Part of the plan to move Chinn deeper to safety was to help get him away from potential blockers and have more space to fly to the ball. Another factor was him being a smaller linebacker. It's not typical you see 218- or 220-pound linebackers in the NFL so that definitely played a part. And as far as making plays, I feel Chinn can make them at either position. When he's used as a linebacker he's a little closer to the ball and a little closer to the line of scrimmage. When he's a safety, he can also make plays on the ball in the air.

The issue for the Panthers is they’ve already previously committed to paying Darnold the same amount when they picked up his fifth-year option after trading for him a year ago. This is why if the Browns offer to cover some of Mayfield’s salary at the time of the trade, the Panthers may be more inclined to talk. Being willing to pay a portion of the salary will only increase trade offers from interested teams. It comes down to what the Browns value more–draft picks or cap space. Depending on whether they feel Deshaun Watson will be suspended for any part of the 2022 season, the Browns could go either way. Preserving the cap space allows a stronger roster to be built this season, while more draft picks keeps building toward the future, or a push to compete in 2023. As far as what type of draft picks the Browns can get back in a Mayfield trade, the Panthers don’t currently have much to part with, but trading down from No. 6 while collecting a few more assets could change things. Basically, if the Panthers trade down in the first round, keep an eye out for a Mayfield trade to be announced shortly after, unless they land a QB. Another potential scenario is one that has the Browns being stubborn, not willing to pay Mayfield’s salary, choosing to unload him while paying a team draft picks to take on his contract. In this case, the Browns may have to package one of their two third-round selections (78 or 99) to coax a team in agreeing to such a trade. Maybe they even tie the compensation into Mayfield’s 2022-23 performance, whether it be based on playing time, wins, or starts. Any trade for Mayfield should likely include some of these provisions as his season could go either way. Still, for a team hoping to add competition to their QB room, Mayfield remains one of the best options available and he won’t cost a team a first round pick, but he does impact the cap in a fairly large way. There’s no telling what a final trade will look like. Since it’s taking so long for the Browns to find a partner, maybe the final price is something minuscule, like a sixth or seventh-round pick, simply to shed his salary and get Mayfield off the roster, avoiding a potentially awkward locker room.

I hope the Panthers have learned their lessons and will stop obtaining rejected and retreaded quarterbacks that other teams don't want. However,based on some of the poor decisions they have made in the past, it scares me that they not have.

How often does Mel Kiper get it right? Hardly the case. A little internet research turns up this gem from coldhardfootballfacts.com; over the course of the last four drafts (2005-2008) our boy Mel has compiled an abysmal record of 32 correct picks out of 127 in the first round or about 25.2 percent correct. Who is the most accurate mock draft person? With so many opinions, not everyone can be right. However, one particular writer from Sharp Football Analysis is statistically proven to be the most accurate mock drafter over the last five years. According to The Reports, Brendan Donahue is that writer. He has a 44.8 average over the last five years.

I can see the Panthers wanting to give Darnold at least one more chance to prove they were not as inept as it has appeared by signing him and giving up draft choices. It is highly unlikely the Panthers will be a playoff team this year, so that gamble may not be as bad as it would appear.

WHICH TEAMS’ DECISIONS COULD IMPACT THE PANTHERS? Every team ahead of the Panthers. The Jaguars, the Lions, the Texans, the Jets and the Giants all hold the top five picks in the draft. All are wild cards. No. 1 Jacksonville: The only thing that seems to be certain about the first five picks is that former defensive end Aidan Hutchinson will be off the board by the time the Panthers pick at No. 6, and many people have him going first overall. Neal and Ekwonu have also been mocked as the No. 1 overall pick, too, but that became less likely after the Jaguars placed the franchise tag on left tackle Cam Robinson last month. So let’s assume Jaguars go Hutchinson first. No. 2 Detroit: It’s hard to imagine that the Lions believe Jared Goff is the long-term answer, so do they go quarterback here? Maybe. Some draft experts have predicted the Lions will take Malik Willis. But there’s still a lot of uncertainty with this quarterback class, and many people will say taking a quarterback second overall is this draft is a reach. The Lions desperately need to fix their defense and generate a pass rush. Travon Walker is there and has been climbing up the draft boards. Whether the Lions take a quarterb ack or defensive end would be in the Panthers’ favor because it pushes back one of the top offensive tackles. No. 3 Houston: OK, this might be one of the biggest mysteries of the draft because Houston has holes on the offensive line and defensive line. So they could go a number of ways. No. 5 New York Giants: This is the biggest pick to watch. The Giants have the fifth and seventh picks. And they’ll trade one of those picks, perhaps to a quarterback-needy team. This is so sad. R.I.P. Dwayne Haskins. Prayers are extended to his family and loved ones.

Not saying he will be a bust but Evan Neal may not project to be a super great left tackle like some are hoping. A lot of pro scouts say an NFL team could get away with Neal at left tackle, but he would be a more dominant player at right tackle or guard. At the Senior Bowl, sources from a couple of NFL teams with top-10 picks said they would not play Neal at left tackle in the pros. Neal is an overwhelming blocker in the ground game and capable as a pass blocker.

The same people on here trashing Tepper are the same people that trashed Richardson and would be the same people that would be on here trashing a new owner if we got one.

Tepper repeating the same thing that everyone has heard numerous times would be a waste of his time and the people listening. Going a step further,why should David Tepper be expected to provide this complex when the property, income, and tourism tax will go into the state coffers and not his bank account. My guess is that Tepper will eventually provide money to see it finished but Rock Hill is the party at fault in this deal for not paying the share they promised. A business deal gone bad caused by them. Tepper haters can try falsely painting what happened any way they like but the facts speak for themselves.

Why should he come out and address this certain issue in public when numerous articles have been writen and talked about on radio and tv explaining in detail the complete Panthers vs Rock Hill project delay?

The past has nothing to do with this particular deal. The fact is Tepper has lived up to his end of the bargain and Rock Hill has not. You seem to be letting your personal dislike for Tepper cloud your view of an agreed on business deal that was kept on his end of the bargain..

Exactly. All this hate i see here directed toward Tepper is just wrong. He has lived up to his end of this bargain and Rock Hill has not. Let's try placing the blame where it belongs. The Carolina Panthers have put a pause on construction of their headquarters in Rock Hill, South Carolina, saying the city hasn't met its financial obligations. City officials say they have not issued bonds yet to meet their financial obligation. What did officials there say exactly are their reasons for pausing construction? And what will it take to restart it? Well, they're saying what you said at the start of this segment, which is that the city has not issued the bonds, has not made good on its promises to help pay for the streets and other infrastructure around this project. And in essence, they're saying that this has gone on for long enough and they're going to stop — "pause" is the word they used — they're going to stop building until they get this resolved. And on the flip side,, you've had the city at first saying, "Well, we haven't missed any payments. We've done what we're supposed to do." And then later saying, "Well, yeah, we did not issue these bonds." So, there's still a little bit of a question as to exactly what's driving the lack of investment or making good on the commitment that was struck with the Panthers originally. So, the idea was that Rock Hill would contribute roughly $225 million worth of road improvements, sewer, water — all the things that need to happen to build a big project on a piece of land that has been unoccupied; it has not been commercially used. And those things have not happened yet. The bonds would have paid for those projects, and so the Panthers kept building. They are 20 months into a 36-month construction schedule. They say they've spent about $170 million so far working on their headquarters. In essence, they're pulling the plug and saying, "We have to fix this somehow, some way." And a lot of people that are watching this — both near and far — are saying, "Well, we might have a little bit of bluffing or a little bit of a game of chicken. We'll see how this turns out." But so far, that's where it stands.

The Eagles may have made the smart move here. If these picks aren't protected. This isn't a deep class especially in key skill positions. The Saints go into the season with no strong QB and no Sean Payton. They could end up with a much better than 16 pick in a deeper class. If Hurts doesn't show improvement in year 2 you can bundle two picks next year and move up. If he does meet potential you can start building a WR group from a greater selection. I think it's still too early to dismiss Hurts but having these picks will certainly help if he's not the answer. The Saints will really have to hit on these two picks from this year. They won't have the the depth of picks to bolster their roster in the coming years. This is the kind of deal that could get a GM in trouble.
