  1. This. I don't think I could make myself sit down for the entire overtime. Just anxious pacing the entire time.
  2. I don't know how much money Kate Bush made off the revival she's enjoyed these last 3 months, but man, she should give the Duffer Brothers a cut.
  3. I like Zylstra for that sure-handed down the depth chart role that Ricky Proehl used to fill. He might only see the field on 4 or 5 WR sets, but when it's 4th and whatever, you know he's gonna haul in that catch.
  4. And just to keep it apropos to the thread: Gettleman draft picks in a nutshell
  5. Same! And you beat me to making this comment verbatim. We ought to start a RLM thread in the lounge. I still haven't seen Top Gun, but when RLM posts a new video, I'll talk about that all day!
  6. Great production, and great clips. These are always a highlight of the offseason. This video is encouraging me to stop hanging out on the Huddle so much. I realized watching this, if I didn't spend so much time here, I wouldn't have an opinion on who should be starting or how many reps someone should be getting. I'd just be enjoying watching Panthers football, and rooting for whoever is taking snaps under center. I like Baker. Have liked him for years, and if you'd told me a couple years ago he'd be a Panthers QB, I'd do a backflip. I like Darnold. He's never had anything but an atrocious team and an atrocious O-Line in front of him, and part of me really wouldn't mind him starting week 1 because I don't think we've actually see him perform up to his potential. Dammit, I'm optimistic, and the only reason I feel an reservation in being optimistic is the constant negativity and criticism flying around here. More of this. More of watching these guys grind and have fun. And less pissing and moaning and armchair GM-ing.
  7. I really wonder what everyone's excuse would be if Corral was getting all the practice reps and still looked like crap. He's a rookie. He's a third rounder. He's 4th on the depth chart. Jesus you people need to chill out.
  8. I don't think a bad performance today is in any way telling or unexpected. But I have to admit, the "Young Lion" posters have been so obnoxious the last few weeks, I was actually rooting for and enjoying the hell out of his shitshow performance. He'll get better and I think he could be a quality player in time. But he damn sure ain't ready now, and no amount of preseason reps would have made him the guy this year. He needs time on the bench to learn the speed of the game. And we need to focus on the QB who can lead us this year.
  9. I don't understand. Was Corral not doing mental reps on the sidelines or something?
  10. Quick! Someone tell me how many training camp reps Howell got!
  11. Welp. He looks like a rookie. Throwing hospital balls and staring down his receiver.
  12. This. NFL Football is my #1 favorite sport. And you couldn't pay me enough to go and attend a live game. It's a miserable experience if you're actually trying to see the game, and 100% of the games I've attended included embarrassing drunken belligerence. The last game I went to was a pre-season game up here in Baltimore and I saw a very drunk Ravens fan punch out a very drunk female Panthers fan, and I was straight up Peter Griffon "Done!" gif with the whole in person "experience" at that point.
  13. I suspect someone gets stashed on the IR. Moore Anderson Higgins Smith Zylstra - Roberts (KR/PR) Saunders and Kirkwood will shoot it out with Zylstra for the last spot. But I think Zylstra nabs it. He's reliable, sturdy and has proven he can haul in a catch during real games. That always wins out over training camp heroes. And I suspect TMJ or Smith gets IR'd by the end of pre-season.
  14. I want to see Baker in a live game, and how our offense clicks with him under center. Do we have the confidence to open it up a little. I don't expect McAdoo to show too much of his playbook, but I want to see if our QB and WR corps can stretch the field vertically.
  15. Someone put a protection detail on Matt Corral. Otherwise this guy's gonna be on his leg like a chihuahua in heat.
  16. I just hope somewhat decent QB play (which we've definitely not had the last 2.5 years) will decrease our reliance on CMC to be the bulk of our offense. I understand the whole he's paid to play, and he's a unique weapon. But damn, there's a smart way to use a weapon. We treat CMC like a knife on Forged in Fire.
  17. Baker Mayfield was a top QB in the draft. Sam Darnold was arguably a top QB in the draft. Jameis Winston was a top QB in the draft. And if you're dysfunctional enough to have the number 1 overall pick, the odds are better than chance that the top QB in the draft isn't going to be your franchise savior. So maybe you should start rooting for the team to do well with the pieces we have, and get over your loser mentality of hoping we suck enough that next year we might find a magic bullet.
  18. That was my always my thinking. OBJ was and is just a headcase, and his talent doesn't balance out the radioactivity and distraction he brings to a locker room. And I remember distinctly thinking after watching Baker's really impressive, but raw rookie year that OBJ was the worst person you could add to the Browns if you're trying to help Baker develop. Now OBJ's on his third team, and the Browns gave up on their #1 overall pick. Baker's gonna surprise people here.
  19. The pick isn't what matters. Hell, we should throw in a 7h round pick! What matters is offloading his salary and cap hit, which we'd take if we cut him. I have said elsewhere, we should all be rooting for Sam to show out in Training Camp and the Pre-Season so when Stafford's arm doesn't get better, Sam is worth a look.
