Yeah, I wouldn't make the move because he's the emergency QB, and at this point Corrall knows our playbook and Zappe doesn't. But Zappe a materially better QB. He's provably healthier, has 4 games of NFL regular season experience, and did well when given the chance. Frankly I get the feeling Zappe only got cut because they don't want a QB controversy when Mac Jones is lukewarm again.

Zappe has a 100.9 passer rating in real, live NFL games. Corrall has struggled against Subway sandwich artists. Not saying we should go get him, but how can you say that with a straight face?

Got my eyes locked on the Lions cuts, because I'd love to grab Steven Gilmore

Woof. Boy was Little a miss. I can't believe Fitt managed to get a 7th for him. I often wonder how different things would have been if we'd managed to hit on even some of our offensive lineman draft picks after Kalil.

Official Lions at Panthers damn it's hot out GameDay thread

Well, get the bullshit calls out of the way in the preseason, refs. -

Reading the box ticker, Gilmore is in on every play. Get that man on our roster! -
I have no idea what it is, but I'll take an invite. I was one of the people who got an invite to this new fangled email service called Google Mail when I was in high school and that worked out, so I always like to be an early adopter when I get an opportunity.

mood Visual and aesthetics aside, it's a tough game. And yes the OL has been bad (nickle for every time I've said that over the last 4 years) but the one thing we heard about him over and over when his size came up is that he's so nimble and has such incredible pocket presence that he never allows himself to absorb those kinds of vicious hits that could shorten his career. Well based on 5+ hits and 2 sacks in 6 drives... We gave up a sh*tload to get him, so he better be made of steel, because a 350lb+ lineman don't give a crap how smart you are when he lands on you.

Preseason Game #2 - who impressed/who disappointed
Captroop replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pendulum swing to how long we were patient with Rhule. The Rhule era made a big chunk of the fantasy cynical when it came to coaching -
Franklin has been a bright spot.

I'm a little worried about him getting David Carr'd at this point. Supreme confidence last week. This week I already see nervous feet. That internal clock it ticking, one, two, POW! He almost had a phantom sack on his first drive. This keeps up, I worry he'll get shell shocked.

I'm SO RELIEVED I didn't waste money on NFL Sunday Ticket this season. We may be embarrassing, but spending $700 to watch an embarrassment is worse.
-
I'm literally staying in the same hotel with the Jacksonville Jaguars right now. I'm genuinely embarrassed to be wearing my Panthers shirt in front of them. I might ask them for a jersey and start a fresh.

I'm struggling to find one aspect of the game we are playing at a professional level right now. If we weren't drawing penalties we'd still be scoreless on the preseason.

Who impressed and who sucked - preseason game 1
Captroop replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He is an absolute shutdown corner... on a team's #2 or #3 receiver. And that's not a knock! That's a great thing to have. But so much hinges on Horn staying healthy. If we have to reshuffle the secondary, our Defense is going to look very mediocre. -
It's Jets joint practice Day 1 (8.9.2023)

If you liked nothing else about the new regime, you'd still have to be fugging' stoked with how much our former greats are involved with the team. -
Von Miller: The Panthers were the better team
Captroop replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've re-watched 38 several times. It was a damn good game. Although some re-watches I stop after after the Muhammad touchdown, because as soon as it cuts to Foxy holding up 2 fingers, I get flashbacks to the worry sneaking in while I was watching the game live. And I've never made it to the Kasay kickoff while re-watching. 50 was a miserable night, and I can't relive it. The worst end to one of the most incredible teams and incredible seasons in NFL history. That team should be in discussion of one of the best of all time, and I think anyone serious about the game knows it. Instead that team and that season is and will only be remembered as a gif of Cam not falling on the fumble. Fug SB50. -

It was a catch. Refs don't botch that one, there is no strip sack, the wheels don't fall off. Peyton Manning's final game was a Super Bowl victory. The league got the story line it wanted. Whether or not they made it happen is left to speculation. -
Dunno about Cleveland, but he's going to be someone's starter in 3 years for sure. He's got that Mahomes-like ability to play against professionals and make it looks like a back-yard pickup game. He plays like a kid, and you love to see it!

45 through the air. I can't math. Still, 45 with perfect placement is a damn-good throw.

Looked like from the 20 to the 35, so 45 yards through the air?

Verizon is offering NFL Sunday Ticket for free
Captroop replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nope. Fug YouTube Sunday Ticket. With YouTube TV and the promotional price, the cost for the season is almost $700. Considering we have 2 prime-time games, and for various life circumstances, I end up missing 1-2 games per year, that's roughly $50 per game I watch on Sunday Ticket. I literally could go watch at my neighborhood bar for less money. I can bust out my jerseys. I can be surrounded by people and have a communal experience. And I can support a local business rather than Google. So that's exactly what I'm gonna do. And I want to make it known that's what I'm doing. You want to make your money back on your multi-billion dollar investment back, Google? Then as an 8 years loyal DirecTV Sunday Ticket subscriber, I'm exactly the customer you were counting on when you were crunching the numbers. And you lost me. And will continue to do so until you lower that ridiculous price. -

Gettleman was a bitter little man with a power complex and no real ability. I hold him responsible for destroying Cam Newton's career by never adequately investing in protection for him. Byron Bell started an entire season at Left Tackle in his second year. What else do you need to know about his ability to manage an NFL roster?
