I remember sending Boston home last year. The regular season is over....it's about what happens now. Cup or bust for the almighty Bruins. Good luck fugers.
-
Well we somehow ended up playing a "we gotta outscore them" type game tonight...basically playing a terrible 3rd period and we won. Release the hounds Rod. (Still worried our defense has been better than our offense in scoring goals the last 2-3 weeks) If both sides get going offensively it would be welcomed!
-
Neither the Isles or the Panthers are going to be easy outs in the playoffs. The Islanders got better before and at the trade deadline while we are not quite as good (just being honest). Overall we are the better team, but the Isles have the goalies to steal games and added more offense with Horvat. It's go time, let's hope the boys are ready to lay it all on the line and play like it's them against the world because that's what it's going to take.

sorry I thought I read earlier in the thread Ned got pulled...I wasn't able to catch the game! He got pulled for an extra attacker! Still glad he took the L.
-
I think Ghost is who and what we thought he would be for the team. Puljujarvi needs to be told his job is to throw his body around and get to the front of the net and put the recycling in the bin. Keep it physical and simple....
-
After stealing that game a week ago I am glad we got to him and he hit the pine. I liked Ned a lot until he overvalued himself right out of the organization. He should have been able to put Detroit on his back and carry them to the playoffs this year......

Mo is going to want to beat the Canes for sure now. I know most of his ties with the organization are now gone, but he served here as HC twice. Revenge, retribution - whatever you want to call it is always sweet. That, and the fact that the Panthers can avoid the Booins in the first round are really going to make Florida play hard.

New Goalie Acquired, Canes sign Yaniv Perets.

Yeah RBA's son was drafted by the Oilers in 2017 and he becomes a FA this fall. I am sure he has a pretty strong work ethic, but I don't believe a lot of NHL teams will be trying to sign him. He will need a good amount of time in the AHL and projects at best as a 3rd line player. -
It was the D that scored both goals, this team is in a terrible rut offensively. I think RBA has to have a Come to Jesus meeting with the team. FFS losing games like this doesn't set up the playoffs well.

Next Season's Goalies- Who Ya Got?
Rocky Davis replied to Anybodyhome's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Korpisalo is the one I would target, not sure the Kings are going to let him leave town easily though. I like Hill and his youth, but not sure he is one that doesn't benefit from a solid defense in front of him more often than not. We can't roll with Raanta or Andersen as a 1a because they are going to miss long stretches with injuries and Koochie still isn't quite ready. I'd say if Nashville was really in full rebuild mode then I'd go after Saros or even Lankinen, but after trading away a lot of key pieces they are hanging in there for that last WC in the West. I'm not sure they will want to do any trading. Askarov isn't ready for the NHL either. -
Kane never wanted to be here, but the rest of the names you mentioned I am with you. Not acquiring Meier still doesn't bother me quite as much as others because I really think you see him end up back West soon. NJ may pay that one $10M season, but he doesn't sign there as a UFA. Tarasenko, Horvat, hell even Nino....why didn't we get one of them? Just insane.

We did a good thing by renting Ghost, we needed another d-man who could run a power play or make a power play more dangerous in the late going by running him + Burns. We knew going into that trade that it was most likely a rental and at worse you were getting defensive ability equal to Coglan. A knee jerk move was made for Puljujarvi because we didn't have the cajones to go after someone else with more offensive upside. He hasn't brought anything to the team and his fellow Finns aren't making him better. We didn't lose anything really because Puistola hadn't signed with us and there were no guarantee that he was so it's a wash really. The Canes didn't do two things I thought they needed to do: 1.) like everyone here knows we didn't get a scorer or even a scoring threat who would have made this team more dangerous. This was a huge error and we may pay for it more dearly than we thought the way things have played out the last month and 2.) I thought we should have dealt for another goalie. I think Raanta has been better than Andersen this year and Koochie isn't ready. We have maybe had a handful of games the goalie has "stolen" for us this year, but neither Raanta or Andersen with the injuries and the way they have played this year should ever be expected to steal a game here or there when you are in the playoffs. The Bruins, Lightning, Rangers, and a case can be made that the Maple Leafs all have better goaltending than us. That leaves us hanging out with NJ, the Islanders, the Panthers and the Pens as to what kind of goaltending are we going to get tonight. I almost think the Isles and the Panthers have better goalie situations than we do at the moment and at least NJ has offensive firepower to overcome their goalies when they are bad. We haven't been very good, overall, from an offensive perspective all season. We have glimpses here and there of Aho, Svech, or Necas putting on a show for us but then they disappear for long stretches. Our PP is not good and is it really a great thing when your defense is scoring at a higher clip than your offense? Yeah, it would be if our O was just as good or better but they aren't. I said it months ago: either Rod turns the team loose and tries to win 5-4, 4-3 games or he makes this team the second coming of the NJD trap teams from the 90s if we have any shot to raise a Cup. The way we play now isn't going to do it. This is the way.

We don't suck, but we've got issues and they weren't addressed and now we got to play it out...... Preds fighting hard for a playoff spot.

Put the team in Durham. Durham Devils /s

not a good look to lose like that in the last minute. Detroit always plays us tough and isn't a bad team, but my goodness we have been out shooting the entire NHL for years and still score less GPG than half of the teams. There's something to be said about quality over quantity. SMH tonight.....

He's a pest for sure!

Koochie needs more time for sure, to me it's almost like he needs to work on the fundamentals skill wise. We also need our goalie coach(es) at the NHL and AHL levels to even out his temperament. I like he has emotion, but he's a little over the top at the moment. He needs to dial it down a notch and grow up a little more.
-
I thought about going here too, but knowing RBA he doesn't trust Noesen's forechecking as much as he does Jarvis or Turbo who have both played on the 1st line. Not saying it would be a bad move, just trying to think like RBA.
-
Not sure I like Marty on the 1st line. I like Turbo moved to 1st or 2nd and Marty playing with Staal and Puljujarvi. Svech's injury has made it tough to optimally configure the top 3 lines, but that's my opinion. If you put Turbo on the 1st line he probably doesn't shoot enough (he already doesn't, but with Aho and Necas that gets worse). If you move Jarvis up to the 1st line and put Turbo on the second line, Turbo probably (maybe?) will shoot more, but I think that makes the 1st line worse defensively. There's a lot to consider - I like Marty for his energy but he is typically a black hole when it comes to creativity and scoring. Of course when I stated at the beginning of the season I thought Marty shouldn't be in the starting lineup he performed well so hopefully he gets this memo.

This reminded me of a Bill Peter's coached game..... Hell at least we'd score one goal in Mueller's system.

well do expand on the incident. -
Kuechly will always be my #1 LB in Panthers history and it will take a lot to knock him outta that spot. Love Sam Mills and Thomas Davis too, but Kuech was crazy special. I wish we had him on the staff in some shape or form and also some young LBer that would soak up every bit of what he could from Luke.

Heard it wasn't a complete tear and no other damage to the knee. The ACL was just partially torn and would have completely torn if he tried to go on it. It's one of the reasons he was able to have surgery so soon! Hope he makes a quick, strong recovery taking the time he needs. -
Flair will do ANYTHING for Money! He doesn't care about what team is bringing him in - he wants that $$$$.
