  1. I would argue Strouds issues were bad early in the season and then he started showing signs of it as the season progressed and improved as it went on, culminating in the Georgia game. Which I think is actually a positive as he showed signs of development and then had a game where it all came together. I agree its overblown but I also think this Young injury risk stuff is way overblown. My argument is basically they are both very good prospects that we should be happy to have.
  2. You are telling me bigger guys are more resistant but then i'm showing you an example of a guy who is big and had the same thing happen. Stroud's extra 2 inches make that impossible though? If we need a big framed guy why arent we arguing for Levis or Richardson. Stroud is closer to the Bridgewater Tua mold than he is to a big bodied QB.
  3. I'd probably argue 10-20 lbs probably hurts both Young and Stroud tbh, Stroud isnt super fluid in the pocket already, wouldnt want him to be even more of a statue. I think players holding too much weight on their frames can lead to unintended consequences as well like with Kyler and his non contact injuries. I dont have really strong opinions on combines or pro days I can understand if its a negative to you, and thats fair.
  4. I guess my think with Stroud is I dont think people are putting enough weight on how many QBs have come into the NFL bad with pressure and never improved. There is at least a decent risk on that limiting Stroud's career trajectory as well. But end of the day almost all QBs come into the draft with these kind of question marks. They are both pretty good prospects imo and two guys i'm going to be happy to have.
  5. Tua weighed in at the combine at 217 4 lbs heavier than Stroud. I'm not sure when he was last 200. If Tua is the example why are we not concerned with Stroud who has a slighter frame.
  6. For sure, I wasnt arguing that he had hardships because of the line in my comment, i'm just saying it wasn't the world beaters you'd expect last year.
  7. Oh i'm sure, I'd hope they are debating numerous things about both QBs. I honestly dont get why people think CJs frame is safe, he's pretty damn skinny as well. I think they both have a ton of pluses and minuses to debate. I just dont think if we draft Bryce he's destined to be injured constantly is all, and i'd say the data tends to agree (Small sample size noted). There is plenty of question marks in my eyes on Bryce were if our staff wants Stroud i'm all in.
  8. Bama's online last year comped to what they usually run with was middle of the pack SEC, it was really surprising tbh. Year before they were fantastic. So its not like he had to depend on an "average" (poor guy) line his whole career or anything. It was plenty enough to be a positive for him.
  9. I guess this very much ties into my stance. There are a ton of players who are injury prone of all sizes, its so much to do with genetics and luck. I still think about how unlucky Cam was that tackle attempt vs the Charges started his downward trend. I'm sure weight goes somewhat into the equation honestly both ways, running to much weight on your frame can cause injuries as well, but I think end of the day no one knows how injury prone any specific player is going to be, there are so many variables to it. Not sure how you can discount anyone really.
  10. I guess I wasnt super impressed with Bama's line this year, I think it definitely was average at best. I do wonder for both him and CJ what would have happened without what they had. Does Bryce end up just getting washed out early by all the pressure in his face trying to be super man or is he able to win by doing what he does. Does CJ Stroud without 2 first round caliber tackles show a lot more of those struggles vs the pass rush or does he get to show actual ability in that regard more having to deal with it, like he did vs Georgia.
  11. Yup we just dont know there is no guarantee for anything. I'm sure there is some level that ends up being the clear marker for increased injury chance as well, I think they probably would have at least shown their penchant for injury by now if they were going to be obscenely injury prone though.
  12. I honestly would prefer Bryce never get to the Kyler build level. I'd argue the extra weight he's holding on is contributing to his hamstring/non contact injuries.
  13. Levis also has a history of nagging injuries and constantly throws his body into defenders when running. I totally agree with this.
  14. I'm most worried about if he can thread the same windows in the pros as he can in college when he makes some of these magic throws after extending the play. Velocity on his ball while fine isnt top tier, what happens when everyone is a bit faster and the windows are tighter can he do it. I tend to think yes, but its a big enough worry for me i'm fine playing it safe with Stroud if our staff desires.
  15. Thats totally fine, I just dont generally like to focus on one player samples. Honestly if that was just a bullet point on Young's negatives I dont even mind. Sure it can be a concern. I'm not even fully team Young I think he does have some concerns I'm not sure how they translate, but I just think people are completely discounting a player based on things that arent based on fact either way and its silly.
  16. Why is 220 lb Tua a comp for Bryce. I can name a bunch of QBs Strouds size that had injury issues. Teddy Bridgewater is almost Strouds size exactly and gets injured almost constantly. Dak missed a year last year due to his hip, Burrow tore his ACL his rookie year. All size QBs get hurt.
  17. What happens when a 300 man falls on a skinny 213 lb Stroud, its not like his frame is super robust he's still a relatively light NFL QB at 213 lbs. Why is he bulletproof there to such a high degree that you can push Bryce out of the discussion here.
  18. I'm arguing that its alright to argue he's an outlier of a QB and that is a large risk, that small QBs havent been able to do it in the past because a number of reasons. I am saying there is zero data that shows that smaller or lighter players get injured in any more drastic fashion than any other sized QB. I would like to know what is the magic number that instantly makes Bryce so much more injury prone and why is that the case. I would like this board to elevate their discussions from a place of "I know hes going to get hurt end of arguement" to actually discussing the pluses and minuses of the players.
  19. This is true, and I think there is a real argument when it comes to him being an outlier and if he can ascend that. I would argue there is plenty of data for 210-240 and if it shows a reduction in injuries as you get lower so automatically assuming its going to dramatically jump at 195-205 or whatever feels a bit dubious.
  20. Tua weighs more than CJ does though, I dont get why its not an indictment on them both.
  21. Yeah I guess i'm surprised people arent more worried about his height, it feels like the frame comment gets overplayed comped to the height a bit. I think there are legit size reasons to have concern other than this "I know he's going to get more hurt than everyone just because". There are a lot of scheme things you have to work through. I know Reich generally prefers to line up in the shotgun more, but not sure if there is some concern there from him or not.
  22. I do think his size will limit some of our play calling as well and I can see that being an argument for sure. I also think that could explain why lighter QBs are getting hurt less, because maybe their coaches purposefully put them in harms way less.
