Anthony Richardson “knocked” S2 cognitive test “out of the park”.
stan786 replied to DFive's topic in Carolina Panthers
You can see it on his tape really clearly. Guy navigates the pocket at a high end level, processes and makes decisions very quickly. His issues tend to compound for how maddeningly inconsistent his base is pushing his accuracy all over the place and he can’t seem to change ball speeds throwing short. Actually give him a shot and watch some film, there’s a clear high end QB in there it’s just gotta take time to develop. I do worry about that short accuracy though because that tends to stick around. -

His processing shows up on film so I’m not surprised. -
Albert Breer on Panthers #1 pick (no trade back)

Can’t wait to officially welcome him to Charlotte. I can’t remember enjoying an offseason this much. Glad we have a clear direction with a QB with elite upside. -

He also glowingly talked about Young at the combine press conference and then at that random press conference we had a month ago. More so than the other QBs. -
I hear Nicole and Dave were heavily team Stroud but then deferred after the Pro Days. That’s why it shifted.

There’s plenty that goes into being a good QB other than just throwing the most beautiful ball. I’ve written a lot on why I like Bryce in plenty of threads and had lots of fun and enjoyable debates with people. Clearly you aren’t looking for that though so poo away and I won’t waste my time.

Is Bryce a #1 prospect if he didn’t go to Bama?
stan786 replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
Answers an easy “It Depends” for me. I think like I’m the NFL where you go impacts your development a lot. Bryce found a home with a coach that doesn’t generally let assumptions and priors dictate what he does. Saban wants to win and will do anything to do it. That probably did give Bryce a better opportunity to get the starting job as the Great Filter for short QBs is ever present in High School and College. A lot of coaches would have gotten nervous about his size and found ways to pass him over or tried to move him to a new position. Also him succeeding in the SEC at a premier school does give some weight to his size doesn’t matter arguments. Saban got him an OC with pro roots and trusted him to help teach O Brien what Alabama likes to do, and I’m sure O’Brien taught Bryce a ton on what it is to be a legit QB prospect. Does Bryce get that opportunity at a smaller school? Doubtful good coaches look for good programs, so in a self fulfilling prophecy kind of way being a top end recruit gives you access to top end coaches and playing time at top programs which adds to your development. CJ and Bryce were blessed with what they were surrounded by but they also had to develop, they both had to compete against other top QBs and take that spot. I think holding either a teams against them is short sighted. They may not have ascended to where they are but I think they both could easily have found their way into the debate at a smaller school. It may have been less clear though. -
Anthony Richardson Film Breakdown Megathread
stan786 replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I really hope its not like the Titans or the Raiders. Dont think either of those staffs are good for him. -
I think Stroud pretty great and would be happy to have him, I just prefer Bryce more. I honestly think I can make an argument to myself on taking any of the three guys I like in Bryce, Stroud, and Richardson. So I feel pretty excited to know i'll more than likely be happy on Draft Day.

This is my take from watching him almost exactly. Guy almost always know where he is on the field and what he needs and makes instantaneous decisions that are generally exactly what his team needs. People act like him holding the ball is a negative but he also delivers the ball from the pocket quickly pretty regularly and I'd rather my QB have shown the ability to extend plays when its needed rather than need to develop that in the NFL. That kind of ability is something I've found separates the good QBs from the ones we think of as Great. Things like that are what make the Burrows and Mahomes special. Guy also seemed to always turn it on when needed even when he was having a bad game, The only game in his career that wasn't at least within a score at the conclusion was that National Title game where I'd argue he made the passes he needed to, just didn't go their way. I've seen him make up plenty of deficits and deliver countless times in the fourth quarter, he doesnt ever seem phased. There is just something special about this guy and you can really feel it the more games you watch from him. He's going to be great. I'm sure there will be plenty of growing pains his rookie year as he has to learn how to take less chances and figure out what he can get away with in the NFL, but I'm confident he'll figure it out. He may not have the beautiful arm CJ has but he's going to be able to deliver the ball where it needs to go, and he's going to be able to do that in pressure scenarios consistently. Both these guys had great teams around them, two of the best teams in the Nation, and they are both Great QBs. I just think Bryce has the qualities that can elevate him to an elite QB status that I dont see with CJ, who I think is going to be good to very good in the NFL.

I'll be excited if its Stroud. Why all the negativity? We either get the best QB in the draft or we get a QB who throws one of the most beautiful balls I've ever seen. Exiting times for the Franchise.

Surprised it took Vegas this long to catch up smokes been billowing for a bit. Glad the teams reportedly leaning toward taking the best QB in the draft, can’t wait for the season!

It was 421 yards and 3 TDs vs a better Georgia team. Then he lost Metchie and Williams in that National Championship rematch and still played really well on the tape imo.

Feel like it’s been real and has been ramping consistently for a few weeks, but it would be pretty cool if we were that good at smokescreens.

Excited to see him in Process Blue (per the rumors). He’s pretty far ahead of the rest for me, gonna be a fun year.

There’s a good bit of smoke Houston could pass on a QB if it isn’t Bryce. Will be interesting!

Sounds like it’s time to get out and enjoy the weather and embrace the Short King Spring.

Sack yards are subtracted from rushing totals in college which can be a little weird to look at, but I don’t think he’s going to be running often or anything.

He’ll be the cutest little Super Bowl MVP I ever did see.
