  1. Glad the Devils and Panthers took out the garbage. It's going to be a tough series against NJ, they are fast. We can only hope the defense tamps down and we stay aware on the ice so they don't get so many odd man rushes, the Rags got opened up like a can of peaches last night. Hopefully Andersen and Raanta play as well as they did in the first round as well. Let's see if we can go one round further this year, but with the injuries I have realistic expectations.
  2. and to acknowledge the fact that the Bruins indeed did not take care of Florida.
  3. Winning in the 1st round was pretty solid with all our injuries. It will only get tougher from here on out. Gotta find the offense from our offense and have Andersen and Raanta to continue to play as well as they have. Goalies have been much better than I thought they would be. Both Statsny and Stepan are getting long in the tooth, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they retired. I think we'll have guys like MackEachern (he's a UFA), Drury, Rees, Koivunen, and Ponomarev battling for forward positions. Can we sign Staal and Fast back for reasonable contracts? I think so. On Defense, De Haan and Ghost are UFAs. Don't know if we even try to sign Ghost because we'll need that money in the coming years. Lajoie or Seeley's time?
  4. Hey don't forget Dalpe, Gustav Forsling, and Eetu Luostarinen all former Canes in some fashion or another.
  5. Hmmmm.... someone said that Boston was going to take care of Florida easily and I said "not so fast my friend." @glenwo2 I have great respect for Maurice, he's been coaching in the NHL forever for a reason. He had the Panthers ready and they took it to the Booins. So glad they are going home, happy golfing fuggers.
  6. All the way to Seattle's or another team's Practice Squad, the USFL, or the XFL (if it exists after this season). Nice story, not NFL players.
  7. Sorokin had that squared up pretty well, puck went in just the right place to deflect in off his lower right pad. Stastny lasered that puck, he didn't have much of a choice TBH as the Isles already had 3 men back on defense. Puck luck finally came on home for the Canes!!
  8. The more I watch some videos (not going to call it tape) of Johnson, the more I think he may start out as an OLB. He has the speed and strength to cover both inside and outside zone runs, plus after playing TE he should be able to cover TEs pretty well (and he did in college, but NFL TEs are a different story). I think if he lines up as a DE next year he will be standing (a la Burns and Reddick) and not using a 3-pt stance (like in the previous video) They used him in stunts a lot last year at Oregon and I can see Evero wanting to do the same with the OLB coming down to cover any outside zone runs/screens. He also needs to use his leverage better when he engages a tackle, seen him rush too straight up to ever get around a tackle/guard he is engaged with...they call it "getting stood up" for a reason.
  9. I understand not liking Tkachuk, but man do I want the Panthers to send the Booins to the golf course on Sunday. It would be the greatest thing to see ESPN's record setting darlings go down in the 1st round. I am tired of hearing about them...... Same for the Rags, send em home to play some golf tomorrow.
  10. Look, fawk Boston and their lame azz team and fans. I want Florida to beat them. I can't stand the Booins. @glenwo2 I told you Florida wouldn't be an easy out.....Maurice has been coaching in the NHL for a long time, he wears out his welcome with his style of play eventually, but he makes adjustments and knows how to put his team in the best position to win.
  11. This team is surprising at the moment. I mean we are playing AHL players to replace Svech, Patches, and Turbo and they are doing a nice job. I hope these guys play hard and the rest of the team understands how hungry they should be all the time. We are down a lot of talent, but the guys are playing hard. The next round is going to be even tougher! They are going to have to play their best and not have any letdowns against either the Devils or the Rags. I would probably watch some tape of Schmid for the Devils, he sort of unknown and seems to have the Rags confused about how and where they should attack him.
  12. Warm Winner's Pie, love to see it!! #LetsGoCanes
  13. I watched quite a few Oregon games over the past couple of years because a coworkers son plays for the Ducks (not a starter, but maybe this season). I saw Johnson play TE in 2020 and 2021. He didn't play many games, but when he did play he was really utilized as another blocker and he road graded defensive players. He also had a couple of games where he was used in the red zone and showed his speed, good hands, and decent route running. I think he had 4 or 5 TDs. Last year he played LB and his speed and strength showed up even though he didn't put up huge sack numbers. It's sort of like Burns and Reddick....I think he'll develop into an outside rusher who can really pressure the QB fast. I hope he doesn't over pursue like Burns does at times. I think the Panthers are trying to recreate what they had with Burns and Reddick. Also, I think Johnson played for two different coaches and staff and showed versatility and a willingness to do what was best for the team. I am sure Evero had a hand in this pick, this isn't just a random pick. The Panthers staff see something they like about him and I'll trust Evero, Fitt, and Morgan on this. The guy is kind of freakish - he got to Bennett when they played Georgia and had him on the run and stepping up in the pocket a lot. Also saw him drop back in coverage and cover TEs. Give him a chance, that's all you can do.
  14. Thank sweet baby Jesus. Veteran getting it done!!
  15. Agreed, Hall's arms and fingers are too short.
  16. Do we trade 2 picks to move up (if we can) or do we stay at 39? I don't see a team drafting ahead of us wanting to trade down, maybe LA but that's about it. At that point I don't think it is worth it.
  17. Rags played very physical with the Devils and that's not what NJ wants. They don't really have the type of "heavy" team needed to play like that....we all know this about Dougie especially. He played just like he played for us in the playoffs tonight. He doesn't like physicality. The Devils better pressure the Rags PP or they are going to be in a world of hurt the rest of the series. I wish them luck, but classic Rags playoff roughness was in effect tonight.
  18. WTF is Chip and Gang? Post of the night, get Chip and the Gang for the next broadcast too.....
  19. Wild win - Hartman. Wild/Stars series is going to be tight. Also, Edmonton thought they had the OT winner but former Cane Derek Ryan high sticked the puck in. Both he and Foegele were providing net front for the Oilers....should have had them do it more here!
  20. Just giving our resident Devils fan a hard time, I rather see the Devils beat the Rags than Trouba and Co. moving on. Fug the Rags.
  21. Did you notice the winky emoji at the end of my post?
  22. I don't think the Panthers beat the Bruins in a 7 game series, but it won't be as easy as everyone thinks. The same goes for the Canes against the Isles and your Devils against the Rags. We all know Toronto against the Lightning is going to be crazy. Is there a Devils forum you can go spew some of your bullshit on?
