Another point to this story is that it shows Tepper as a decision maker to extend CMC. I get the feeling Tepper is an “involved owner” on football decisions. This is rarely a good thing and could be why this team has only won 22 games in nearly 4 seasons since he has been the owner. 2018: 7-9 2019: 5-11 2020: 5-11 2021: 5-7

CMC was a great pick. Unfortunately the Panthers gave him a new contract that was preemptive and they grossly overpaid. If I recall correctly, CMC had at least 1-more year on the original rookie deal. His body breaking down with injuries should have happened on the last year of his rookie contract….then the Panthers would not be in this situation.

Rhule is worse than Seifert. At least Seifert had success in the NFL prior to the Panthers and was a Super Bowl winning coach. Plus he did gift us Morgan, Jenkins and #89.

Another typical Q3 for the Panthers -
If we don't comeback and win, Brady has to be gone tomorrow

Not a Brady fan and never thought he was ready to be an NFL OC. What confuses me is in 2020 under his offense Teddy, DJ, Robbie, and Curtis all had career years. The Panthers immediately dumped Teddy. So what is the difference in 2021 vs 202? Why is this offense so bad? Why did the Panthers WR all have career years in 2020? Teddy is not that good so why is it so much worse this year? Just my guess- NFL DC figured out the offense and Brady was not able to adjust. But I am not sure this is the reason…. -
Don’t know if true but rumors are that Hurney wanted to trade up for Justin Herbert but we held at #9 and got Mr Brown. If true, Hurney would have been right….

Washington should have traded him to Denver so he could be with Teddy B.

I don’t believe I have seen the lineup now that Irving and Paradis are out. Who plays center and left tackle? Assuming Jordan is LG, Trent Scott is RG and of course Moton RT.

That was a very enjoyable press conference. Cam is a very interesting and confident man. I think the experience in New England and etc made him better. I have gone from wondering if I would watch the game on Sunday to now I can’t wait to see it. You know he is going to play somehow on Sunday…even if for a few plays.

I don’t know for sure but the Panthers made a hot mess of the QB situation the past few years. It has come full circle now. Dumped Cam with a year left on his contract to sign Teddy with incompetent Grier, and PJ. Then wasted cap space to dump Teddy. And then wasted draft picks for Sam. You can’t make this up. Terrible mgmt of the most important position on a NFL team. I still think Rhule is on the hot seat.

Do you think Tepper will fire himself?

The Panthers put themselves in a situation where they can’t build through the draft. At least not the next draft because they gave away a high 2nd on Sam and a high 3rd on a CB that apparently does not have his head on straight. The result is they are going to have to build via free agency. This means they will be forced to over pay. I can’t believe this team is actually worse than last year. If I am Tepper, I shut this thing down now and start over with experienced NFL coaches. Rhule = Chip Kelly

He kept Sam in because PJ is worse which is hard to believe.
-
I don’t think we want the current regime to pick the next QB. They choose TB and Sam to be the starters with no competition, and PJ to be the backup. At the very least, they should have kept TB and had Sam compete for the starting position this year. I don’t think this is hindsight…/I think most most questioned these moves prior to the season

Maybe they will throw in Lawrence too …if we ask nicely.

Can we trade CJ Henderson back to the Jags and get our 3rd rounder and Norwell back?

Sam Darnold will be Jimmy Clausen 2.0

Ugh- why did you have to remind me of this. -
Yeah Seifert fell apart quickly here and then retired. I guess he just had enough. But at least he had an outstanding resume with a Super Bowl. This coaching crew doesn’t even really have great college results. Tepper badly mishandled this as well.

I personally preferred Navarro as the new owner. The QB situation went from bad to even worse when Rhule started to now. He appears to be on his way to being a very short term NFL coach.
-
So why did Sam look semi-adequate in the first 3 games but then turned into the Jets Sam the past 4-games? What changed other than CMC being out and that can’t be all of it. Very similar to Teddy last year. The first 4-5 games he actually looked pretty good but as the season progressed he significantly regressed. Makes me wonder if it is the Panthers offense…ie Brady. Is the offense too predictable? Clearly Sam nor Teddy are/were not the QB answer but i don’t think it is all on them.
-
Good summary. Bottom line is Rhule is not getting it done. He is one of the highest paid NFL coaches and his staff and players selected by his staff are not producing. Tepper does not strike me as a nice and patient man.

Is Sam our worst QB or does Pickles still reign?

Randy Fasani….LOL- we are talking about the worst QB during a game. Shows how bad the game is. -

Teddy was not the answer either but I do think the offense was better with him than Sam
