  1. Well, all I can say: it’s time to stop giving Sam and Baker equal reps at this point. Mayfield has acquitted himself nicely so far, in short order, time to move forward and let Sam and Corral start splitting those backup reps up. I get it, competition, now, let’s start getting down to business. I gave Sam a really good look too. There’s just not anything jumping out as significantly better. Going to be interesting to see how it looks on Friday and Saturday.
  2. It’s a minefield of Paul Blarts checking people for cell phones, so I just pretty much gave up on filming anything, and started doodling lol. Honestly, I’m learning more from these practices by just putting the goddamn phone down for periods of time. Turbo tweeting through each rep is just unsustainable for me.
  3. It’s almost as if they actually signed a couple of rock solid starting caliber players to start on the interior. I know they’re doing a lot of tinkering at left tackle, but nothing comes close to the mess I saw unfolding at camp last year
  4. the moment I realized I’m the 2nd best Ellis covering the team (he’s probably one of my best friends in the biz—awesome writer, funny dude)
  5. As much as I’d love to take credit, that’s the work of my friend Ellis Williams.
  6. I’m case you’re interested: Ellis Williams joined us on Fox Sports Upstate today. Great insight. Starts around the 51:00 mark.
  7. What’s up everybody. Hope y’all have had a great summer. Billy is on vacation this week, but I’ll be putting out a new podcast each day chronicling that morning’s practice session. Today was fairly general in scope (I was only on site for an hour), but hopefully you can gain some insight from this episode. More episodes throughout the week. It’s been an interesting group to watch so far.
  8. 6 has nothing to do with a Panthers, I’ve just never found it to be a great number for a quarterback. Vinny (a guy I liked, all things considered) was 16. Again, none of these are dealbreakers, I’m just enjoying being a part of this chat lol.
  9. Yeah, I guess. I like 13, but I know a lot of people have superstitions about that number. Jimmy and Chris didn’t do much for their respective numbers, that’s for sure. 19 is just a crappy quarterback number. Unitas was a goat but other than that, it’s just a bad aesthetic.
  10. Numbers I irrationally don’t like for QB’s: 2, 6, 15, 16, 19. Frank Reich saves 14 from my sh*tlist. Again, highly relevant, impactful peak-July 11 content from me here.
  11. I’ve given credit a couple of times from people who post funny stuff here. I’ve seen a few people talk about it, and it crossed my mind last night, but props to Ivan. Looks like he was on this first.
  12. What’s up guys. Hope y’all are having a great summer. Billy and I took a few weeks off, but we’re back and running for the ramp up to training camp. Josh Klein stopped by this week as we sized up the Baker Mayfield trade. Enjoy! Camp opens in 18 days.
  13. For what it’s worth, the Browns are in no hurry, nor should they be, do much of anything with Mayfield. Doubt they end up cutting him. Doesn’t sound like a robust market, but it does appear Carolina’s interest is legit, and has been for a while. Hopefully, they don’t outbid themselves for a QB for the third consecutive offseason.
  14. Generally, I agree with that. I don’t truly think it’s going to work out that way, just throwing out some potential scenarios, if indeed Carolina wants to try to move him off the roster without eating his (entire) salary.
  15. For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s likely Sam gets traded anywhere, but I do think they have some degree of interest in finding a way to unload his cap hit, or at least a portion of it. I also think it’s a decent idea to just move ahead with Darnold, Corral, and stay true to the “patience” mantra. But, if they want to acquire Baker, while unloading Sam, there’s some complexity to that, and I’m not certain it’s all worth it—just from my view.
  16. Yea, if the contact is reasonable, he can give the team value. Not a bad run defender, either. Stout (6-5+, 280-ish) Hate we missed ya in Pville! We’ll be back on the road in July. Will let u know.
  17. It’s not those things, I can tell you that.
  18. Anyway, hope y’all have a fine day. Enjoy the big announcement.
  19. It has nothing to do with player personnel, Coaching, front office. Just get your headspace out of that area code, and it’s going to save you some grief later.
  20. I don’t know, I would just feel comfortable leaving the house for a few hours, and getting some fresh air. The news will be there when you get back. It’s not that type of announcement. And I’m not slighting anyone involved.
  21. I’m just ready for the announcement, because I’m not sure I’ve seen one person guess it correctly yet. Josh said it best in his tweet above.
