  1. This is the " Fan Nation" projection for the panthers 2021 starting offensive line. https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/gm-report/projecting-the-panthers-starting-offensive-line-for-2021 INSIDE THE DEN+NEWSGM REPORTGAME DAYSI.COM A look at who might make up the starting combination for Carolina up front this season. Carolina had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL in 2020 and made several roster moves this offseason in hopes of improving the overall play of the unit. There are still question marks at several spots on the line and whether or not improvement takes place is to be seen. So without further adieu, here's a look at what the starting offensive line could look like in 2021. Left Tackle - Cameron Erving Russell Okung remains a free agent and does not appear to be re-signing with Carolina meaning that the Panthers will have their 8th different starting left tackle in as many years when this season begins. I'm not putting Erving in the starting role because I believe in him but more so because he will be the best equipped to win the job out of training camp. However, I do expect rookie Brady Christensen to take over the starting job at some point throughout the regular season. Backup: Brady Christensen Left Guard - Pat Elflein Elflein is very capable of being a legitimate starter up front but does need to clean up some areas of his game, including pass protection. After a strong rookie season in 2017 lining up at center, he took quite a step back in 2018, which forced the Vikings to move him over to guard. In 2019, Elflein allowed eight sacks and committed eight penalties - certainly numbers that need to trim down. Backup: Deonte Brown Center - Matt Paradis Paradis was a little more consistent in 2021 but still hasn't produced anywhere near the way he did with the Denver Broncos. Then again, he's really the only option at center if you take out former undrafted free agent Sam Tecklenburg. I expect Pat Elflein to serve as the backup since he started there for Minnesota at the beginning of his career. Backup: Pat Elflein Right Guard - John Miller He may not have had the type of year he or the Panthers would have liked to of had but there's potential there for Miller to develop into a quality starter. Now that Miller has a full year under his belt in this offense and a year working with offensive line coach Pat Meyer, I expect him to take a big leap. Backup: Dennis Daley or David Moore Right Tackle - Taylor Moton If there is one place on the offensive line the Panthers don't have to worry about, it's at right tackle with Taylor Moton. He will be playing under the franchise tag in 2021 but will almost certainly be getting a long-term deal worked out with the team soon. Not only is right tackle in a good spot because of Moton but also because of Trent Scott's ability to step in and be productive if called into action. Backup: Trent Scott
  2. If a person had some rental houses now would be the ideal time to sell them.
  3. Yes,the housing market in the Charlotte area has gone insane
  4. Some of the knocks on CB Troy Pride leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft were a lack of aggressiveness, both in terms of attacking the ball in coverage as well as attacking in the running game as a tackler. Pride is going to need to develop more of an edge rather quickly with the Panthers, who are going to be all about speed and toughness under Matt Rhule. He has all of the raw tools and athleticism to be effective, but needs to prove he can be physical and aggressive enough? Time will tell.
  5. “Detectives believe the suspects ... broke into and rummaged through several unlocked vehicles in the driveway before gaining access to the garage where the McLaren was parked. The suspects drove the vehicle out of the garage and were traveling toward Providence Road when the crash occurred,” officials said.
  6. https://www.yahoo.com/news/two-teens-arrested-connection-break-120329653.html Two teens arrested in connection with break in at home of former Panther Thomas Davis The Union County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested two juveniles in connection with a break in and car theft at the home of former Carolina Panther Thomas Davis Sr. on Tuesday. Investigators say the two suspects are ages 15 and 17 and their names are not being released due to their status as juveniles. The arrests were announced early Friday on Facebook. “The two suspects involved in the highly publicized breaking and entering of the Davis residence earlier this week are now in custody at a juvenile detention facility,” the post said. “A UCSO deputy and other members of a US Marshal’s Task Force ... tracked the two suspects to a residence on Touchstone Lane in Charlotte.” Detectives report they also found “a dark colored SUV” suspected to have been used during the break in at Davis’ home. The SUV had a “green paint transfer at this residence,” officials said. The McLaren 720S was found crashed in a gated Weddington community, officials say. “The unintended paint transfer occurred after the suspects stole a green McLaren 720S from the Davis residence but somehow became entangled with the getaway car before exiting the residence,” officials said. The former Panthers linebacker posted videos and photos on social media of two people he said broke into his home and wrecked one of his prized collector cars. “If any of you recognize either one of these idiots that decided it was good idea to come into my home and go through all of my cars and even steal and wreck my McLaren,” he said. “I’m offering a cash reward for anyone that can help identify who these guys are!” the retired linebacker posted to his 229,000 Instagram followers on Tuesday morning. The thieves wrecked the car at about 5:30 a.m., about a mile from Davis’ home in the gated Stratford on Providence neighborhood in Weddington, officials said in a news release. Davis and his wife, Kelly, told investigators they discovered “most of the vehicles in their driveway had open doors and trunks,” officials said. “Detectives believe the suspects ... broke into and rummaged through several unlocked vehicles in the driveway before gaining access to the garage where the McLaren was parked. The suspects drove the vehicle out of the garage and were traveling toward Providence Road when the crash occurred,” officials said.
  7. There is little doubt but what the draft put them in competition mode.
  8. That might go down as being the regret of Newman's life, not playing that season. I hate that it turned out this way. Decisions have consequences. Definitely sucks for the guy. Hopefully, other players will take note and reconsider putting “me” first and finishing it out. He should have stayed at Wake Forest!
  9. I am not real shocked by Newman being released so quickly, I never thought he was NFL QB talent. Not sure he was good enough to beat out Bennett at UGA. But I am shocked the Eagles released Trevon Grimes so quickly, since Brian Johnson is the reason Grimes signed there. Seems that would have gotten him past mini camp. Must have had a bunch of drops on bad throws from Newman.
  10. Yes,I think we will have a good team next. Thankfully, there is next year to look forward too.
  11. Hmmmm!!! I didn't realize they did a restructure in March. It will be interesting to see how this turns out next year.
  12. Let's hope Shaq is open for a restructure.
  13. I hope the added muscle will increase his sack ability after getting only two QB hits on 55 blitz attempts
  14. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/panthers-lb-shaq-thompson-put-150020640.html Panthers LB Shaq Thompson put on 10 pounds this offseason Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson is entering his seventh year in the NFL. Every year brings unique challenges, so to stay on stop professional athletes have to evolve their game and their bodies as-needed. One change for Thompson this coming season will be carrying a bit more weight. Defensive coordinator Phil Snow told reporters today that Thompson added about 10 pounds this offseason, bringing him up to the 235-237 range. It’s a safe bet that extra weight is more muscle than Bojangles. Either way, in the absence of future Hall of Famer Luke Kuechly Thompson has become Carolina’s most consistent defender. While Jeremy Chinn led the team in tackles last season, Thompson was close behind and only missed eight attempts (6.6%). His coverage is still solid as well, as he allowed one touchdown and a 90.7 passer rating. Thompson didn’t record any sacks and only posted two QB hits all year though, despite 55 blitz attempts.
  15. The Panthers had the 25th-worst pass coverage grade out of 32 NFL teams last season, according to Pro Football Focus, so we should easily improved on that lowly ranking this season.
  16. https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-were-worst-last-season-230000162.html What the Panthers were worst at last season may now be what they’re best at Trying to figure out the rotation at cornerback for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 was like playing chess. The pieces were always moving. It was perhaps one of their biggest struggles in Year 1 of the Matt Rhule era. Donte Jackson dealt with a toe injury for much of the season. Rasul Douglas was inconsistent. Eli Apple never became the player the Panthers were expecting, and they later cut him. And Troy Pride, then a rookie, went through struggles of his own. But with the addition of former Pro Bowl cornerback A.J. Bouye, No. 8 overall draft pick Jaycee Horn, and a healthy Jackson, the Panthers hope their cornerback room can be one of their better units in 2021 and not a hindrance “We have a lot more flexibility rotating,” defensive coordinator Phil Snow said Wednesday. “Even Keith Taylor, he’s a fifth-rounder, but I thought he was going to go in the second or third. “My biggest concern is making sure I can get all these guys on the field to make plays.” That wasn’t so much a problem in 2020. With Jackson having to sit at some point in almost every game last season because of his toe injury, the Panthers often had to rely on then rookies Pride and Stantley Thomas-Oliver to fill in. As a result, they often struggled, particularly Pride. The Panthers had hoped Pride could sit and develop, but the lack of bodies forced the Panthers to use him earlier than they were hoping. Pride wasn’t the only problem. Douglas had issues, too. While he played well in some games, like Week 6 against the Chicago Bears when he was targeted six times and allowed two completions for 29 yards, he struggled in others. Against the Denver Broncos in Week 14, Drew Lock passed for 280 yards and four touchdowns. Douglas allowed four catches in coverage that week for 132 yards and three touchdowns, according to Pro Football Reference. The Panthers had the 25th-worst pass coverage grade out of 32 NFL teams last season, according to Pro Football Focus. But this offseason, the Panthers upgraded their cornerback room in a major way. Not only did they sign Bouye, and drafted Horn and Taylor, but they also signed veteran Rashaan Melvin. And Pride and Thomas-Oliver should be better in Year 2, having had more experience. “We feel like in a 17-game season, especially in the NFC South, we’re going to need a lot of really good corner play,” Panthers coach Matt Rhule said. “We like to have a lot of depth and like to have more variability.” Horn, players and coaches say, looks as good as advertised. He was one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in college football last year. He was targeted 24 times through seven games last season and allowed only eight catches, three for touchdowns, but intercepted two passes. He also had six pass deflections. Bouye should add another veteran presence to a young cornerback room. While he hasn’t put up the same numbers as he did in 2017 when he made the Pro Bowl and was voted second-team All-Pro, he’s still been solid. And despite Jackson’s injury last season, he showed flashes of potential. Though he played in only 57% of the team’s snaps, statistically, it was his best season. He intercepted three passes and allowed four touchdowns. Opponents had a 79.2 passer rating when targeting him. This year, with a healthy toe and an expiring rookie contract, Jackson hopes to continue to improve. He said he’s trying to learn from his mistakes in practice. But he’s most excited about the group as a whole. “We can be dominant. We can be dominant,” Jackson said. “Especially with a front seven like we have ... We have the IQs in the back end, the physicality and we have the speed. It’s just going to be all about detailing, and being consistent and working.”
  17. 1usctrojan, I meant to send this message (" Just curious and for the record, are you male or female? ") to Train Wreck but sent it to you by mistake and could not delete it. Sorry about that.
  18. The Panthers reportedly shopped Robby Anderson during the 2021 NFL Draft, which would have been a real surprise considering his contribution last season. Anderson has one year left on his contract at $8 million, and sources say the Panthers were hoping to unload him, but could not find any takers who made an offer they liked. The Panthers drafted two wideouts in Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith. So Anderson could become expendable if both of them transition smoothly to life at the next level. There is also the small matter of Andersons contract to consider, which only has one more year to run and the Panthers might not be in a position to offer Anderson an extension with the likes of Donte Jackson, D.J. Moore, and Taylor Moton needing their own big deals sooner rather than later. Since Anderson was a notable absentee from Carolina’s OTAs this week , trading him might still be on the Panthers’ radar before the 2021 deadline.
  19. Just curious and for the record, are you male or female?
  20. " I am optimistic. I think I like the way we are headed." We may or may not be a year away from becoming a playoff team but i like the way the Panthers are thinking long term and building to have teams that will be successful year in and year out, instead of the previous up and down seasons we are used to.
