How Many Games Before Dalton Loses a Start?
thennek replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Is the question when will the Panthers lose again with Dalton starting? Or is the question, when will the Panthers not start Dalton? -
Adam was limping after the game so that was concerning. Lewis was replaced by Zavala but hopefully it was precautionary. Have not heard any updates as to the extent of their injuries.

Who is number 75 on the Panthers defense -
Evero…yes. The mess before Evero…probably not.

Micah Parsons or Horn…. After Luke retired Parsons would have been a natural pick but we had Rhule and Tepper making decisions.

Frank Reich was right / Frank Reich was wrong

And they would still have DJ Moore, a 2023 first round pick, and all the other picks gone due to the trade. -
Frank Reich was right / Frank Reich was wrong

Option one: Reich was right. BY was not his guy and don’t think he knew what to do with him. Thomas Brown was not his pick and obviously they did not agree. Tabor and Campen were not his picks either and they were part of the Hunger Games rumors. Reich was a coach being told what to do. When he wanted to put BY in timeout so he could learn, he was told no and fired along with Josh McCown and Staley. It was a hopeless situation. The 2023 Panthers were a terrible team and having Dalton play would have made them better but they would have still been bad. -
If Tepper continues to influence Football decisions……never.
-
I sure hope this is what happened. This would be a positive sign that Tepper is letting Football people make decisions. It does make sense as we know Reich wanted to bench Young and was not allowed to and was fired shortly after. So if Canales wanted to and Tepper gave the “okay” that is a good thing.

If I recall correctly, footwork was something that came up last year under Reich. I am going by memory, but I think it was along the lines of 'we plan to address this in the offseason'. Reich was fired not long after. Does BY have bad footwork due to him over-compensating for his size? He definitely has happy feet as he clearly is not comfortable in the pocket. Canales seems like a very positive coach, it would hard to believe he is the reason BY is worse but I supposed if BY always had bad footwork, he may not have felt comfortable changing it. And if Canales really was working on footwork, it did not improve....at all. I do think Canales should have played him in pre-season and that was a big miss. I think there is a lot more to this story than we know.

I agree with this as well. Just seems like how it was presented opened up the negative firestorm. When questioned Canales had no other direction other than 'Andy gives us the best chance to win'. I think it could have been handled differently. It is all on how you word it.

The decision to put BY in timeout is the right one for a number of reasons already discussed. I actually think it is best for the team, but also the best for BY. However, it seems like it has become a very negative distraction for the Panthers. You cannot listen to any sports show without the pontificators giving their opinions on how the Panthers are a terrible team and all the negative stuff around the decision. This absolutely cannot be helping the team. My question is this: Why didn't Canales just announce that BY woke up with some soreness in his shoulder and we feel it is best to sit him this week against the Raiders? It would have avoided all of this negative PR and allowed the team to focus on the Raiders. Reich pretty much did this last year against Seattle with the phantom ankle injury. This would have taken the national spotlight off this and the media firestorm. The Panthers go into LV with Andy and if he plays well, then you just stay with the 'hot-hand'. Why make such a big 'announcement' that we are 'benching BY'?

The Bryce situation reminds me of Josh Rosen (national media)

To avoid all of this negative publicity, I wonder why the Panthers just didn’t make a phantom injury for Bryce. Easier to have him miss upcoming games due to injury versus how they approached it by benching him. -
I don’t understand the the hate on Tepper for Bryce getting benched
thennek replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pretty sure Reich, Josh McCown, and Deuce Staley were fired by Tepper because they wanted to bench Bryce last year. -
Or Russell Wilson.....the Seattle connection for Fittererer

Bryce got benched, but the problem is still the problem
thennek replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
The mess in Carolina will never be fixed as long as Tepper meddles and is involved in daily football decisions. If he lets the football experts make the decisions and coach the team, then there could be hope. -
Is John Wohlford still on the PS? He was another QB with some Canales ties
-
Tannehill is another.

Dammit CJ Stroud looks good again so far tonight.......
thennek replied to Ricky Prickles's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Canales lasts this year. Those Tepper Monday meetings will be brutal. -
I then got yelled out every Monday by Tepper because he could not fix Bryce and win.
