  1. It's always interesting watching negotiations through leaked information. With Lamar/Carr/Jimmy G out there I feel like the Bears have a bit of risk a lot of their leverage gets removed from the equation if they wait too long as well. Its going to be an interesting balance to watch especially if the Bears do want to come away with two firsts like they are talking about.
  2. I still haven’t figured out where this bigger class stuff is coming from, 4 potential top 10-15 QBs is a pretty hefty class. Other than Maye and Williams no one’s really shown out enough to be a first round sure guy. Maybe Ewers takes a big step but he’s got a number of issues he’s gonna have to work through. Other than that you are just hoping and praying some guys take some giant steps next year. Both Levis and Richardson had more hype than the Penix, Nic, etc group this time last year and they would both go ahead of Penix if he had left this year. The problem more than the number of top end QBs available this year is more how many teams need a QB and it’s going to keep growing. Next year maybe 4 guys end up being first round caliber, even if it’s 5 if our division doesn’t improve outside of us we’ll be picking a good bit later and it’s not going to be any easier to get a QB we want. If we are going to have to trade a chunk of picks regardless why not go get the top rated guy this year as opposed to third/fourth guy in a class we have no clue about after the first two guys.
  3. Why would we do this when we already have Matt Corral?
  4. I agree, Stroud/Young fit our franchise a lot more in terms of being able to not have to commit a decent chunk of money to a QB who can start the whole season and keep us competitive. Can instead sign a more moderately priced vet to back them up.
  5. Eventually you have to find a QB. Colts under Reich were ascending with great rookies and manageable second contracts until they couldn’t figure out the QB and it fell apart.
  6. Sounds like thats the expectation they have for themselves as well, which is why we’d make the move.
  7. My opinion for our situation would be push to get to 1 this week and plan to take Stroud/Young. Having a rookie who is ready to play immediately in our plans like either of them helps immensely as free agency kicks off. Would allow us to sign a vet backup presence more so than an every week stater we’d want for an ARich, and that would allow us to push more money to other spots like TE, DL, Secondary that’ll help us win right away. I personally think at the rate the rest of our division is going we’d host a playoff game year one with either of them which makes the trade easier to stomach.
  8. If finding a Super Bowl winning QB was easy they wouldn’t hold nearly the value they do. If you want to be technical I’m sure there have been more 1st overall pick QBs to win at least one Super Bowl than any other draft slot.
  9. Sure technically in the spirit of the drill it wasn't released when it should have been, but if you've watched the combine at any previous year you'd understand the gamesmanship and the competition of the drill always end up in a competition to see who can get it the deepest and often you'll see people do things like Richardson did there and either wait to hike the ball or wait to throw it to try and get it as deep as possible. It was the highlights of Josh Allens combine when he did it. I understand the drill is for the WRs as well but at the end when they are giving QBs random reps you'll see things like that all the time. Its part of the combine experience. People comp it to the dunk contest.
  10. It wasn’t mistimed, it was purposeful to try and get it as deep as possible and then he put too much air on it. It’s part of why that drill is a blast to watch.
  11. That go drill is a heavily QB focused drill. Players go for it like that every year. They gave him an extra rep just to do that, it’s why he only got one.
  12. I mean even the Cowboys realized the positional value and played Parsons at edge 90% of the time this season.
  13. He was 14 overall on Jeremiah's board in February. Hooker was exactly 50 if I remember right.
  14. I still don’t really understand the notion Carr is going to commit anywhere for a prove it deal or anything short of a long term commitment at a pretty hefty salary. There aren’t enough QBs to go around as it is, he’s going to have options and he’s old enough to prefer stability to upside. If we sign Carr we aren’t going to be able to get out of him quick enough to use this QB of the future. We probably still draft a QB but not till later.
  15. I do feel they have all sounded a lot more excited to talk about Bryce than the other guys, its interesting.
  16. So lets agree to disagree, doesnt have to be a competition in who is more right lol.
  17. Same, just analyzing it. Others also share my opinion. Its ok to disagree just having a conversation neither of us have to be "Right". I am just stating based on past evidence and the current situation this should have been expected.
  18. And I would say your are over selling it. Sorry as well man.
  19. I mean I would say I dont want Carr about as much as you want Carr based on my read. One of those where I trust the org but I dont really think its in our best interest, where the feel I get from you is you trust the org but you think he'd be a good fit. I could be wrong though dont want to put words in your mouth just more trying to give a comp. Regardless that doesnt matter its more about the situation than my feelings. Tepper is in Indy and is going to be part of this QB hunt, there is zero reason he shouldnt have been in that meeting if we were kicking the tires. I'm not downplaying it, if he wasnt in there that would have been a sign we werent interested at all so there is something to it, but its not really a giant tell in any direction past what we already know (that we were going to talk to Carr and kick the tires as part of our QB search)
  20. Yeah i'm saying Carr has gone to the Saints and Jets and has met with them again in Indy, we had our first meeting with him. Would have been shocked if we didnt bring Tepper in even if we just wanted to kick the tires. Both because Carr clearly is doing his research and I cant imagine he'd take us seriously if we didnt put in the same effort as the other teams, and how involved Tepper has been consistently in this QB hunt.
  21. Ah yeah Mcdaniels is pretty weird, lots of personality conflicts there.
  22. I'd be interested in the definition of "retread". Wentz gets benched for Hurts and gets traded for a 1st +, Carr gets benched for Stidham and gets cut. Where is the line on retread and non retread.
