  1. CAM NEWTONQB, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT Panther general manager Scott Fitterer said head coach Matt Rhule has talked to Cam Newton about returning to the team in 2022. "It's gotta be a good fit for him. It's gotta be a good fit for us," Fitterer said in a Friday press conference. "The door's still open for us. We'll see where it goes." Thrust into one of the NFL's worst offenses in 2021, Newton was predictably terrible, posting the league's lowest completion rate over expected (CPOE) and the second lowest expected points added (EPA) per play. Only Mike Glennon was worse than Newton in 2021. Newton said in January that we won't play for a bad team in 2022, which would seem to eliminate the horrid Panthers from his options. At this point in his storied career, Newton, 32, is little more than a short-yardage and goal line gadget option for a contending team.
  2. I'd like to see more of Kenny as well
  3. Good stuff. I can see this trade being proposed once again closer to draft time. It makes too much sense not to happen, 9ers like Darnold and were interested in acquiring him last offseason
  4. Panthers paid Juston $4 million last season so we prob re-signed him at $2 million
  5. exactly him and Kenny Robinson will fight it out for that 3rd safety spot
  6. this thread should not exist there was nothing here in the 1st place
  7. We now have Chinn, Woods, Juston, Kenny Robinson, Sam Franklin at the safety spot. It sure looks like we’re looking to play Chinn closer to the line of scrimmage this year
  8. We missed out on Jayron Kearse we still needed a 3rd safety I have no issue with this signing
  9. yeah she’s terribly unreliable don’t think there’s anything here really
  10. - Trade Darnold and CJ Henderson for a 2022 7th rounder - Re-sign Stephon Gilmore - Give up a 2023 3rd rounder for Jimmy Garoppolo.
  11. Looks like the team wants others to think they’re going to take Willis or Pickett at #6
  12. Does not take into account Xavier Woods, Johnny Hekker, Rashaan Melvin
  13. Est. Cap Space (Top 51):$28,993,948 https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/cap/
  14. Think more along the lines of Derek Barnett from the Eagles or Kemoko Turay of the Colts as possible FA additions
  15. The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports the Panthers "don’t intend to pursue a trade for Browns QB Baker Mayfield at this time." With Matt Ryan landing in Indianapolis and the Panthers reportedly not interested, Mayfield is nearly out of options. The Seahawks are the last logical spot for the former first-overall pick. Referring to Seattle, Howe added, "Mayfield has some advocates in the building." With no other buyers on the market, the Seahawks should be able to acquire Mayfield for an incredibly low price. Mayfield would be paired up with an elite receiving duo in Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf but his new coaching staff also trends toward the run to a fault. At this point, a starting gig is all Mayfield can ask for.
