  4. Sam Martin CARPunter#8 Panthers signed P Sam Martin to a one-year contract. Martin was released by the Bills on Thursday, and it didn’t take too long for the 35-year-old to find a new home. The veteran punter averaged 46.7 yards per punt and ranked 11th with 46.3 percent of his punts landing inside of the 20-yard line. The Panthers offense looked vastly improved at the end of 2024, but he should get plenty of chances to punt the football in 2025.

Carolina is swapping out 35 year old kickers. So, at least a few people will still understand "Pete & Pete" and "Secret World of Alex Mack" references in the locker room.

  8. "The Carolina Panthers came close to landing Milton Williams, and then circled back to fill a pressing need on their defensive interior. It’s an enormous payday for [Tershawn] Wharton, who had a career year with 6.5 sacks in 2024. While Wharton deserved a significant bump, this is enormous money for a player who has enjoyed one above-average campaign and only once has exceeded 50% of the defensive snaps in a season. At 26 years old, there’s ample room to grow, but the Panthers are betting on Wharton not only getting better but becoming a Pro Bowl-caliber player to justify the contract." Matt Verderame SI.com

  13. Josh Klein: Utilizing restraint and not letting their top free agent or trade target go because the compensation got too high was not something the Panthers were doing two years ago. When your job is on the line, you make moves to appease your boss and for short term success. Having a multi-year plan and sticking to it is a recipe for (dare I say it) sustained excellence. You need to hit on the players you bring in, but I am a big believer that good process leads to good results most of the time. The last 24 hours was good process, imo.
  14. Money would not be an issue to Tepper unlike that cheapskate Bengals owner. I’d worry about the massive compensation we would have to give up, multiple 1st rounders
  15. We need a specific type of WR a speedy field stretcher type Darius Slayton would have fit maybe Nick Westbrook from Tennessee is an option
  16. Per Mike Kaye My view on today with some quick Kaye's Takes: - Re-signing the starting CBs through 2026 is good stability, even if Jackson's contract doesn't prohibit you from investing a high pick in another CB. - Moehrig is exactly what the #Panthers needed from a tone-setting perspective at safety. He's an excellent run defender and has a nose for the ball as a playmaker. - Wharton and Brown complement each other, really. Brown is the two-down run defender, while Wharton can play a few different positions as an interior pass rusher. They can rotate. Carolina clearly wants to use DL platoons, and their additions help that with DB and AR. - Jones fits the opportunistic model of free agency. Get a guy off this rookie deal with upside and flashes and see if he can be a bigger contributor in your scheme. Good size and mid-20s. I get it even if it's seemingly underwhelming at edge on Day 1.
