Here's the thing. Each coach brings in talent that fits his scheme. So when you change coaches every year you end up with a discordant mishmash of players that don't work together. We need to at least stay the course with Canales for a while and allow him to bring in players who work in his scheme. A coach with inherited talent will NEVER be successful. Especially when it's a coach coming into the #1 draft spot because they were the worst in the league. Especially when they don't even have a #1 pick for their troubles!

Don't wish that juju on us. I hope we at least have one bit of consistency to build on. We gave up on Darnold and Baker too soon. Clearly. At a certain point we have to stop throwing away all our talent because of short term frustrations. the only thing worse than a bad team is a turbulent bad team. Stay the course in one area at least, and coaching is a good place to invest in.

This. That thinking is the reason we don't have Moore, CMC and Burns. This isn't MLB where you can be savvy picking up AAA prospects for the future. This is a 53 man squad. And eventually you need to realize you have to hold onto the talent you have.

Is Young the worst #1 pick in NFL history?
Captroop replied to BIGH2001's topic in Carolina Panthers
I got dunked on last year for asking if this was the worst trade of all time. It's already bad. And the funny thing is it's not done yet. We STILL have a second round pick coming up that we gave up for Bryce. -
Honestly, I feel bad for Bryce. I know, I know. Millionaire set for life. I get it. But this is a guy who presumably loves playing a kids game. Had high expectations. Had a franchise put on his back. And he's just awful. And I think he knows it. And his team is frustrated with him. The fans hate him. But we keep trotting him out because we bet the farm on him I feel for the kid because this can't be fun. Honestly, the kindest thing we can do is let him go and be forgotten before his name is synonymous with "worst of all time"

Pull that bag on, brother. Just pull it on.
-
Lol! Who? Who is saying that?
-
Honestly, the pub I'm at has bangin' pizza. Otherwise this would be a completely wasted afternoon
-
Honestly, our only hope is to make owning this team so unpalatable that he sells. He's doing a fine job on his own, but we as fans really need to do our bit and be collosal assholes and trolls to him specifically until he sells.
-
Honestly, what's worse optics for the franchise? Benching your #1 overall pick 6 quarters into his second season, never to be seen again? Or trotting him back out after the half for more of the same?
-
First thing we've done right all day. Quality punt
-
We have a second round pick?
-
Okay, fug it. Let's start the conversation now.
-
See? Told you we'd get another drive this half.
-
Should be the next drive. Whether or not it's the half.
-
Okay. That's it. Dalton time. Look at Bryce's face after that pick. Even he's done.
-
I was gonna make this a thread on it's own, but I'll re-ask it officially in a couple of weeks if this continues: At what point do the 2024 Panthers enter the conversation of "Worst NFL Teams of All Time?"
-
Don't make me bump the Darnold/Mayfield thread
-
Okay, honestly, if you're the chargers, why not go on 4th and 1? Worst case you turnover on downs and the Panthers offense takes you closer to the end zone anyway.
-
OMG that graphic. "1.0 yards per play"
-
Fire
-
Lol! I was like, at least we're in field goal range! For God sake! Bench Bryce!
-
Well fug me sideways. Good one, Horn!
-
Cope for passing on Parsons. Has been from the day we drafted him.

I saw a Patriots fan on Reddit say, "Panthers fans are the realest fans of the sport of football." We've crossed the threshold where even Bostonians can't find joy in trolling us. We're genuinely pitiable. Ouch.
