  1. Oh yeah, if we get Armstead we aren't getting Honey Badger. Only so much $$$ to go around. Masterful job so far by Fitts and Morgan.
  2. Cleveland mortgaging their future on Watson with limited offensive options and the shackles they just placed on themselves to get better in the future.
  3. With all due respect to what you know, the Saints and Falcons both could have made it happen. In fact, if you look at all the restructuring the Saints were/are doing they were doing it implicitly to land Watson. The big hurdle for the Failcons was Matt Ryan, his contract, and bonus. All of which could have been handled with a trade (excluding the bonus payment which Atlanta could have made), and some waiving and restructuring of some of their players. To simply say the Saints and Falcons couldn't make it happen are just not correct. In the end though, they couldn't make that extra $230 million happen. DW is all about that $$$ because he's got some civil suits to settle.
  4. @Toomersyou have to be pretty thrilled with this news?
  5. Verge has sources just like Ellis does - different but from the same sphere of the organization/NFL personnel. Some people just have relatives that give them tidbits here and there. I trust Verge and Ellis over the relatives. BTW, Honey Badger isn't off the table.
  6. It is obvious this is now Fitterer and Morgan's team to put together, I think Rhule may have been put in his place. Not saying he doesn't have some input, but it isn't his calls. Maybe he's learned something......and Tepper has too.
  7. This - wouldn't come here last year, wanted Miami. Didn't want to come here this year because he initially wanted New Orleans and things got better when Atlanta called and he can play the whole "coming home" narrative. Watson wants a "home" that has a more particular nightlife than Charlotte could offer - oh and the fact that maybe ownership and the head coach hadn't treated QBs like a turnstile at the fair. (Yes, if he ends up in Atlanta Matt Ryan will know that feeling.) I am more on the side of this situation where I didn't think the cost was worth the gain. Mortgaging our future for an unknown return isn't always the best idea....ask the Vikings about it. Would Watson have made us better? Maybe offensively, not terribly sure about defensively since we'd be shipping out a couple of our best D players in return for him. Does he get us to where we want to be as franchise? Again, I don't think Watson on the Panthers gets us anything more than a playoff game or two if that. I am glad that we retained our draft picks and our promising young guys. Now's the time to refocus, move past this embarrassment, build our team up and things will work out like they should if the people who have been hired are allowed to do THEIR SPECIFIC JOBS (owner doesn't go after new shiny toy, head coach coordinates staff and allows his coordinators to work in their specialty areas, head coach learns not to put his foot in his mouth every press conference). Free agent signings this off season have been so much better than last season. Maybe keep the kids occupied with shiny toys and legos and let Fitts and Morgan build this team like it should be. (Worst move was releasing Morgan Fox - he was a bright spot on the team last year and I have to believe was let go just to make space for DW)
  8. I don't think the media is to blame here. Are the Panthers disrespected in other ways? Sure. Should we use that disrespect as motivation? Yes. Do we have the head coach that has been able to channel that? Nope.
  9. I just hope everyone maintains composure and hate the ever loving crap out of DW when he chooses the Aints or Failcons later today. Things work out like they are supposed to folks....on the bright side hopefully Rhule gets fired.
  10. Just a note here on something I read somewhere on Twitter about the deal with Houston: If they pick up Darnold in the trade then Carolina will include another 2nd and 5th round pick in 2024 or 2025 (I can't remember). So Houston would come out with 3 1st round picks, 2 2nd rounders, a 5th rounder, and possibly Burns, Brown or Horn (if Chinn is really off the table). Would Houston really take a 2nd and 5th rounder to take Darnold off our hands and do we really need to sweeten the deal that much???
  11. Rated higher than Tomlinson in pass protection, and hopefully it's a short deal since he is getting older. Of course, getting older doesn't make him any less meaner.....
  12. Sam Mills's HOF selection doesn't need any defense whatsoever. He was WAY more than worthy. End of discussion.
  13. A combination of Tomlinson, Allen, and Cappa would be really nice for this line. My concern is would they even want to come here unless they are being paid a premium since this team is a clusterfug right now? I know money talks and bullcrap walks, but the market for these guys is going to be hot. I don't know if we have the cap space for two solid OL additions.
  14. We didn't hire the HC or the GM I was hoping for. I tried to keep an open mind about Rhule but it is closed now. Verdict is still out for Fitts. He's got this draft and FA to show what he can do, although from the sound of it Rhule can overrule him? Terrible situation we have here.
  15. I would consider re-signing Jackson, but if he gets a $$$ offer from another team I let him walk.
  16. Not much value to be unlocked from just cutting guys. Again, play with the hand you were dealt and the deck of cards you bought. BTW I wouldn't even consider cutting Fox, he was one of our best signings last year.
  17. I don't want any restructuring done to tie our hands in the next 3-5 years. Play with the hand you were dealt and chose. We all know this won't happen, they will restructure quite a few deals and I guess we'll keep kicking the can down the road when we could just swallow next season's failure just as we have done the past couple of seasons. If they re-sign Miller or Burris though I am buying a punching bag for Sundays.
  18. I like Howell a lot and he does have a great arm, throws a beautiful deep ball, and he definitely showed a lot of poise behind that line at Carolina this year. I have him as the #3 QB in this year's draft behind Pickett and Willis. (Willis will either be a huge pick up for a team or a career back up, but his upside is pretty substantial) He reminds me of Justin Fields TBH with you. Big arm, can scramble, but will he make the best decisions for you? He's a bit shorter than Fields too. If the Panthers just absolutely believe there isn't an offensive lineman available to pick at #6 and somehow trade down and recoup some of the picks we lost, I would be OK drafting him later. I don't believe it's going to happen but....you never know!
  19. Lots of cocaine and hookers...... Rodgers isn't coming to Carolina.
  20. Yep, either a mid-level program or one that is trying it's best to become relevant again like Arizona or the like.
  21. Michigan doesn't want Rhule...who in the world would even think that? Rhule may be interested in Michigan as he was apparently with Penn St. and LSU, but neither of those schools would have really wanted him either.
  22. It doesn't matter what QB they can bring in here until they fix the offensive line, until then I say don't waste any more money or draft capital and ride out Sam's 5th year.
