now. Hopefully he can end up settling in and return to his former self. That would be huge for us. I don't want to see Paradis play another down for the Panthers. Nice guy, just not a good NFL center.

The deep-ish ball to DJ moore that drew PI….
Panther'sBigD replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
WTF are you all talking about?!?! It hit DJ in the hands even with the DB mugging the poo out of him. I think Fiz is just trolling. Has to be. -
What a lot of you MMQB's are failing to either understand or acknowledge about this entire situation is that you're only able to pat yourselves on the backs this morning because the team was willing to eat poo and own up to its mistakes. THAT is the 'culture' that a lot of you are dragging/mocking in your threads. When Ron was here, he'd beat his team against a rock until it was bloody pulp rather than change course, and in the off chance that he made a change, it was in the last quarter of the season when it didn't matter anyway. Tepper, Rhule and Fitterer are going to make mistakes, and probably some more big ones, but they're willing to own up to them and change course quickly. That type of decision-making typically means more small mistakes in order to avoid the bigger ones. Let's hope that the Cam->Teddy->Sam->Cam fiasco is the biggest one ever.

"Robby Sucks" and "It's all the OL's fault" folks
Panther'sBigD replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ve seen Terrace Marshall pull up on blocks/routes early several times tonight, particularly the interception. PJ has been playing waaaay better than Sam. -
Did Jalen Hurts make the Cam return happen?
Panther'sBigD replied to Luciu5's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tepper probably thought, “If that sorry ass copy can do this to my team with this garbage Eagles offense, imagine what the real Cam could do with our garbage offense!” -
Opinions on who is at fault for Cam's departure??
Panther'sBigD replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the driving force was Rhule. He wanted to establish a new personality for ‘his’ team, and nobody can really out-personality Cam. Cam is the undisputed alpha here. With the questions about Cam’s health and whispers of him wanting a new contract, I completely understand why Rhule decided to part ways w Cam. I like the culture of ‘brotherhood’ that Rhule has been driving home to our players. It seems to be getting traction especially with the defense. However I completely disagree with his decision to not go after a suitable replacement at QB as soon as he knew he wanted to move on from Cam. That’s been a disaster obviously. -

This is extra hilarious considering who you’re related to… -
For the first time in my life and in Carolina Panthers history…
Panther'sBigD replied to Bronn's topic in Carolina Panthers
All we need is a decent game manager at QB and we can compete. Cam is, at the very least, currently capable of that. Aside from an atrocious line, which he overcame pretty much his entire career here, everything else has improved since he was last here. Im super excited that Cam is back. He deserves to end things here on his terms after all he’s given this team. -
Trading for CJ Henderson was a mistake.
Panther'sBigD replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
It seems like Hepcat is just a miserable poster. Even when things are going well, he’s posting about when/how the other shoe will drop. What an awful way to follow a team. -
Cam Newton passed his physical. Meeting with Matt Rhule now.
Panther'sBigD replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lots of revisionist history going on on this board right now. "I LOVE CAM!!!!1!!" LMAO, most of you couldn't wait to get rid of him, and were ripping him just about as bad as you are Sam. And not one of you could beat our worst lineman's 40 time. -
That's what happens when you take away a guy's security blanket. Losing CMC for those weeks was a fatal blow to whatever hopes we had of rehabilitating Sam, at least this season. I don't think they've given up on him, at least on a developmental level, even if it's just delusional on Rhule's part. Darnold should have gone somewhere he could have held a clipboard for a year or two, not somewhere where he'd be asked to put the team on his fragile shoulders. Overall I'm just happy that Cam is back. I believe he can elevate our offense to at least 'mediocre' which is all we really need with our defense.
-
It sounds crazy, but it just might be true.
-
No reason to bash Sam. Guy was a rehab project who got plucked out of a bad situation and dropped right into a worse one. I'm stoked for Cam's return, but I'm not going to poo on Darnold.
-
Agree with all but point 3. I think Cam is probably a half decent starter at this point, but he's nowhere near his old self. He still sees himself as a starter and his personality is that of a starter. I think most teams(rightly) believe that having him sitting behind their starter would be a recipe for drama. A player like Cam isn't going to hold a clipboard on the sideline.
-
I hope he comes back. If he does, they have to play the first few bars of this before he walks out of the tunnel:
-
Tepper will most likely give him at least five years depending on what moves they make this offseason. Rhule made a gamble that didn’t pay off. It was a move that if it worked would have put the franchise rebuild years ahead of time. At worst this puts us back within the normal timeline. The two o linemen turned out to be unsalvageable, but it was worth a shot. It’s not like he imploded the team, despite whats being posted all over this board. Im just guessing of course. Anyone on this board pretending/presuming to know/understand the mind of Tepper is delusional, myself included.
-
I think he knew we'd suck this season on offense, but it's not like he can come out and admit it. We're in a rebuild and they've invested fug all in our offense other than a couple of bad-ish (with hindsight) contracts for Sam and Robby. I'm going to give them one more offseason to see what they prioritize before I grab my pitchfork.
