Art Stapleton (NY media) Jaycee Horn possible trade candidate
Captroop replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh no. With them starting, we'll have no shot at a playoff run! Horn is a injury waiting to happen. If we can fleece someone for a first I'm all for it. We're a garbage team, and our only way out of rebuilding purgatory is hitting on some draft picks (who actually see the field consistently). If we can move him, do it -
I am exactly as interested in the team as they give me reason to be interested. I can slog through watching a bad team. I've done it before. I've rallied on Sunday mornings knowing we were in for a shellacking, and still managed to muster some enthusiasm. But what, I ask you, what is there for me to get excited about right now? Okay, snarkiness aside, I have one thing to look forward to, and that's to watch a punishing defense again. But on the other hand, I don't know if that is worth enduring offensive ineptitude, and even that comes with the creeping dread that when Evero gets poached, we're back to having nothing to get excited about.

The way he was featured tonight, it seems like he probably isn't, and the coaches want to show him off for other teams so he gets a shot. Why give him such good tape in garbage time if you are trying to stash him?

This. How can you possibly make decisions on cuts when you're QB is putting up 42 yards through 3 quarters?

I never thought Darnold nor Baker were the problem, and frankly I think giving up on them both was a huge mistake. I don't think hey would have been world-beaters, but if anything the QB carousel we've seen the last several seasons shows that the QBs under-performing was the symptom, not the disease. Terrible line. Mediocre talent at the skill positions. Uninspired coaching. No QB could step into the Carolinas for the better half of a decade and hope to be successful. I was always in favor of trotting out Darnold to be "good enough" to helm a floundering team, and at least have some consistency at the position while we build a good team up around him. Then turn the reins over to an heir apparent. But for some reason, a huge chunk of this fanbase, and apparently the front office was obsessed with the idea that we needed to spend a high pick on a "franchise QB" now. Well, how did that work out? No better off in the QB situation, and talent poor as a result of the trades to make our QB situation possible. Our intolerance for a little spell of mediocrity has earned us a decade of irrelevance.

I predict this is Bryce's last year as a Panthers QB. And the first six games of the season are his last as a starting QB. He's destined to be a backup somewhere. Even if he had the game to overcome his staggering lack of physical tools, his lack of ability to rally the locker room is the last nail in the coffin. New coach, no commitment to the smurf. And we have a first again this year, that I honestly think could be another #1 overall pick. So it's basically a complete reset of where we were before 2023 draft. But here's the really uncomfortable prediction: We're stuck in the rebuilding basement for the foreseeable future. And we will remain there until we hit on a QB in the draft. We're going to see rotating casts of mediocre players, coaches, schemes and systems and we're going to remain a low to low-middlin' team. Our savior will not come in the form of a journeyman QB. And this franchise will not attract a bona fide star. But our destinies will radically change when we pick the right QB. It happened with Cam and SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED WITH STROUD! JESUS TAP-DANCING CHRIST WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! And here is the other prediction. That will not happen if it does not happen organically. i.e. DON'T MORTGAGE YOUR ENTIRE GODDAM FUTURE TO MOVE UP TO #1! So get cozy in basement. We're here for a while. The only question is what happens first? We get lucky on our QB of the future, or Tepper decides to re-locate his failing venture to an NFL hungry city.

Okay, that was like watching old people f***, I admit. But overall, I'm quite impressed with the defense. Evero showing once again why he is and should be a sought after HC candidate. He really can make chicken salad out of chicken poo. The offense looked as bad as I expected given that we inexplicably rested our starters. And the really sad part is I don't expect much improvement when they are on the field.

Here's the real story: the fact that we convinced Evero to stick around another year is our Super Bowl.
-
I won't hold a grudge against him. Going less than 100% on field conditions like this? He's not fighting for a spot, and we can't afford any season ending injuries.
-
He's standing behind the water boy.

Hot take: I'd rather have Zappe than anyone in our QB room
-
What dirt does this LT have on the refs? He false starts EVERY SNAP
-
D is STOUT!
-
Missed false start. Badly.
-
In our WRs' defense, they're used to catching softballs from Bryce. This might as well be a JUGS machine at 5 paces by comparison.

Huddle Legend! Wishing Mr. Scot all the best and a swift recovery!

I think he's confusing his fast fashion brands.

Good film breakdown of Young. Good and bad. Film examples
Captroop replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly, irrespective of Bryce, this is my hope for Canales. I hate hearing about him being a "QB whisperer." Because I don't give a rat's ass about him saving Bryce's career. Bryce either proves to be worth what we gave up for him, or it's next man up. I'm just excited to have a young, innovative offensive mind. -
BREAKING: Panthers signing Rashad Penny
Captroop replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The guy has a career 5.6 yard per carry average. That's just absurd! If he could only stay healthy, boy what a weapon he'll be. -
I don't know why but I'm more excited about Coker than I am about most of our draft class. I just think he can step in and be successful on our team right away. Smitty was talking in his video about him being successful if he goes to a team with the right scheme. Then talked about how with his shuttle drill speed he can step into the slot and win on timing and technique. And I was just flashing back to every JT O'Sullivan video where he was ragging on Thielen being so slow on his routes. And it occurred to me, Coker is younger, faster, twitchier Adam Thielen. So Coker is stepping onto a team that schemed around the WR1 having exactly his skill set. And arguably Coker can do it better at this point in Thielen's career. I really think he will be rostered, will suit up on game day and will contribute this year.

Panthers Select Jaden Crumedy DT Mississippi, Pick 200 Round 6
Captroop replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Okay. Jon Snow's Ass - Tight End - Butte College 6th Round Pros: Great size. Excellent Receiver. Always near the balls. Hungry. Cons: Needs more time in the gym. Prone to spew poo on the field. Consensus: Good late round prospect, but cracks and holes in his game taint his possibility of going any earlier. -
I'm just thinking, because we've put so much into propping up Bryce and surrounding him with talent to make this a make or break year, that Bryce will suffer a season ending injury in the preseason or the first few weeks. Us getting stuck in "is he or isn't he?" limbo for another year is the most Panthers thing that could happen to us.

B.S. Micah Parsons was on the board. We'd just lost Luke. That was the right pick and I'll die on that hill.
