VIC FANGIOCS, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT CBS Sports' Josina Anderson reports the Dolphins interviewed ex-Broncos coach Vic Fangio for their defensive coordinator job. According to Anderson, Fangio's interview was more than a run-of-the-mill meeting. Anderson noted that the team was expected to discuss terms and conditions with Fangio and that head coach Mike McDaniel "has a strong affinity" for the long-time coach. Fangio served as a defensive consultant for the Eagles this past season after being fired by the Broncos at the end of the 2021 campaign. Still, the 64-year-old coach remains one of the more coveted defensive coordinators on the market, with years of experience and top-ranked defenses lining his resume. In his final two seasons as the Bears defensive coordinator, Fangio's defense ranked ninth and first in points allowed per game.

The Panthers are conducting a second interview with former Colts coach Frank Reich today in Charlotte, per source. He's gained steam as a candidate, with David Tepper seemingly pivoting to more experienced coaches through the process. Frank Reich would honestly be a very underwhelming hire but probably the correct choice. The fan base would certainly be less than impressed but a year from now we might look back and say, yeah Reich was the right guy for this job.

ESPN's Nick Wagoner reports 49ers DC DeMeco Ryans will not interview for the Panthers' head coaching vacancy after the two sides were unable to arrange a time for an interview. The Panthers are officially on to their second round of coaching interviews. Unfortunately for them, it won't include Ryans, as the two sides were unable to schedule an interview during the open window period last week. Ryans has arguably been the most coveted head coaching candidate on the market this offseason, but he and the 49ers are also in the middle of a playoff run. With limited time to speak to prospective teams due to league rules, the 49ers' defensive coordinator has only met with the Broncos and Texans thus far but is also expected to meet with the Colts and Cardinals.
