“[Bryce] Young projects to be a solid starting-level quarterback at the next level who can lead his team to victory because of his abilities. He shows the poise, leadership, accuracy, and clutch playmaking ability that teams look for in a high-quality quarterback.” That was the bottom line of the scouting report on Bryce Young coming out of Alabama. It was also nothing like what we saw from the first overall pick who took the field for the Carolina Panthers last season. Looking back on Young’s rookie season raises two questions: What went wrong, and what can be fixed going forward? https://www.the33rdteam.com/panthers-bryce-young-isnt-doomed-but-its-time-recalibrate-expectations-ahead-of-year-2/

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill The rich will get richer. As they often do. Panthers owner David Tepper, who is worth roughly $20 billion, will get $650 million in taxpayer money for renovations to the team’s 29-year-old stadium. Via Bret McCormick of Sports Business Journal, Charlotte City Council voted 7-3 to approve the proposal on Monday night. Tepper will contribute $150 million. He also will be responsible for cost overruns.

I love this for them

I rather enjoyed that, the draft weekend access was very good. - Brandt Tilis was the star of this production. Came off as very prepared, intelligent, and has a much better personality than Dan. - I like the input from the coachers and scouting department. It seemed Dan really listened to their input. - Scout Jordan Trgovac is a fast riser within the organization, and also quite attractive

CHARLOTTE — Things happen fast in a draft room, once they eventually happen. One phone call, 20 seconds in duration. Maybe 15. A string of numbers read aloud as they're scribbled on a pad so the guy next to you can hear them. Click. "Let's do that," and then a quick "call-it-in" and a deal. Or minutes of intense discussion and consultation and debate, but then a casual "Yeah, the defensive tackle," and that's that and you're onto the next thing. https://www.panthers.com/news/months-of-prep-moments-of-action-2024-dan-morgan-carolina-panthers-nfl-draft

We gave up our 2nd rounder and 2 5th round picks to the Colts to draft a RB coming off November ACL surgery. I like Brooks he has some Jamaal Charles to his game but this was very risky pick.

Panthers coach Dave Canales said rookie RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) may not be ready for the start of training camp. Canales also said Brooks has a ways to go before he is ready and the team will ease him into training camp. Brooks suffered a torn ACL late in his final season at Texas and is still recovering from the injury. Previous reports were optimistic that Brooks would be cleared by training camp, but Canales and the Panthers are now pumping the breaks. Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders are the next men up on Carolina’s depth chart. Hubbard proved far more effective than Sanders last year and would likely get the first crack at the starting gig if Brooks misses any time.

Dave Canales said edge rusher DJ Johnson, who was carted off on Tuesday, has a calf injury and is shut down the remainder of mandatory minicamp. The Panthers' coach expects Johnson back full by training camp. — David Newton (@DNewtonespn) June 11, 2024

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports free agent WR Hakeem Butler is expected to work out for the Panthers before the team heads into summer break. Butler was a fourth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2019 and has appeared in just two games since entering the league. Still waiting to catch his first NFL pass, Butler was named the UFL’s Offensive Player of the Year this season after going for 45-652-5 as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. The 6-foot-5 speedster who once blazed a 4.48 at the NFL Scouting Combine could have a chance to earn an invite to Panthers training camp if all goes well, but he would be a long shot to make the 53-man roster at this time.

Miami Dolphins After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft, Davis signed with the Miami Dolphins on April 30, 2023.[12] He was waived on August 29, 2023 due to his in-game injury.[13] Injury On August 26, 2023, during the fourth quarter of the Week 3 preseason game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, Davis suffered an injury after sustaining a hit from Jaguars linebacker Dequan Jackson while the wideout was attempting to catch a pass from teammate James Blackman. Jackson appeared to make helmet-to-helmet contact with Davis, drawing an unnecessary roughness flag after the play and leaving Davis immobilized and later carted off the field. The game was later suspended with 8 minutes and 32 seconds remaining, with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel saying, "The two teams agreed that football shouldn't be played anymore tonight." This was the second game to be suspended in the 2023 NFL season as the first involved Patriots cornerback Isaiah Bolden after a Week 2 preseason game against the Packers.[14] The next day on August 27, 2023, the Dolphins had released a statement saying that Davis was released from the hospital and would be traveling back to Miami with the team personnel.[15] However two days later on August 29, 2023, Davis was waived by the Dolphins with an injury settlement ahead of the team's cuts for the 53-player roster limit
