Face facts, even Tom Brady would have looked bad on your crappy 2020 Jets team. Personally,i like new Panthers QB Sam Darnold and feel he will be able to reach his potential here in Carolina if we give him a decent supporting cast, something he didn't have in New York.

Little did Teddy know he was waving goodbye for the last time to Carolina Panther Fans when he left the field Sunday January 3 2021, following the 33-7 season ending loss to the New Orleans Saints.

https://www.panthers.com/news/panthers-trade-teddy-bridgewater-to-denver Panthers trade Teddy Bridgewater to Denver Darin Gantt CHARLOTTE — Such that there were lingering questions, the Panthers answered them Wednesday. The Panthers cleared the way for new quarterback Sam Darnold to work without any kind of cloud over his head or doubt about his status, trading incumbent starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the Broncos for a 2021 sixth-round pick. Dealing Bridgewater was likely inevitable once the Panthers traded three picks (including a second- and fourth-rounder next year) for the 23-year-old Darnold earlier this month. Bridgewater, 28, started 15 games for the Panthers last year, missing one with a knee injury. He threw for 3,733 yards in 2020, and his 69.1 completion percentage ranked fifth in the league among regular starters. But he had just 15 touchdowns on the season, and faltered late in some games. Of course, blaming all of last year's offensive issues on Bridgewater would be disingenuous. He played in just three games with running back Christian McCaffrey, the last of which was a 33-31 loss at Kansas City which showed what the offense might have been. Bridgewater was 5-0 as a starter in New Orleans in 2019, playing well in relief of Drew Brees. But that never translated the same way in Charlotte, leading them to cut bait a year into the three-year deal he signed last offseason. He won the NFL's 2020 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, given annually to a player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition. Now they have a more clearly defined depth chart, though they're still able to add to the position if the opportunity arises this weekend. The Panthers also have backups P.J. Walker and Will Grier, along with versatile Tommy Stevens, a sometimes tight end. And with the trade, the Panthers now have eight picks in the 2021 NFL Draft (eighth overall, 39th, 73rd, 113th, 151st, 191st, 193rd, 222nd).

We don't know how the Panthers brain trust has currently rated the supposed top five quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft and this certainly would be a major factor if their evaluations have shifted. They might have Darnold ahead of all the QB’s except Lawrence. In that case, they certainly wouldn’t be drafting an inferior QB. I don’t think it’s unanimous that everyone believes Darnold looked his best with the Jets. History shows many super bowl winning QB’s were given up on by their original teams, but became winners when they went to good teams. Steve Young. Brett Favre. Jim Plunkett. Kurt Warner. Drew Brees. It will, happen again. Unless you’re out there thinking the Jets are a sound organization. I’d say they are the exact type of organization that would get rid of a great QB, and then watch him win elsewhere. I don’t remember anyone’s jaw hitting the floor when Tampa Bay gave up on Steve Young, and most people had never heard of Brett Favre when Atlanta gave up on him. New England was the worst franchise in the NFL when they gave up on Jim Plunkett. Everyone thought all those QB’s were busts.

I cannot agree with some of Chris Simms picks. He has OT Penei Sewell,Oregon going as the # 7 pick, which may be about right but has OT Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech #13 and OT Rashawn Slater,Northwestern #20. I personally want us to stay put at # 8, hoping OT Penei Sewell drops to us. If he does not drop to #8 then draft OT Rashawn Slater. In the event we trade back, i want us to take the best available CB or OT Christian Darrisaw, the choice would depend on how far we traded back.

Steve Smith Draft day '01. "No, he's a little guy"

" ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. had Moss ranked as the fifth-best receiver and Smith at No. 18." Why does Mel Kiper's evaluation not surprise me? -
LTs & arm length (basically: This draft's OTs are great but...)
KatsAzz replied to saX man's topic in Carolina Panthers
Long arms versus short arms is a bunch of hog wash. It’s often argued that guys with longer arms are better able to keep defenders at bay and that a player with short arms simply can’t be successful. This is especially confusing when considering that there is no real consensus on what are considered “long” or “short” arms. I quite often see a scouting report where 34” arms are called long, while 33 ¼” arms are considered short by the same scouting service. Look at a ruler and measure out ¾ of an inch. Does it seem logical that such a small distance makes such a big difference in holding off defenders? -
Sounds great. I love me some spaghetti.

The Panthers have seven picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, (eighth overall, along with 39, 73, 113, 151, 193, and 222.) Thursday night 4/29/21 should be an exciting night for Panthers fans as we kick back, watch the 2021 NFL Draft and hope our brain trust work some magic with their selections.

Making the move for Sam Darnold comes at a time when there was little in the way of certainty about the Panthers' chances of drafting a quarterback, even if they found one they loved. The Jaguars are locked in on Clemson's Trevor Lawrence, and the Jets seem close to that level of certainty regarding Wilson. With the 49ers just trading three first-rounders and a third to get to the No. 3 spot, that suggests there's a quarterback there they feel strongly about. With the fourth (Atlanta) and seventh (Detroit) picks held by teams with some question about the future of the position, there's no way to guarantee the Panthers could draft one of the top five prospects (including Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Mac Jones).

The “Deep OT class” may not be as deep at LT in scouts eyes
KatsAzz replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I had that same thought and it could be a matter of concern since they didn't make the RT/LT switch last year. However, if Moton expects to be paid LT money he better be able to play the position if called on. -

Trader be aware. Watch how often teams do the dead opposite of what they should, give away fistfuls of picks to move up and grab a single star prospect. Overconfidence in their own judgment clouds their thinking, or sometimes it’s just a simple case of seeing a player “they lust after". When a team packages too many picks to trade up for a single player, it hurts a team for years. It has to turn out to be a home run, and even then, you’re still robbing your team of infrastructure.

Slater review as a nfl left tackle plus link on all tackles
KatsAzz replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am not sure Jenkins athletic profile projects well to the left side of the line but more so to the right side tackle slot where we presently have Morton. With Jenkins mean streak, mauling style and pass protection, i could also see him as one whale of an offensive guard. -
Former Jets scout Daniel Kelly on Trey Lance
KatsAzz replied to mccjeff's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is no way i agree with Daniel Kelly on his brutal evaluation. Trey Lance may need a little time to develop further but he has all the talent and physical tool to obtain a high upside. -

I like Tyson Campbell, Georgia S/CB in the 2nd Rd as well. -
A big shout out to MHS831 for the research and time he put into his great post. If Kadarius Toney,Florida WR is gone when we pick 2nd, I like Anthony Schwartz Auburn WR or Tyson Campbell Georgia CB/S. 3rd Rd i like Walker Little Stanford OT and/or Royce Newman Miss. G/T.

I think the Panthers will be staying put at No. 8 overall at this point, taking an offensive lineman unless they get an offer to good to refuse. The Falcons, who are currently slated at No. 4 overall, are another team that could trade down come draft night. If not, the Panthers might be the next team quarterback-needy franchises approach with a trade offer.

I want us to select the best corner back or safety that is available when we pick in the second round. Often a player or two will fall from being an expected first round pick to the early second round. Here's hoping that's the case this year and we can luck up, cash in.

The opportunity to add a player of Pitts' caliber is one that would be hard for Atlanta to pass up. Adding Pitts to an offense that already has Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Hayden Hurst and Russell Gage as pass-catching weapons would make Atlanta's offense one of the best in the NFL. Along with Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, Pitts has a chance to become the biggest game-changer in the 2021 NFL Draft.

https://www.tennesseetitans.com/team/players-roster/daquan-jones/ Biography PRO: Seeking a big, physical and versatile defensive lineman, the Titans selected Penn State's DaQuan Jones in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Since then, he has become one of the mainstays of the Titans defensive lineup, appearing in all 16 games in four of his first six seasons, including every game in 2018 and 2019. Jones offers an impressive combination of size, athleticism, intelligence and power. The 6-foot-4-inch, 322-pounder earned a full-time role as a 3-4 defensive end by his second season but has the ability to play multiple spots on the line. He was signed to a new multi-year contract extension in 2018.
