Jets defense just allowed 37 to Russell Wilson and 25 to Jacoby Brisset. Seems like they miss Robert Saleh, but what do I know?

Dave Canales is one and done.... part 2.

Come on fiz, I know you have been against the Canales hire from the jump and that's fine, but you can't tell me you actually believe this was a top 5 defense last year. They allowed the fourth most points in the league and were dead last in takeaways and sacks. You can cite the yards allowed, but just like 2010, offenses could pretty much relax for most of the second half and run the ball because this team had no hope of scoring. This year was pretty much fuged from the get go because of all the roster decisions from the last 2-3 years that have come to roost. It's that simple. -

If the mandate was fix Bryce, then surely we would be adding pieces on offense. The line is as good as it's been at pass blocking in years. We got Diontae for basically nothing. The rookies are a mixed bag so far. Burns was likely to be gone no matter who the coach was, and I don't think anyone has a problem with that given that he's being paid like a top 3 pass rusher and never has played like it. Luvu signed in Washington for less money. Chinn was barely playing because for whatever reason he doesn't fit our system. The depth on the team would have likely been bad no matter what, especially with Brown going down in week one, and most of the FA additions on defense simultaneously getting hurt. We should have known it was going to be bad when Morgan was going through every team's scraps at the end of the preseason (and still is just about every week). -

That's a missed opportunity. He'll probably be the Jets new head coach -
Good.

Was it or was it not going to be a mandate that whoever the new coach was would be tasked with fixing bryce? Who could have actually done it? -

Almost all of you who are already on the fire canales train are on record as saying that there's nobody that could possibly fix Bryce Young (which was going to be a mandate no matter who was hired), and want to fire him because....he didn't fix Bryce Young? -

What coach that we interviewed this cycle would have succeeded with fixing Bryce? Because it’s pretty clear that was a term of accepting the job and the organization was already committed to going this direction given the previous investment we made in him. And hey, he probably thought that there was some small chance that building up the little guys confidence like Mike McDaniel did for Tua would pay off, but it was pretty clear after game 2 that he realized it’s just not going to happen. He’s already told us he’s put Bryce back in blowouts to make sure that his 36 year old journeyman doesn’t get hurt unnecessarily, which is the same thing as saying that IDGAF if this 23 year old number one overall pick gets Alex smithed on the artificial turf at BOA. -

You can’t possibly believe that this is actually true and not complete lip service -
The injuries would be the one concern I’d have, but not the idea that he would be Alvin Harper 2.0
-
Not bad considering he missed 2 games with an injury. The idea that he’s a JAG that only benefits from Chase is strange to me, He almost had 1k yards his rookie year with Burrow only playing 10 games the year before Chase was drafted. And Chase benefits from him too, the 2 games without Higgins this year, Chase averaged 48 yards and scored no TDs, with Higgins back it’s 105 yards a game and 6 TDS in 5 games. He’s only 25, would easily be a #1 WR here and on half the other teams in the league. Considering how shitty we have been with drafting WRs, I’m not against overpaying someone who’s proven and is in their prime. Certainly would rather have him that Diontae Johnson.

Under no circumstances should we pay any of these guys close to 25 million. Darnold signed this offseason for 1 year and 10 million, that’s the range salary we should be looking at for a bridge starter/mentor. Jameis got 4 million, Mason Rudolph got 3. Darnold will likely get 30 or possibly 40 or more if he doesn’t completely crumble putting him out of our price range.

2nd place to the Charles Harris who has a whopping 2 sacks thus far. Tied for 3rd is Liota who we cut after week 2
-
He’s supposed to be a good blocking tight end but whiffed twice in a row on short yardage that caused a turnover. But my favorite was him catching a pass in the flat, having an open field with a DB who is 5”10, 183 points between him and huge gain. Again, Ian Thomas is 6”4 and 260. And the DB casually tackles him like it was easy as tying his shoes.

Do his Social Security payments count against the cap?

Either you just don't like Dave Gettleman or you are misremembering things. But to say Curtis Samuel never did anything is ridiculous. He had more yards in 2020 alone than TMJ had in his whole Panthers career.

Ah, your post said 2nd rounders. Unrelated, that reminds me of drafting Armanti edwards in the 3rd, using a 2nd the following year to move up to get him
-
Lafell was a 3rd rounder
