  1. Carolina Panthers cap space: $16 million 2021 draft positioning: Carolina has the eighth and 39th overall picks Analysis: The Panthers reportedly offered their first-round pick-plus for Matthew Stafford. That doesn't mean they'll do the same for Wentz, but it's at least evidence they're being aggressive in pursuit of a new signal-caller. The pairing of Wentz and up-and-coming offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who interviewed for the Eagles' head-coaching job a couple weeks back, could be an interesting melding of the minds. Teddy Bridgewater remains under contract in Carolina and is scheduled to make $17 million this season https://www.espn.com/blog/philadelphia-eagles/post/_/id/31124/five-potential-trade-destinations-for-philadelphia-eagles-carson-wentz
  2. David NewtonESPN Staff Writer The Panthers signed Stephen Sullivan, a seventh-round draft pick by Seattle last year, to a futures contract. New Carolina GM Scott Fitterer was part of the front office that drafted Sullivan, who played tight end and wide receiver at LSU. Sullivan was drafted as a tight end but began working at defensive end while on Seattle's practice squad. He was elevated for one game, playing 22 defensive snaps and making one tackle in Week 8.

  4. Overview Big receiver with the body type and contested catch toughness to make transition to a big slot or flex tight end role. He added weight and played tight end early in the year, but simply lacked the functional strength as a blocker. However, he's an above-average blocker in space who can help spring receiver screens, jet-sweeps and outside runs. He finds traffic and coverage too often in his routes and needs to get better at using his burst and body to separate. He's a developmental project worth a stash spot while teams keep tinkering and teaching to see if they have something. Strengths Praised by staff for his high character and team-first attitude Good size with long frame as a big slot TE/WR Has body control and adjustments to block in space Uses footwork to mirror and sustain his blocks Fires into outside cornerbacks with good force Pass-catching tape was better in 2018 Frame and toughness to protect the catch into collisions Can high-point it over coverage Still getting better with potential to attack the seam Weaknesses Built like an inflated receiver with thin lower body for a tight end Hands are wide and grabby at point of attack Not enough power to secure base blocks Crashes into route traffic rather than side-stepping it Sluggish in and out of breaks from the slot Allows coverage to ride on him Needs to play to his speed potential Can do a better job of working back to the football

  7. https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/stafford-trade-panthers-jets-49ers-broncos-bears-colts-patriots-washington From Breer’s report, the Panthers were the team that offered the most for Stafford outside of what the Rams ultimately gave up. The Panthers reportedly offered the eighth overall pick in this year’s draft along with a late-round pick. This is interesting because to me this team isn’t a Stafford away from competing, but it shows that owner David Tepper and head coach Matt Rhule want to win and win now. I believe they have every intention of upgrading the position and replacing Teddy Bridgewater. At this point in time, I think they are firmly in the running for Watson and I believe they will be very aggressive in their pursuit. If they fail to acquire Watson, then look for the Panthers to trade up into the top 3-4 and select either Zach Wilson or Justin Fields.
  8. The aggressiveness of this trade proposal make it seem like Fitterer realized Deshaun Watson was not going to happen and Stafford was the best QB option out there.
  9. I suppose Fitterer and Rhule don't believe any of these QB's are an improvement over Teddy Bridgewater.
  10. I kept telling all of you Stafford would not want to come from one bad team to another bad team.
