Someone needs to make a McAdoo's Towel alt account
-
We will lose. I know we will because I have hope. Any opportunity for us to do something convincing, we have squandered. We had the opportunity to take the lead in the Division outright against the Mariota-led Falcons. We blew it. We had a chance to pull even with TB against the floundering Steelers. We blew it. We have a chance to win this weekend and take command of the South. We will blow it. Brady is a star, this is his swan song, and the league loves to use the Panthers to let a star go out on a high note. I have no confidence that we can win a game that we have no reasonable excuse for losing. There. Now my expectations are on the floor, where they actually belong. And I'm setting myself up to be pleasantly surprised.

Push To The Superbowl Panthers Lions GameDay Thread

Ehhhh, I don't chalk a bad center QB exchange up to the defense. They did fall on it, but I'd say we got bailed out. -
Push To The Superbowl Panthers Lions GameDay Thread

91 yard drive. Amazing work by the offense! Good job by the line establishing the run. Now the defense needs to respond and show that they won't let the Lions just grind their way down the field. -
Lost in the craziness of the NFCS and the let-down of yesterday is that our replacement kicker, Eddy Pineiro is quietly putting together a really nice season. He hasn't missed a Field Goal since October, and he's only missed 2 on the season. The disaster in Atlanta notwithstanding (or maybe in a display of some much needed moxie) Eddy's rebounded nicely and doesn't seem to have been shaken by that loss. And where early in his Panthers tenure, when we seemed to punt in lieu of long FG attempts, it now seems like the coaching staff is starting to trust him more. Yesterday, rather than go for the Hail Mary and go for the tying FG after the on-side kick, Wilks put Pineiro in there to kick a long FG to keep our faint hopes alive. And he nailed it right down the center and with leg to spare. So, is he just putting good tape out there for someone else to take a chance on him, or do you think we keep him even after Gonzalez gets healthy?

Meanwhile Butker looks like ass.

Okay. Tank is back on. This showed who we are. At team that can't close when given the opportunity. The Steelers third down efficiency is the microcosm of our issue. We're given opportunities to succeed and we just can't take advantage.
-
Used our own gameplan against up. Win up front. We lost the line on both offense and defense. It's really hard to win when every runbis good for 3 or 4 yards. You'll see, oh, I don't know, a 21 play 10 minute drive.

Make the playoffs AND spoil possibly not just one, but TWO division rivals' chances at winning the division? I'm all in on that.
-
This. Either LB Coach, or something like Pass Defense Coordinator. I don't have any doubt that he'd thrive in the role. And let him work his way up the chain. A lunch-pail guy like Luke would want to earn the job anyway.
-
Best? No. But right now it's got to be the most entertaining. It's December and every team has a legitimate shot at the playoffs. I guess you could say the same about the NFC East, but I'd argue it's more fun to watch this race. The NFC South playoff race is like watching four fat guys tumbling down the up escalator. Someone is going to get to the top first.

They're bad teams that are playing poorly. We're the laughingstock because only now after we made our move are we showing in how bad of a state we really were. It's like grandma just died and you go to her house and discover she was a hoarder living in filth, and every room you go in realize how bad the situation was, and now you need a professional, chemical deep cleaning if you have any hope of salvaging the house. The death of the season was only the beginning of the indignity.

Deservedly. On the shortest of weeks, in Primetime, for the world to see in neon lights, we are the biggest joke in the league right now. And Matt Rhule manged to get another job. Dream big because you can do anything, kids.

This. McAdoo was the best OC Rhule could get to rudder his sinking ship. There's nothing he can do to save his job here. If he had a prayer, Baker drove the last nail in the coffin tonight.
-
Sam's eyeing that 49ers job now. "If you adjust my QBR on the Rhule curve, you'll see it translates to a 98.5 QBR."
-
I really wanted to see this Baker in Carolina. Like, a lot. This just shows once again how bad Rhule was. He was here for 2.5 years, but he set the team back a decade. But let me just say this, possibly the hottest of takes: This could be Darnold. He played for Gase and Rhule. That's it. For all we know, with a competent coach and an OC who can scheme for our QB, it's possible the answer is on the roster. If that seems improbable, remember Baker has the worst QBR in football with the Panthers. He was 1-5. We were debating in this very forum if he was as bad as pickles; if he was our worst QB ever. With 2 days on a staff with an actual NFL coach, he learns an offense well enough to lead a 95 yard game winning drive. Honestly, when it comes to evaluating QBs, throw our EVERYTHING you have seen in the Matt Rhule era. We truly don't know the potential of what we have.

I was gonna say it's amazing that he looks better prepared with 36 hours of practice than he did with an entire off-season with the Panthers. And then I remember... https://images.app.goo.gl/fqEmEejBa3dNtj2F9

Icky should be offensive rookie of the year
Captroop replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Offensive linemen don't have exciting stats. So the only way he was going to stand out was if the team was doing well. Considering that he's pass blocking for Baker, Sam and PJ on a 4-8 team, he's got a better chance of winning the PowerBall. Agree that we should just celebrate knowing that we have a LT for the future. -
I haven't bought a jersey since the golden era. Had Jake, Pep, and Smitty. Now I buy "jersey" T-Shirts, since it looks ridiculous for a grown man to walk around wearing a jersey. And I have only bought 2 of those; Cam and Chinn. I got a CMC jersey as a gift, which I never wore, and my buddy bought me a Cam Patriots jersey. Real wiseguy that buddy of mine.

Anthony Richardson declares for the draft
Captroop replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't like how he scores on the "Wide Open!" test. But I have to admit, his footage is exciting. And a felt a my heart race when I heard the announcer yell "Superman" when he dove into the end zone. Consider me interested. I'm not thrilled about any of the other QBs, so what the hell? Roll the dice and see if we can get the boom end of a boom/bust pick. -
I don't know how much he was in on the decision, but passing on Micah Parsons for Jaycee Horn. Don't get me wrong, I like Horn. But I don't know how you miss an opportunity to replace the irreplaceable in Luke, cement the MLB position for a decade, and have arguably the best defensive player in the league, and don't call it a mistake.
-
High risk in that they were counting on Baker to be the QB of the future and save their jobs.
-
It was a high-risk, high-reward wager by the Rhule regime that he'd return to form after his shoulder injury. And if his shoulder was pre-2021 shape, it would have paid off. Behind this line, 2019-2020 era Baker probably would have won games. But it's clear as day that shoulder injury is probably lasting. And that's why Rhule is in Nebraska today.
-
Doesn't hurt us, and can only help Baker. But even for a QB hungry team, I don't see Bake being anything more than a backup. He's got no velocity on his throws, and he's not a game manager. No one's bringing him in to lead a playoff run.
