Glad we have a medical staff that can evaluate these guys shoulders. If any of them have long term degenerative conditions I'm sure we aren't going to take them.

I just feel like personally I saw that Super Bowl winner level from Young more consistently and am more confident it transfers. There is risk on all the guys, I get it. It probably has a lot to do with the traits we prefer as well. I just don’t think Strouds a risk free prospect and think some of his issues aren’t quick fixes or something we can necessarily coach. Hope he is the Georgia Stroud and it just unlocked the next gear in his mind.

Very fair, I guess I don’t see why he couldn’t develop an under center game. I get height concerns but Russ is about the same height and was able to develop it. It’s all about finding the passing lanes and he’s great at that. But yeah great points on the rollout stuff. I won’t deny there are probably some things you have to throw out. I just personally think the juice is worth the squeeze.

David Newton: Panthers leaning toward Bryce Young
stan786 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we leak our way to 2 & 12 you can go ahead and crown the front office. -
Hey Bryce guy who’s been in the thread, I pointed out Mac didn’t line up under center in college either. It’s the bama scheme, not necessarily specific to Bryce. Do I know if Young can be effective under center for a fact - nope, is it enough for me personally to pass on him - not really. Eagles and the Chiefs just made it to the Super Bowl lining up in Shotgun 80% of the time, Franks been known to enjoy the shotgun. Ideally Bryce is able to adjust, but it’s a pretty comment issue from college to the pros. He threw a number or under center looks in his pro day for that reason, it’s clear he knows he’s gonna have to figure it out. You can run play action from shotgun or pistols formations pretty easily. Definitely gonna struggle with the QB sneak though for sure and that’s a good point.

The Texans Panthers game will be fun this year as well.

Wait till Bryce comes head to head with the Golden Panther in training camp. -
Ah so are you saying you’d guess lighter guys may have less knee and ligament injuries and more concussions/shoulder injuries?
-
It’s based on injury reports over like 8 season and it’s on a per game basis. If smaller players had the same injury chance to get the normal injuries all QBs did like knees and what not, and then an added injury chance at a certain type of other injuries it would definitely show up in the data over that sample. Unless the smaller QBs had a some other reduced injury risk than bigger ones did in a different facet, and that balanced it out. But end of day injury per game played stayed would illustrate injury risk.

He will be on the podium hoisting that Lombardi!
-
Ah yeah the guy who weighs more than CJ.
-
Would that not be baked into the data, if all size players get a similar rate of certain types injuries but small players take other injuries more due to physicality you should see a bump in small players getting injured comparatively because you are adding an injury risk on top of an already assumed one.

I’m much more terrified of QBs that can’t handle pressure and I’ve seen enough out of Stroud I worry about his ceiling. I think Youngs mental abilities greatly outweigh his physical limitations, the stuff he can do and process becomes more and more apparent the more games I get though. It’s just my opinion of course but I have argued on here Bryce’s ceiling is as high as anyones in this class because of his mind. I get people want to play it safe I just think safe is gonna get us Kirk Cousins unless he is what he was in that Georgia game and that’s also a risk from the number one pick.

Get ready for Derrick Browns next contract…..
stan786 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
First, I want to thank you for giving us something else to talk about. I’ll be interested if Simmons pass rushing profile gives him a bit more of a boost contract wise, regardless having this QB on a rookie contract is going to be nice as we end up extending Burns, Brown, and eventually Horn. -

https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/article/qb-klassroom/quantifying-quarterbacks-mac-jones I was trying to find the numbers and was a tad shocked Mac was in shotgun or pistol 98% of the time at Bama.

Ideally with the visits happening next week, we'll start getting a better feeling in a week or so. I cant imagine they'd make any final decision before at least going through those.

Bijan Robinson is the pick, he's our version of LT, the front office is enamored. Evidence 1. Charlie Campbell tried to warn us early that we loved him in his combine reports. 2. We traded away our last generational RB and this is a team that likes to invest in RB. CMC, Double Trouble, Stephen Davis, etc. We are going to stick to our roots and Keep Pounding the rock. 3. Frank Reich showed the blueprint with Jonathan Taylor dragging Phillip Rivers to the playoffs, Bijan can do the same thing with Andy Dalton, 4. Our new OC was a RB coach in LA, Why not give him a tool he's best at working with.
-
Yeah I think thats why the curve for QBs goes up when they are heavier, they get put into more dangerous situations on purpose.
-
Yeah I agree with this, the pre draft game is played by everyone, a lot of the top guys seem to want to min max their measurements or obscure them all together.
-
I personally think if you think any team is deceived you arent giving them enough credit. This guys gonna go through so many physicals and background checks and have people around the program interviewed they are going to know exactly what he played at and where he's going to be capable of going. Getting to over 200 just showed he could eventually carry it imo and that was the hurdle he needed to pass.

I completely agree, I think calling someone shady for something like that is a tad aggressive is all. If you watch him talk he's incredibly thoughtful and humble. I just tend to defend guys when their character is pressed for something that's way smaller of deal long term like throwing at a combine. I get it though, as I said earlier I have no problem with people being size aware and using it as something in the calculus. I have a bigger problem with the assumption he's automatically hurt at some insane rate is all.
