Matt Rhule disappointed, not discouraged by opening loss
X-Clown replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
This post got me thinking.... Win #1 2020 - against the Chargers. Justin Herbert's second career start. If Austin Ekeler doesn't drop a lateral with a clear path to the endzone on the last play, we'd only be talking about 9 career wins. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn fired at the end of the season. Win #2 2020 - against the Cardinals. Kliff Kingsbury seems to be the one coach that Rhule owns, maybe it's because he's another college coach that sucks. Kliff may not make it through the season after the way they came out in week 1. Win #3 2020 - against the Falcons in what ended up being Dan Quinn and Thomas Dmitroff's final game after starting the season 0-5. It should be noted that we lost to them 3 weeks later at home with Raheem Morris as the interim coach. Win #4 2020 - against the Lions. This was a team that was actively quitting on Matt Patricia who was fired 5 days later. Win #5 2020 - the infamous game against WFT and what ended up being Dwayne Haskins last start. Win #6 2021 - against the Jets in Zach Wilson and Robert Saleh's first game Win #7 2021 - against the Saints. It was already mentioned in the thread but the Saints were missing 8 assistant coaches due to COVID. Win #8 2021 - against the Texans in Davis Mills' first start and David Culley who was fired at the end of the season Win #9 2021 - against the Falcons. Calvin Ridley was ruled out just before kickoff to take time off with mental health issues. Three weeks later, the Falcons get their revenge in BOA. Win #10 2021 - against the Cardinals with Colt McCoy at QB. Kliff Kingsbury again. So there you go - 5 of the 10 wins against head coaches who aren't head coaches in the NFL anymore. 2 more against rookie QBs making their first start, one against a QB making his last start, one against a backup QB, and one against a team whose primary weapon was declared out just a few hours before kickoff. That's how you get to 10 wins. -
That’s putting it mildly

Loving the Panthers is like crapping at an interstate Exxon

Epic return, now please don’t leave before posting about the Browns game in week one. You have to have loads of material ready for that one! -

I'm not saying Kelce doesn't have value. But it would be ludicrous to pick him first if you had the #1 pick of the entire draft. I could MAYBE buy your argument if you were picking at the end of the first round (although Mark Andrews would be the better choice). But unless you have weird league settings, you're only starting one Tight End each week and at least 2 RBs and 2 WRs (if not more). And of course running backs get hurt and others emerge, which is why you draft guys with upside in later rounds too.

I would love to be in a league where Kelce went first overall. He didn't even finish #1 in TE scoring last year.

So the thread title says Best Carolina Game Ever, and the OP says your Favorite Game Ever. I think for Best Carolina Game Ever, it's clearly gotta be the 03' playoffs game versus the Rams. A game we had won, then looked like we were going to blow it more than once, and finished on an incredible play. This might be one of the best NFL games ever, period. Favorite Game Ever just for how satisfying it was for me is the NFC Championship win. The game itself was a blowout, but it's the best fan experience I've ever seen. For all the bullshit that PSL/season ticket holders have to listen to about how we are the reason the atmosphere at BOA sucks and/or it's our fault that the team is bad, games like that are proof that when there's something worth rooting for it's an amazing place to be. I only wish I was in person for the 1996 Cowboys playoff win, because that was so satisfying to end their dynasty and really something that wretched franchise and their insufferable fans never recovered from.

I used to think that way. But if you're in a 0.5 or full PPR, Kupp is a cheat code. Antonio Brown was like that before he completely turned into a headcase.
-
I'd take Taylor #1. I'd absolutely hate to have my fantasy money tied to CMC and have to halfway root for Rhule on my real life team to run him into the ground. If you do take the plunge to take CMC, you damn sure better make sure you draft Foreman in the last third of the draft as insurance. I have DJ as a top 12-15 receiver. Putting him in the top 10ish, means you think he could out produce any of Kupp, Jefferson, Chase, Davante, Diggs, Deebo, Tyreek, Evans, Cee Dee Lamb, and/or Tee Higgins. I wouldn't draft him over those guys. He's in the next tier with Michael Pittman and AJ Brown for me. I don't trust Robby too much. Ideally he's your WR5 or 6 for your fantasy team, with luck he would become a WR3 but I wouldn't draft him that high. TMJ might be worth a late round flier.
-
Yeah unless you have 9 other morons in your league, Kupp should be a top 5 pick

The correct answer to this of course is: LT: Garry Cobb LG: Garry Cobb Center: Garry Cobb RG: Garry Cobb RT: Garry Cobb He will protect your quarterback just like he protects his sources!

That's for a good reason - every Viking fan I know says he's been terrible. I don't think of PFF as the gospel, but they agree too Bradbury has ranked 33rd out of 33, 35th out of 35, and 32nd out of 33 in PFF pass blocking grade among centers with at least 500 snaps during his three seasons.

So bumping old threads Is ok now? Good to know

@JaxolinaWelcome aboard. Even though the Jags were supposed to be a "rival" because we came into the league at the same time, I kind of rooted for you guys to beat most other teams. I thought the teams in the late 90s with Brunell, Jimmy Smith, and Keenan McCardell were fun to watch. I'd be curious to get your take on Trevor Lawrence

I wouldn’t trade anyone for JT straight up.

Hey now why would we get Wentz when we can get a hometown hero like Daniel Jones? -
You really think we are trotting Darnold out in Week 1 when Baker is getting the chance for a revenge game against his old team?

So this whole thing about snopes got started because a poster in this thread claimed that over half of active players in the NFL have had a felony charge. People rightfully questioned what his source of that data was. He never answered the question, but It piqued my curiosity because it sounded so out there. A quick google search led me to the snopes article. As soon as I posted the link which breaks down where this myth originated (a social media post from a random guy who doesn’t like football players kneeling for the anthem and doesn’t understand math), I got an “lol you trust snopes” response. I haven’t had a single person yet tell me what was wrong specifically with their findings In this article, so am I to take it that the random social media user is who I should believe? What’s more likely?
-
I was 100% being sarcastic. Apparently that didn’t come through very well.
-
You need a more reliable source like a random guy who shares your political views on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube that “did his own research”
-
Allen being the #1 QB entering college was a legit talking point around these parts when discussing his worth as a franchise QB.

Vegas odds on which head coach gets fired first this season
X-Clown replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only thing about the list that surprises me is that Kliff Kingsbury isn’t in the top 3 and has the same odds as Vrabel. Side note, if the Colts fire Frank Reich, he should be on a plane to Charlotte the next day
