Eight Carolina Panthers Who Could Have a Break Out 2021 Season
KatsAzz replied to KatsAzz's topic in Carolina Panthers
"If he avoids mistakes and takes advantage of a far-superior receiver corps, Panthers QB Sam Darnold has a chance to go from being a fringe starter to a top-15 QB". I think all of us can agree that we will be pulling for Sam Darnold to show he is the type of elite NFL QB the Panthers need become a play off caliber team. -
After catching a couple of passes in his late-season cameo, TE Dan Arnold made a huge leap last season, with 31 catches for 438 yards (14.1 yards per catch), and four touchdowns.

Definitely got chills from watching this! The confidence Matt, Scott and Tepper showed in the war room is awesome! That this confidence was shown is contagious! Listen to the guys they drafted and picked up, even Sam! For them to be the best version of themselves they need that confidence and Carolina Panthers are doing it! Gotta love it!

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/watch-panthers-inside-look-dan-211451823.html Watch: Panthers give an inside look at Dan Arnold negotiations Carolina Panthers If nothing else, the Carolina Panthers lead the NFL in good content. They’re the online gift to football fans that keeps on giving and continued to do so on Sunday. As a bonus treat off the release of their “Panthers Confidential” feature, the team’s social media squad posted an intriguing look into the start of Carolina’s free-agent negotiations for tight end Dan Arnold. The clip shows Panthers director of player negotiations and salary cap manager Samir Suleiman take an early price check with Arnold’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, as general manager Scott Fitterer looks on. Despite Suleiman’s insistence that he wouldn’t be willing to move off his initial two-year, $4 million offer, Arnold ended up landing a two-year, $6 million contract back on March 19. The deal guaranteed the 26-year-old $4.5 million, more than the Panthers’ first number entirely, with a $2.54 million signing bonus.

I am somewhat concerned, like many others about the amount of work CMC gets. However, I think the reason the backfield got so much work was because Rhule/Brady didn’t have the dynamic QB play they were looking for. If Darnold can ball out, maybe the backfield touches slide a little in favor of WRs and TEs, then Chubba can get some touches, even with a healthy CMC.

Teddy on Joe Brady (In response to prior comments on practice)
KatsAzz replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Teddy Bridgewaters clear lack of conviction to get it done with the game on the line was glaring. This was matched by a concerning regression down the stretch that eventually saw the Panthers put him out of his misery by the benching in Week 17 against the Saints. Could the coaching staff have done more? Probably. And they no doubt will with a little more experience under their belts. They are one year into coaching in the NFL and mistakes were undoubtedly made. But if Bridgewater is as smart as i think he is he will not blame others for his own failings. -
One of the best ways Sam Darnold can succeed with the Panthers this season is if his offensive line lives up to their end of the bargain. If the Panthers offensive line falls flat on its face, then it could be some sort of a disaster for Darnold. He is probably low on confidence following his time with the Jets and if he goes through some early jitters, things might turn ugly. However, if the Panthers get themselves a strong foundation and allow Darnold more of a chance to go through his progressions than he ever had in New York, then I can see him having a good year and living up to his # 3 overall draft pick potential.

How much is the subscription after the $1 a month for 6 months?

"The best thing that Brady can do is create easy throws for Darnold, which should be quite easy. All-world tailback Christian McCaffrey, provided he stays healthy, can put up 100 receptions in a season, especially with a 17th game added to the schedule." "Combine McCaffrey’s unique receiving ability with the likes of DJ Moore, Robby Anderson and rookie Terrace Marshall Jr. at wide receiver, and the Panthers have a formidable set of weapons on paper."

Thanks for the heads up.

To me personally, the Falcons just down the road in Atlanta are our biggest rivals. I have often traveled to Atlanta for the Panthers vs Falcons games and come away with a feeling of sadness and remorse. Please watch the video and notice how unselfishly Cam, gives up his body attempting to make a first down.

The fact that Grier was inactive for nine of the final eleven games of the 2020 season seems to be a good indicator that he has some work to do in order to leapfrog P.J. Walker for the No. 2 spot. With OTAs beginning, Grier will need to make the most out of every single rep he gets.

How much of the Jets performance was really on Darnold?
KatsAzz replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sam Darnold has yet to be protected by a competent offensive line, he has yet to throw a single pass to a true # 1 receiver, and the Jets never paired him with a coach or an offensive coordinator who had been able to build an offense around his strengths. The mistakes started with Todd Bowles, who entrusted Jeremy Bates as the offensive coordinator to develop Darnold. They continued with Mike Maccagnan, who never made building an offensive line a priority, whiffed on landing him a big-time weapon with the disastrous signing of Le’Veon Bell, and recommended hiring coach Adam Gase. The Jets let his favorite weapon, Robby Anderson, leave for a reasonable price. And Gase, in 22 games as head coach never showed even a tiny sign that he made Darnold better with his offensive schemes. And of course, CEO Christopher Johnson oversaw the team through all of it and allowed it to happen. Darnold took the playing field at that critical juncture in his career with so little talent around him that it makes it difficult to evaluate him properly. -
The Falcons likely don't feel that converting a portion of Jones' 2021 salary into signing bonus before a trade to lessen the cap hit for the acquiring team like the Panthers did with Teddy Bridgewater is warranted given their own cap problems. Obviously, teams could create cap room by restructuring contracts in order to be in position to handle Jones' 2021 salary.

I will trust that Mitch Kupchak too.

Stanley Cup Playoffs: Round One, Game 6
KatsAzz replied to Harbingers's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Carolina Hurricanes will defeat the Nashville Predators. Count on it. -
It is hard to envisage a scenario where the Panthers would be better off without Anderson next season. His previous relationship with QB Sam Darnold will be crucial in Darnolds pursuit of proving his doubters wrong, so even though he might leave for nothing next spring it would be wise to keep him on the roster to assist with this transition, at the very least.

Brady Christensen showcased his athleticism at his Pro Day. His 10-4 broad jump is an all-time mark for offensive tackles. He added to that with 30 reps on the bench, a 34″ vertical jump and a 4.89 40-yard dash. The Panthers need athleticism and versatility along the offensive line and that’s exactly what Christensen will bring.
-
At 24 years old, Christensen is the type of prospect who can come in and immediately contribute. His 31 1/4″ arms may preclude him from a full-time job as a tackle in the NFL, but Christensen can jump inside to guard and be an immediate starter for the Panthers.

Sam Darnold talks about The Adjust To Charlotte And The Panthers
KatsAzz replied to KatsAzz's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel sure Sam Darnold has been told over and over by his coaches that every single thing he says and does will be analyzed and scrutinized by the media and the NFL, the place where his football dreams can come true and should hold back on any controversial subject that comes up. I can't see were Darnolds personality would or should be a problem for an NFL team or its fanbase. Some, if not all, NFL teams want franchise type players, quarterbacks specifically, who don't rock the boat. "Better to be seen than heard." -
Former NFL LB makes Bold Statement on Panthers Defense
KatsAzz replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Panthers boasted a bland and average defense last year, ranking 18th in points allowed, so i look for a sharp upward trend this year. I like the CB Jaycee Horn pick at No. 8 overall but i was concerned that we didn’t address defense again until the fifth round, grabbing DT Daviyon Nixon and CB Keith Taylor Jr. However,I thought we did well with the free agency crop of DE Morgan Fox, CB A.J. Bouye, LB Denzel Perryman and DT DaQuan Jones being the most significant of the signings. While Horn and Bouye will give us a strong CB pair the Saftey and Interior Defensive Line spots leave me a little concerned. I am hoping they will be addressed further when other teams start making wholesale cuts. -
Robby Anderson had a 1,000-yard season for the first time in his career last year but it remains to be seen if he can repeat that this year. There is a lot riding on the 2021 campaign for Anderson, which is the last one on the two-year deal he signed last spring that included $20 million fully guaranteed. The Panthers brought in Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith during the NFL Draft to further boost their options at wide receiver, so the pressure will be on the 30 year Anderson to get the job done and earn himself a big payday in the process. Depending on how much money they can free up, he might even price himself out of reach for the Panthers. If Anderson can prove he isn’t just a one trick, 1,000 yard receiver, there will be more than a few teams looking in his direction if he's allowed to test the free-agent market next year. The Panthers had to make a choice between Curtis Samuel and Taylor Moton this year, which wasn’t that difficult. If the same happens between Anderson and Donte Jackson, my guess is they would chose Jackson..
