Panthers terminating Rock Hill project agreements
TheSpecialJuan replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
DEAN SPANOSO, LOS ANGELES CHARGERS ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Chargers owner Dean Spanos has been sued by his sister Dea Spanos Berberian for alleged misogynistic behavior and repeated breaches of fiduciary duty. This was originally brought up in early April, with Dean Spanos at the time releasing a statement with his two other siblings that said: "For the three of us, the Chargers is one of our family’s most important legacies, just as it was for our parents. Unfortunately, our sister Dea seems to have a different and misguided personal agenda." The Chargers owners have frequently had financial issues as compared to most other NFL owners. This lawsuit could be a legitimate threat to unseat Spanos, which would put the future of the Chargers in some question. Berberian is seeking sole control of the Chargers in the lawsuit. -
ESPN's Dan Graziano talked to several NFL executives and writes that "the majority of the people to whom I spoke for this story believe both [Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo] will likely end up being released." He also canvassed player agents and coaches for this story, noting that the Garoppolo situation is less messy so there's more of a chance that something gets done. Ultimately, barring a big quarterback injury in training camp that changes things from where we are today, it's not hard to believe this conclusion is coming. Fowler also notes that people most often connect Garoppolo to the Panthers and Mayfield to the Seahawks https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/34049538/baker-mayfield-jimmy-garoppolo-next-nfl-teams-execs-predict-fits-trade-line-outcome-browns-49ers-quarterbacks

This has always been a problem with Cam: the more he speaks the more stupid he sounds

Dov Kleiman @NFL_DovKleiman Newton: "I'm not going to conform to nothing." "I saw myself more valuable than a Tom Brady, I saw myself more valuable than an Aaron Rodgers, than a Peyton Manning." "Because I can go into their community but they can never go to my community."

Crowder destroying Cam
-
Former NFL linebacker Channing Crowder, one of the hosts of The Pivot Podcast, pushed back against Newton. “You are 33 years old,” Crowder said. “You done got old. You’re one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world right now? Cam, I cannot accept that. I can’t accept it. I saw what you did in New England. When you went back to Carolina, I saw what happened. Like, the proof’s in the pudding.” Crowder remained very aggressive regarding the notion that Cam isn’t who he used to be. Newton nevertheless disagreed strongly with the idea that he doesn’t have it anymore, ultimately citing the “fuged up situations” mentioned above. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/06/07/cam-newton-blames-himself-for-f-ked-up-situations-in-new-england-and-carolina/#comments

Yes, it seems odd that a multi-billionaire would be able to shirk or minimize financial responsibilities by taking advantage of the bankruptcy laws. But rich people don’t get or stay that way by being stupid. In creating a company that was and is separate from his personal fortune and putting that company in charge of the aborted construction project for his football team’s stadium, Tepper can shield himself from having to dip into his own piggy bank to pay 100 cents on the dollar to those who provided services to a project that Tepper dumped once public financing didn’t come through. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/06/02/david-tepper-takes-his-real-estate-development-company-to-bankruptcy/ -
