  1. The good thing about the combine is that you can compare athletes at the same position doing the same drills in the same place on the same surface at the same time. That can be valuable because there is no change in the testing conditions. What do you do in the NFL combine? Tests/evaluations include: 40-yard dash. Bench press (225 lb repetitions) Vertical jump. Broad jump. 20-yard shuttle. 3 cone drill. 60-yard shuttle. Position-specific drills.
  2. It would be good for the Charlotte area and the local sports media would probably be able to do more coverage on the event.
  3. Perryman does quality as a pretty significant upgrade at a position that was a point of need for us. Jermaine Carter did a respectable enough job at middle linebacker once Tahir Whitehead was finally benched last season. That said, Perryman has a far more impressive resume, notably his skills around the ball. Perryman is a quality linebacker who should definitively improve our young defense that needs a little more experience.
  4. Horn wins defensive rookie of the year CMC makes the pro bowl DJ Moore will be a top ten 2021 receiver Brown improves by getting more sacks Darnold leads Panthers to 9-8, just miss getting in the playoffs
  5. They may be Atlanta's two best backups at Defensive tackle as well.
  6. Darnold could improve a great deal with this change of scenery, but if he’s going to face consistent pressure then his ceiling as a quarterback is going to remain below-average at best. The question is if the Panthers’ new-look offensive line can keep Darnold upright often enough to unlock his potential. On paper, it’s far from a guarantee. Taylor Moton might be the NFL’s best right tackle, if not the most underrated one. We also have a pair of respectable projected starters at right guard and center with John Miller and Matt Paradis. The left side of the line is where things get really dicey.
  7. I am excited because Darnold is young and talented, but we've now seen him in the NFL for almost 40 games and his raw abilities have rarely generated steady, high-level play. And many have pointed to the pressure Darnold faced with the Jets as a factor outside of his control when explaining why he flopped to start his NFL career, but he was actually much closer to league average under pressure than he was from a clean pocket in 2020. The improved situation with us should show a more respectable Darnold than someone who was in the running for the worst starting quarterback in the league last season. He has too much natural ability as an anticipatory thrower to be that bad again.
  8. The biggest holes we had heading into the draft were at cornerback, left tackle, guard, safety and receiver. The Panthers did a good job addressing most of those needs. But safety is still a question mark after Tre Boston’s release. Although the Panthers have added depth there, there’s no guaranteed starter opposite of Juston Burris.
  9. Those are some interesting trade swaps that just might succeed. Like always, salaries would be paramount in any trade or swap.
  10. The Hornets are currently in a win very soon mode, so considering the fact they may be able to trade for someone cheaper, like Myles Turner, it is possible that Porzingis may be a second option.
  11. It is tough to imagine another team even offering a fourth round pick for Crosby, thus making it quite difficult for Detroit to part ways with him. Offensive linemen are key to the success of any offense, and losing Crosby may not be good for Detroit's offense should things not go as planned with players higher up on the depth chart. If Detroit simply allows him to play out his contract, a team may offer up starter money when Crosby becomes a free agent, earning Detroit a coveted compensatory pick.
  12. Thanks SBBlue. . Happy Fathers Day to you too.
  13. Thanks. Happy Fathers Day and First Day Of Summer to you jbland.
  14. When a team has speed at receiver, a lot of cornerbacks, whatever system they are in, they’re probably not gonna press, so that opens up the quick passes underneath. It opens up a lot of things, because a lot of defenses and a lot of safeties, they want to back up. They tend to play back because they know the speed that you have, which allows tight ends or other receivers on underneath routes or even tailbacks. It opens up so much more when you got speed because a lot of guys start to back up and create that cushion in that space underneath.
  15. Here is a good article pertaining to 5 NFL Super Stars making a comeback in the 2021 season. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/top_five_2021_nfl_comeback_player_of_the_year_candidates/s1_127_35184770
  16. Congratulations are extended to Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball who was named the NBA's Rookie of the Year, capping a stellar first season. I just hope the Hornets continue to build around him and not let his vast talents go by the way side.
  17. The soon to be 29 year old Tre Boston started all 16 games for the Panthers in 2020, compiling 95 tackles and one INT. It looks like his skills have faded somewhat because he a had a down season by his previous standards, particularly struggling in coverage on the back end of the defense. Boston allowed a career-high 69.2 reception percent for 319 yards and three TDs, per Pro Football Focus.
  18. Good Luck Stumpy with your idea/plan to make custom stickers for other dumb "digital pop art*" that you make in your spare time. Admire your talent.
  19. In short, if Le' Veone Bell is angry that Andy Reid wouldn’t put him on the field, he should already realize that, at least at present, no one else wants him on the field either. His last three seasons were a year-long holdout, a miserable year with the Jets in ’19 (with a 3.2 yards/carry average) and then last year’s forgotten season with the Chiefs (in which he put up 63 carries for 254 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns). At this point, you have to ask why anyone would come calling.
  20. Donte Jackson and Jaycee Horn have the potential to completely shift how our defense operates. They are fast, athletic, and have no trouble taking the best opposing receiver and dealing with them accordingly. Jackson looked a lot like a true No. 1 corner after the bye week once he finally rid himself of the toe problem that made things extremely difficult over the first half of the campaign. This year is a big one for Jackson, who is heading into the final year of his deal. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, his coordinator is confident the former second-round pick can make the necessary strides and become one of the league’s best next time around. Getting Jackson help was absolutely imperative this offseason.
  21. Rhule said the Panthers want Darnold to be more mobile in the pocket and make plays with his feet. That’s different than what the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder endured playing with the Jets, where he was considered more of a drop-back, pocket passer. “He comes from a different system (with the Jets) where they were kind of static, and we’re more of a move up-in-the-pocket, slide-in-the-pocket, throw-in-rhythm type of a team,” Rhule said. “We don’t really want him holding the ball. We want him to play in progression and play in timing. And that’s new to him.” Said Darnold: “If an edge rusher comes through or someone comes unblocked I am going to try to make him miss and makes plays that way.”
