Then we never had a chance with CMC either, may as well pack it up. This attitude is hilarious.

Jay Glazer claims Panthers asked him if Payton would come here

This is probably the correct take away from this hahaha. I dont think Glazer was wrong but he's far down the list of people I would talk to about what to do. -

Doesn't surprise me we'd be interested fits all the priors we've been told Tepper has been interested in with Experienced and Offensive. A concern i had with the CMC trade was wondering if that was our trade ammunition for Sean Payton. I wouldnt hate it but I know a lot would. I'd much rather go with a Steichen type and keep the picks but both options could be viable for sure. -
Burns is probably going to be traded right?
stan786 replied to firefox1234's topic in Carolina Panthers
They aren’t trading Moore unless it’s for a haul and he’ll be able to draft his offensive skill positions otherwise. We are more appealing for a coach today than we were a week ago. No coach is coming to a team worrying about LBs and RBs hahahaha. Being able to pick a top end QB in the draft with a good OL is about all you need to be a top choice for a coach. -

That’s silly, we have plenty to offer a coach coming in. A Good Oline, some nice defensive building blocks at the most important positions, probably the first pick to get whatever his QB is, and now we’ve stocked the pantry full of draft picks so he can build the team his way. -

You keep burns unless you get two firsts. Feel like this chat doesn’t understand the difference between trading aging vets on bad deals and the value of ascending talents. Shaq, CMC, Robby, etc yeah you can move them because their contracts are garbage next year and the years after, you are rebuilding take the dead money hit and cap savings and get value out of them. Burns, Horn, Brown, etc that’s exactly the players you want to build around after this money clears you can extend them and fit them in the cap puzzle/strategy going forward. Everyone should be able to be traded for but you don’t trade young guys just to trade them. -
Welp… Stroud is the guy, right?
stan786 replied to TheMostInterestingMan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Stroud or Young whoever I don’t care, I’d bet on Stroud though. Whoever it is we need to give him weapons RB,WR,TE,OL, I’d honest do a reverse Rhule and dedicate the entire draft to offense. -
What a great trade for everyone. Hell of an offense for CMC to play in, we got more picks than we have any right to get for him, and this is a fantastic year to draft a RB the class is going to be so deep. This is the kind of team building move we needed, CMC wasn’t going to be CMC by the time we were able to utilize him again. Build out the offense this draft, grab our QB of the future and we may actually finally have a shot to get out of this hole. People have every right to be sad CMC is gone but holding onto the past isn’t gonna get us to the future.

We are gonna cut him next year anyways just like we were Robby, too many needs that 13 million in cap savings can help with. We arent getting a 3rd, you'd need to look a the Deion Jones trade which was literally a move up from the 7th to the 6th round to get a probable comp. LBs dont get traded for much in the NFL, but we should still trade him it'll be better than getting nothing for him in the offseason. No need to over value players that arent gonna be here.

It kills me, Young/Stroud are as good of prospects as anyone who has come out lately. Every single player in the draft has some sort of risk, not very many have the prolonged upside as one of these QBs. When you find yourself in a position to take a QB and you need one you take one.

Tepper is supposed to have a press conference at 345pm
stan786 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
He bumps up to a 19 million cap hit next year, he's just gonna be a lead weight around the next staffs neck more than anything. -
Ben Johnson, DeMeco Ryans, Dan Quinn, Brian Flores, Ken Dorsey
stan786 replied to jb2288's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dan Campbell was significantly riskier than any of these up and coming offensive candidates. Hiring Dan Quinn and giving him a good Offensive Coordinator would set him up like what happened in Atlanta the second the OC leaves. The NFL Playoffs is dominated by Coaches with offensive backgrounds every year, its to the point now odds are against you if you hire anything but offense. There are exceptions to the rule like Mcdermott but its not often. -

I think Steichen in Philly has done remarkable things with Hurts and has proven to be one of the better up and coming offensive minds with that scheme. Shane Waldron doing what hes done in Seattle this season with Geno Smith and his McVay pedigree is really appealing. Also you know Fitterer is going to hear about him from his Seattle connections. -

I'd much rather take a shot an an offensive guy now than be 7-9 for four years until we fire Quinn and take a shot on an offensive guy. -

Would be a death blow to any hope i have for this team. -

I prefer other OC candidates out there than those two but end of day i'll take anything that understands how to coach an offense. -

This needs to be his POV, really hope hes smart enough to see it. -

Shane Steichen and Shane Waldron should both be near the top of the list. -

Yeah something like our 1 and 3 for their 1 and 5 works out pretty close as well. -

My concern with this would be what it would cost us to trade up in the second because we don't have a lot of fire power to move up. If we traded our 2,3,4,5,7 we could get around the 10th pick in the second. If we traded our 2,3 we could get to around the 16th pick in the second. Trading our 2,4,5,7 would get us to around the 23 pick in the second. May as well just stick around and see if someone else we like falls.
