  1. This gets said literally every year and by the time the draft rolls around they've picked enough holes through the prospects to decide the following year is the best QB class. I do love Williams and Ewers, but Stroud/Young probably comparable talents in reality.
  2. I wish Ohio State played a bit harder of a schedule, will be really interesting to watch him vs Michigan and maybe in the playoffs this year to see how he handles that.
  3. Off the top of my head Luck did well Reggie Wayne, Watson did well with Hopkins, Herbert’s done well with Keenan Allen. It’s not rare at all, in reality the statement should be good WRs and bad QBs don’t generally gel.
  4. I think this sums up everything for me, i'm on the optimistic side of things because the runway is clear and the plan is correct, but Tepper fumbling the bag will always be stuck in the back of my mind. He'll have to prove he's competent before anyone can fell any confidence level.
  5. While I love Bryce Young and would be very happy to have him, I think Young's size brings more Questions than the Logo on Stroud's helmet. Stroud is the complete package and i'd bet a lot of money he goes first overall.
  6. I'd say the biggest priority is finding the right head coach right ahead of QB. 100% agree with the point though and thats the feeling I got listening to Teppers press conference as well, he clearly has realized us trading picks and trying to jump the process didnt work. I get why everyone is so pessimistic about it but if you have a bad team this is exactly where you want to end up. First Pick, give the new coach whatever QB he wants, and start building from here.
  7. We clearly have a plan and its one I find appealing, hope we keep pushing towards it.
  8. I do think there is a point around the late second to third that a sweet spot where if you want a RB the talent is usually there with the lower risk of wasting draft capital. I also think waiting till later is fine but as someone who is about as anti RB in the first as you can be I think historically you can see RBs drafted on day 2 tend to outperform the day 3 udfa guys.
  9. I imagine it'll be like last time where Fitt is involved at every step but Tepper makes the final decision. Ideally I dont have to hear about them visiting some coach and falling in love with him while sitting at his dinner table this time.
  10. I do think Shaq is gone one way or the other, trade or being cut this offseason, just too much cap savings to not do it for his talent level.
  11. In my eyes 2023 could be one of the more enjoyable years we've had if we can grab a coach who knows some offense and get one of the top QBs and some offensive pieces in the draft. Low expectations so hard to disappoint. Dont have to worry about being in position to grab a QB for the first time in forever. Get to watch an elite talent develop at QB with a pretty sturdy offensive line in front of him. There is a real possibility it may be fun to be a Panthers fan again soon.
  12. Id agree though I think the chiefs are doing it in spite of their RB. Giants are 100% overachieving thanks to Barkley and some really good coaching.
  13. That last part should be a prerequisite for any coach we are looking to hire, being able to use run concepts and mid level RBs to effectively run the ball is one of the most important tools for a coach today. The teams that are winning rarely are doing it with first round RBs.
  14. I'd consider one in the second or the third the nice thing this class is pretty loaded with Bijan, Gibbs, Tucker, Evans, Corum, Bigsby, Achane, Brown, etc. You probably can end up getting someone really nice in the late second. Also am fine just taking shots on guys late and picking up free agents. Top end RB is more of a luxury in the NFL right now than a requirement.
  15. One of the biggest take aways from Teppers press conference for me was how annoyed he was about losing those picks and not building in a patient manner.
  16. He does for San Fran now since the bonus stayed with us, he was gonna be have top end WR cap hits here if we kept him
  17. Agree with you on the aspect of parting with players is the nature of the game. I'd guess i'd aruge that he could be a big safety valve for our rookie QB. He's always been very level headed regardless of whats happening with him on the field and even if hes not the long term answer I think with his contract as it is, the fact that giving a young QB targets is important, and him only being 25 there is definitely a pretty important role on this team for him. But if someone wants to pay up for him and take his contract on then so be it.
  18. As someone whos optimistic I agree with this, i'm optimistic because we finally have a shot to be actually good again, but this front office and ownership group deserve nothing until they prove it can happen. I dont blame people for being angry and am fine with them hating on everything that happens, its 100% what should be expected with how this team has been run.
  19. Sure whatever you want to believe. Guy will be the highest paid edge in the league if he hits free agency.
  20. The first overall pick will be enough to attract the coach. CMC wasnt gonna be the reason someone came here. Having a LT and a WR1 locked up long term to pair with the young guy of their choice will definitely attract one. I think we'd have traded CMC even if we had all our picks, he didnt match up with our timeline and we needed to reset the books for 2024 and beyond. Giving a new coach a full complement of picks is just another plus for them to be able to build out the roster how they want instead of being locked into something.
  21. Its 100% a haul no mental gymnastics needed, if you can zoom out from how much CMC meant to you as a fan and look at it more in terms of NFL value.
  22. Totally fair, I may be optimistic but that can come crashing down very easily with a few decisions out of Tepper. I'm optimistic that he's leaning offense, that he was clearly pissed off at Rhule refusing to build patiently, that he understands the value of draft picks, and that he clearly understands we need a QB. There are about a thousand reasons i'm pessimistic on Tepper though so you could see me back to where you are pretty quickly hahaha.
  23. The thing Rhule never understood is you either need to be bad enough to get a franchise changing QB or or good enough to make the playoffs. Us being this bad is a feature not a bug with how this team is built right now. Yeah Rhule sucked, yeah the offense is in the tubes but its not unfixable. Tepper leaning toward an offensive coach is another good sign he's learning. Sure they could fumble the bag, but us making good decisions now shouldnt be completely thrown away because of bad decisions we've made in the past. Find a competent play caller and a good young QB and this offense can improve very very quickly. I can promise you there are better offensive minds than Mcadoo out there.
  24. Team has a franchise LT, EDGE, Corner and a WR1. Not to mention Chinn and Brown. There are plenty of building blocks in place and thankfully at the most important positions. Dont be silly this team is pretty appealing for a new coach coming in. Especially when they get to pick their QB first overall. Team is bad but for the first time in two years we actually have a light at the end of the tunnel. A young QB developing with a good Oline and you always got a shot. We moved an aging player at a very low value position for a bundle of picks to give our young QB more weapons. I know its sad to see CMC leave but this team is in a better spot than Rhule got here if we land a top QB in the draft.
  25. The great thing with extensions is you can set it up where the first year is cheaper with how bonuses pay out, we are in fine position to extend all these guys if we want especially with yearly cap raises. Dead money clears for 2024, we'll be able to structure money in the contracts to complement each other. perfect with a QB on a rookie deal. Probably wont get to have too much fun in free agency this year but that's not the end of the world. Would rather be extending our guys anyways. Of course you want to hit on picks but if we can get in position to grab a QB this is the best this teams future has looked since probably right when Cam got hurt.
