Think about who SF got on defense for basically nothing: Chase Young and Randy Gregory. With the rest of that defense they ought to be good as hell.

damn grass monster got em

Spags making adjustments on the fly now.... Reid and Spags are good coaches.

Just won that prop bet! Longest FG in SB history.....had Butker doing it in my mind but I don't care if Ray Ray would have kicked it.
-
That Niner defense should have dominated all season long, all the talent in the world. I like Steve Wilkes his due if he shuts the Chiefs/Reid down in the 2nd half. Andy Reid is the best I've seen at offensive changes at halftime than any coach, this is especially true the last 5-7 years.

CBS will air the Super Bowl in 4K (but there's a catch)
Rocky Davis replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
yeah just like true 1080p took years to become somewhat standard, it's going to take longer for 4K, and these TV companies already trying to sell people on 8K. It's crazy. Pushing further than what our eyes can really discern, I am happy with my 120Hz 4k that mostly shows 1080p programming. Not buying again for a long, long time. -
Be nice to roll out the 2011 or 2012 (2005 would be unreal) Steve Smith out there during training camp and challenge Horn to stop him, talk smack to him the entire camp, get under his skin make him want to compete and shut him down and up. We don't have anyone on the roster like that to make Horn better and he needs more dawg in him...he needs to want to shut his man down every Sunday. If we can get that Horn I'd want him here for a long time. These upcoming seasons are put up or shut up from Jaycee.

I don't know if anyone has ever brought it up, but Rhule was the guy who had the idea to use a vinegar based sauce on chopped pork and call it Eastern style NC BBQ even though he had never lived in NC......the man is from a different timeline I tell you.

In other former coach news, Steve Wilks...
Rocky Davis replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I rather Wilks be my Head Coach than my defensive coordinator. -
Not too well, surprised Frank would consider Caldwell a mentor since he already had been an NFL head coach in Indy. I totally agree that Canales should have his say on his staff, but if he has some relationship or knows Caldwell from his time in the league I really don't have a problem with Caldwell staying. It's not like we are talking about Campen or even Tabor who I believe did suck up to Tepper.
-
Regarding Caldwell, a lot of people need to remember he had a winning record in Detroit with a lot less talent than the Lions have now and made the playoffs twice in 4 years. They fired him and I know a lot of Lions fans weren't happy. The Lions then hired Patricia from the Patriots who couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. He is well respected around the league and feel like he is an asset rather than a liability for the team.

this reminds me of a really good running back who was able to stay healthy and get a HUGE second contract and then couldn't so much get outta bed without pulling or tearing some muscle somewhere. Traded him and now he plays through those nagging little injuries and even after he lands on his head being tackled.
-
Caldwell wasn't brought in to oversee the 2023 O - that was always going to be Reich and Brown as his understudy. I never heard that Caldwell had a hand in any offensive game planning. My impression was Caldwell was brought in to work with Brown and the offensive assistants and Reich, very much like Capers did with Evero and the defense.

Adam Schefter reports Panthers targeting Brandt Tillis
Rocky Davis replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Reid is a damn good coach and mentor to his assistants. His fingerprints were all over the Chiefs run to the SB on the offensive side of the ball, especially against Buffalo and Baltimore. -

I think that's too big a risk to take after everything that went down this year. -

That was such a terrible decision. It was a massive haul for an Edge and on top of that gave Burns and his camp all the leverage in the world....when we all already knew how much Spooderman thought about himself. -

Couldn't we tag and trade and get something for him? As far as him having his revenge game, I'd run the ball at him and also let him rush right up the field and throw HB wheels and short TE "screens" in the area he's vacated. -

Burns cannot contain the run and has no ability to drop back in coverage. He has one mode: rush QB. Even with that mode he isn't a game changer on this team as it currently stands. Luvu and Brown are much more important and the savings to rebuild to team are as well. -

maybe the Marley Girl can swing back around?? -
but, but those six plays were really 12 because we flipped the routes and ran them the other way.

I may be surprised, but I don't think Evero gets a HC job this cycle. The best thing I think for him and the Panthers is for him to come back and our D stays healthy and balls out. Then Evero gets his HC shot! It is apparent from last year his guys played hard for him and if we can just maintain some sort of health on the defensive side of the ball our D isn't too far from being good and if they buy into keep pounding they could be much better than good.
-
You think so? I mean that's a pretty big bust, may be willing to agree with you after watching him one more season.

I think Ejiro and staff may just stay. Canales had two opportunities to play against his defense and game plan and Tampa didn't look too hot....and that was with our MASH defensive unit. I would honestly hate to lose Ejiro.
