  1. Don’t worry if you look at data 213 lbs is the sweet spot!
  2. Yeah that’s fair I guess I think if they do fail it’ll be a mix of a number of things for each of them. I just think end of the day Fitterer probably needs to either hit with this guy or if not find the guy within the rookie contract period, generally missing with the first pick isn’t something you recover from.
  3. Nowhere, you said a longer rope because what happens if Young gets injured week 6 was wondering what exactly that would do to the leash compared to Stroud failing for an issue of his. The answer is the rope is generally the same because they are gonna get a few years to prove our a concept. If Young gets injured or his arm doesn’t prove to be as strong and he can’t hit the windows. Or Stroud can’t handle the pressure and can’t win with the weapons we have around him. Failure gonna cost some jobs regardless.
  4. No because they are so hyper focused on Young, Strouds got a Teddy Bridgewater build which hadn’t proven out to success. You think we are firing people if Young takes an injury year one? Ok let’s focus on Strouds issue, what if year one Stroud crumples under pressure enough it becomes a worry early. Do they get fired year one? They both have enough flaws they can fail for their weaknesses, the rope is going to be 2-3 seasons minimum.
  5. I would say if you take a guy they all get the first contract to prove a concept. I don’t think any of them necessarily last long enough if by 3 year it’s clear you have to draft a new one. They aren’t getting fired year one of this.
  6. What if we take Stroud and he gets injured 6 games in? We still drafted a QB with a relatively slight frame.
  7. You think Fitt is gonna keep his job if we go Stroud and he fails? Fitt has to hit regardless.
  8. I became a bit of a Bills fan that Music City Miracle year because they had my favorite player from my college team on there. I was like 9-10 and remember being absolutely furious Flutie was benched. He was never very good but he was a lot of fun for some reason.
  9. I think he broke his collarbone in the USFL as well. Reading up on Flutie's career is wild, the amount of times NFL teams benched him before big games and lost is kind of hilarious.
  10. I 100% agree with this, and generally my nature is to lean risk so that explains my Bryce lean here, but I'm in the camp they both end up pretty good and I'll immediately be team Stroud the second we take him. I think if we take Stroud and he busts which isnt impossible folks are going to lose their job as well. They both have some elite traits and downside that makes this one not necessarily a slam dunk, but thats why we are able to discuss this so much.
  11. Id love to see a study on the spread of injuries more also more current data, we can make plenty of assumptions not sure you can really discount a study due to assumptions. But as you said let’s just assume the study is true why would there not be more small QBs. In terms of small QBs I’d say the NFL biases have been filtering out a number of types QBs for a long long time, for varying reasons. Generally short guys are filtered out of the position because a number of things that don’t fit the nfl prototype narrative. They’ll be recruited less the big programs, they’ll have to find homes in gimmick offenses that don’t develop their skillset, or their arms are lacking because they aren’t as naturally strong as prototypes. Then you can get into the NFL and how important draft capital is generally and how much these prospects have been dinged in the past because of fit, the style of the nfl (more pro style till recently), and general bias. Everyone seems to admit small QBs have been able to stay healthy in college but the nfl is a different game, so it doesn’t seem small QBs have had a massive health problem from preventing them getting to the draft, it comes more to a bias (must be that much better to actually get a look), nfl fit, and probably honestly physical ability thing. I also have to mention, in that study we keep bringing up the graph dies out at like 210 (assuming Brees listed weight), it would be an assumption on my end that it continues flat, maybe it ticks up, i would love seeming more data and wish someone else did a study on it. All I argue is we don’t know enough to make any for sure assumptions on Bryce’s health, but there are plenty of reasons for short QBs to not have a bigger sample in the NFL other than specifically injuries.
  12. Wonder how he feels about Bruce Lee.
  13. Thats been the prevailing thought, but they dont seem to be giving much away really.
  14. Why do you assume injury concerns? There is plenty of reasons besides injuries that lead to the bigger Prototype in the NFL being the go to. Passing windows and Pro style offenses operating with shorter drops making it harder for small qbs to see the field. Tendancy for smaller QBs to have weaker arms because they cant get the same torque on the ball. Smaller players tending to be more athletic allowing them to move to other positions and still play. Most of this gets decided even before college really, there are plenty of examples of small college qbs holding up just fine, but in general the Football mentality is what it is. And end of day it makes sense that smaller QBs with generally smaller hands and less body mass arent going to throw the ball as well as these prototypes. Doesnt mean there cant be outliers.
  15. Matt lienart, Marcus Mariota, The Golden Calf of Bristol, Sam Bradford, Jameis Winston on the other side. Plenty of NFL meh on all sides of this argument.
  16. Thats fair, I just think Stroud probably doesnt get used much in the running game either with his athletic profile, and build. I dont think anyone is going to be very worried about defending any designed QB run with Bryce or Stroud.
  17. I'd say that in 2009 when this was published that was probably more true than now, things like the fact most short QBs were probably backup level at best and whatnot. But I'd love to see some more data on all this, its just interesting stuff.
  18. Yeah as I said somewhere else i'm suprised with the "I'm not worried about his height, i'm worried about his weight" crowd. Feel like his height is something that everyone should worry about a bit when factoring in his profile.
  19. Because they generally arent good enough to avoid the position swap that happens to guys that are athletic or small and aren't developing at the right pace. Its like what used to happen to more mobile QBs, and happens with Bigger Athletic QBs. There is a prototype for sure in the NFL and Bryce is an outlier for that, i dont imagine anyone is denying that.
  20. I mean I was assuming thats what your referencing because he wasnt hurt before or after that in the NFL. Got cut the next preseason when they decided to move away from the Wildcat stuff. Pat White as a QB wouldnt even be in the same discussion as Young, but he had legit rushing upside that they clearly thought they could exploit back when the wildcat was in fashion.
  21. Knocked out of the NFL by a hit to the head that would have probably crushed the far majority of QBs?
  22. The data in this thread is solely tied to weight, I havent found one that does it with height. There really should be more looks at this imo it is interesting.
  23. I'd love to talk about more things like Bryce not playing in the shotgun or if his velocity can translate, etc vs Stroud's pressure stuff, how he works through reads, etc. Most everything devolves to Young is small and dead immediately.
  24. Yeah I tend to gravitate toward Young just because I think his personality and mental stuff are so top notch compared to prospects that have come out recently, but I think Stroud has everything you'd want in a prospect and I have no qualms if the Front Office prefers him. I honestly have them ranked almost identical, even before we traded up.
