Technically speaking the Panthers don't have to wait to see him workout if they REALLY want him or any of the rest of the QBs to. The player may not love the request, but the Panthers own the #1 pick.
-
It's not AR, if we weren't building such a solid core then I'd say maybe - but we wouldn't have moved to #1 for him either. McAfee has to fill his air time with stuff like this.

She has not aged poorly, I will say that.

He should have never been paid what he was given in the first place. He should get maybe $1M/yr. He is not a complete TE and is only half good at blocking. Thinking about it, this was too harsh. Thomas is fine when he is engaged in the game and is doing his best blocking. I have seen some half assed blocking from him in the past though and then some Grade A too (especially for Cam). So let's hope Ian is motivated and makes 2-3 or those "where the hell did that catch come from" catches next season.

I have said I think Young has the stronger grasp of how to read defenses and process than any of the others. I know it's all about his height/weight for most here, but I am telling you he will be a great NFL QB. Maybe Stroud did well on the S2 too. I really just saw one game where I thought Stroud's pre-snap reads and adjustments stood out and it was against GA where they had a month to prepare. It doesn't work that way in the NFL. Either way, I trust the staff we have to make the right choice!

This Thiesen: I think Adam Thielen isn't coming here and I think she's probably too old now.

Yep, Philly signing Boston Scott means Sanders is on the move. Also, Philly able to retain Bradberry, they are going to play a similar d-scheme as last year.

Svech out Indefinitely Per nhl.com
Rocky Davis replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I don't know why they drug this out until today. I guess they really wanted to see how bad the tear was, I guess Svech did as well. He seems like if there was any way he could have played he was going to. Poor guy..... This puts the Canes squarely behind the 8 ball. -
They think it's a partially torn ACL which might as well be a torn ACL. A player like Svech doesn't go on a partially torn ACL even though some athletes have done it. Makes no sense. He's done for the year unfortunately. Waddles didn't plan on injuries like this during the trade deadline and it's going to come back and bite us in the arse. Svech must be disappointed, but poo happens. Time to step up Aho, Necas, Jarvis, KK,Turbo, and Pool Party.

You wanna see this place have a melt down huh?

Good moves today, interested to see what Foreman will do. Elf was decent at C and held his own, very serviceable backup to Boze but a tad expensive because I think Elf really is only good at C. He never looked great at guard. Will Elf restructure or is he a cut??

Waddles basically pulled a Francis on this team during the trade period again. Got marginal "help" last year and now this year. The Canes are a good team, but every single one of the boys in the room need to play as hard as fuging possible leading up to and during the playoffs if this team has any chance to get beyond the 2nd round. This is just the stone cold truth. If they gave their best the last two games go ahead and save people the time and money and get bounced in the 1st round. If Aho, Svech, Necas, Jarvis etc. are really great players it's time for them to step up. Same goes for Burns, Slavin, Pesce, and Skjei. We don't have the goalies that will put us on their backs and steal games like Cam did...and yes I know it was basically that one playoff year, but the man did it. Andersen, Raanta, and Koochie aren't that guy.
-
I love the Canes and always will, but our goalies will kill us in the playoffs. I already noted that Freddie hasn't been anywhere near his level last year before he got hurt. Raanta is, well, Raanta and Koochie isn't ready. The only thing I believe the Canes can do is hope that we are healthy and double down on playing excellent defense. This means less pinching by Burns especially, but overall by the defense. The D will have to pinch, but these guys aren't dummies they are professional players....pinch at the most optimal times. Burns kills me sometimes with how he is always pinching in and teams have and will take advantage of it. Our offensive lines have to buzz defensively as well. The forecheck has to be better, we have to play lights out during the playoffs and not have any lulls. This team can do it, but they are going to have to step it up immensely to win the Cup. When the Canes are playing their best hockey they are Stanley Cup quality. What we've seen the last couple of games is what has happened in the last couple of years during the playoffs: poor defense and decisions leading to our goalies to have to "steal" games which they are incapable of doing. Also, the great disappearing act of our offense. It all seems to happen at the same time. The only other option is to basically open up the offense (which isn't what Rod likes) and see if you can outscore your opponent and play 6-5 games. I am sure RBA wants the team to be more defensive minded, but it's a delicate balance.

Yeah and when you are getting paid millions to play football you can live in the nicest parts or burbs of Chicago. Professional athletes don't look at things like normal people would. Private school for the kids, nice big mansion in the best part of the city. Off season homes in even nicer places with better weather etc. He would never choose to lose $4M over where he would be playing football. If the #s are close then yes, he probably would stay for a little less here - less taxes too.
-
I think Young is the best QB and has it all. Intelligent, athletic, arm, legs, turns negative plays into positive ones. I think he is very mature and if Alabama didn't have him last year they probably would have had a 4-5 loss season. Stroud is good, but I am not sure he reads the field as well as Young does. Can he get better? Yes, but he's behind Young in that department and I don't know if the instincts Young shows are things Stroud can acquire. It's nice to have options though....unless we do trade with the Texans.

An updated look at our cap, and where we are spending it
Rocky Davis replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
That feeling when Pat Elflein and Ian Thomas are top 10 salaries on your team. -
Corral probably did and does have the best "arm" in the 2022 draft. Which QB do you think has a better arm? Howell probably has the 2nd best out of that QB class, but don't throw Pickett or Purdy up here saying they have a better arm. Both of them are fine game managing QBs, but I would argue Corral and Howell had the best two arms in the draft. Doesn't mean they were the overall best QBs.

Look this guy is making millions of dollars, America Visa and Mastercard should give him an account.

Stumpy feeling froggy calling Tampa Bay a bad team.

It wasn't just Timo they were in on, but they did focus a lot of effort there. It's not like Waddles and Co. don't have the ability to multitask, and if they were just lazy then that's terrible.
-
I still don't know why they didn't get Nino back. The asset cost was well within reason, I just wonder if his $4M/yr didn't fit in the "salary scale" the Canes have and that was the reason. Underwhelming trade acquisitions overall, we like our team. I hope the team likes themselves as much and plays lights out and proves all of us armchair QBs wrong.

I've seen Henderson with great coverage and I've seen him get torched. I was hoping he would pan out, but he isn't consistent enough to be a #2CB and I don't want to pay #2CB money for him. I almost like him better as a safety, but I am not sure how quickly he could pick up the nuances to be a good one.
