I think Wilks has been told he has the job. (Speculation)
KatsAzz replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
My exact feelings. I don't think Tepper will commit to anything until well after the season is over and all the checks, balances and interviews pertaining to possible head coaches have been thoroughly evaluated. -
ladypanther,I think the whole Huddle Forum feels the same pain and let down as you after the Panthers were manhandled and blew their most important game of the year.

If the Panthers cannot get a tight end in the draft that is an upgrade over the ones they have, I hope a good one is available in free agency or obtained in a trade.

Eddy Pineiro playing well enough to stick around?
KatsAzz replied to Captroop's topic in Carolina Panthers
I believe that the Panthers will decide to keep Eddy Pineiro who doesn't have an injury history like Gonzalez. -
This could be a keepsake in time.
-
I was somewhat surprised because I thought our offensive line was better than it showed Sunday after seeing how they got pushed around and beat up pretty bad.

Hornets vs Nuggets. This one might be a blood bath

That is a plus, no doubt!!! -
Lmao.... Panthers still control their own destiny....

I could easy see the Panthers losing at least two of the last three remaining games with the Lions, Bucs and Saints. -

Plus, they seem to have a lack patience that's causing them to shoot to quickly. -
Wilks seemed to have the bull by the horns and was heading the team in the right direction until the bull hit a brick wall today and may have ended his future as the Panthers 2023 Head Coach.
-
To sum it up in two words : "Bad Coaching"!
-
This coaching staff is proving that they cannot adjust on the fly but want to be stubborn and stick to an original game plan, even if it's not working.
-
So true!!!

I feel your assumption is probably 100% correct. -
Certainly seems the Panthers have a history of finishing seasons in a position where they just miss the top cream of the crop talent in the NFL Draft.
-
Even if the Panthers presently had better offensive weapons, the current game plans the coaches come up with wouldn't use them to full advantage.
-
The bad part is that the Panthers didn't just get beat, they got destroyed at home by a team that shouldn't have been any better than them. A total let down from top to bottom.
-
Bingo!! That sums it up rather nicely. Wilks just plays it to conservative to suit me and that will not get you wins when playing real good teams. There is a time to be conservative and a time to open the play book up and I am not sure Wilks and his staff know when to do that.

The Panthers lost cornerback CJ Henderson early in the game to an ankle injury, and the Steelers took advantage. The passing game Pittsburgh did get from an efficient Mitch Trubisky was largely in the direction of replacement cornerback Keith Taylor Jr.. That was what happened on a pair of third downs late in the fourth quarter when the Steelers were able to effectively ice the game.

Wilks is like a teams back up QB that wins his first game or two and looks great until the league figures him out.
-
The team seemed flat and playing with a low energy most of the first half.
-
There was so much blame to spread around that it would be hard to pin point just one. It starts with Head Coach Wilks and the coaching staff that made the game plan and whose job it was to have the team prepared and playing in more of an upbeat manner. Even though the coaches share a lot of the blame, a big blame can filters on down to both the offensive and defensive groups who seemed flat and a step or two out of position on a lot of the plays, especially in the first half..
-
That is probably correct . Sadly, Young and Stroud will probably be gone and that could leave Levis and Richardson available. I feel sure some may not agree but I like Richardson, who is somewhat of a project but has a tremendous upside.
-
I could easy live with Levis being the Panthers 1st rd choice. However, with a #7 pick there would be lots of options, it's not like the Panthers don't need help all across the board.
-
I would like to feel that way but common logic forces me to realize that the Panthers are currently not a playoff caliber team. I really wanted them to make the playoffs, but now it is becoming apparent it would be in their best interest to fogus on the 2023 draft and forget a playoff berth that seems to have passed.
