I still feel like there’s more going on behind-the-scenes that we do not know. These coaches have had success in the NFL. We can argue if Frank is the right head coach or not, but he is not a complete imbecile, and clearly has had success coaching in the NFL. This offense is terrible but I do not think it is because these coaches are stupid or inept.

Frank probably needs to check with the Teppers before making any QB changes.

The boss at practice today with eyes on the OL

The Panthers are a hobby for the Teppers. They must believe they have to be involved in order to fix the problem. They clearly do not understand that they are the problem and why the Panthers have the worst record in the NFL since they became owners. -
Tepper was also very involved in pursuing Stafford….
-
Perhaps Frank is protecting Brown by doing this.
-
The problem is there is much more than just a coaching problem with the Panthers. Hiring a new coach is not going to fix this mess.
-
Yeah but he is a 4th round pick though…..
-
It depends on who Nicole Tepper wants to hire. The Panthers are a hobby to the Teppers.
-
LOL- Superprocessor. I want to believe he is the answer but I have a lot doubt. I was always concerned about his size even before he was the Panthers pick.
-
That is definitely possible and if true no coaching or GM change will matter.
-
I hear you but I will take a different approach. We need to sit him to find out if the rest of the offense has anything to keep. As an example- All of us thought the O-Line was legit going into this season. Now- they look terrible. Is it Young making them look bad? I would like to see Dalton play just to see how the line looks.

Definitely have a scouting issue. When did this start….around 2018. That is when Tepper bought the team. The question is why? Why did the Panthers lose people when Tepper came here and why can’t the Panthers replace them with good people?
-
It makes me sad to think about that. I legit believe CMC could be a HOF guy…he is that good. The Panthers traded him for day two picks and replaced him with unforgettable names….except Young.
-
The Panthers would be significantly better off right now to have signed Carr and kept DJ Moore along with the draft picks they gave up to pick Young. There are too many holes on this team to develop a rookie QB. The Panthers have been giving away so many picks the last few years they have no depth and few quality starters. I do not if it was Rhule, Fitt, Tepper or a combination of all of them but this team has been terrible.
-
I would rather have DJ Moore back. What a stupid trade. Trade the best WR since 89 and then realize the offense has no playmakers then proceed to trade away more picks to replace him.

Canty low-key just battered Bryce on Greeny

I am one that believes Tepper is a meddling owner so not hard to connect the dots that he had his hands all over this pick. I did not like the trade up…I thought they should stay at 9 and pick the best player as this team has so many holes. -

If this is true, then why was young the pick? -
Which is why you wonder if they figured out after they drafted him that they could do what they originally had planned to run….and then it was too late. Young clearly is it comfortable but I am having doubts that he looks good in any NFL offense. He is a unicorn…some compare his size to Wilson and Brees but that is not accurate as both were bigger. I was not on board with drafting him but figured the experts knew more than me. They clearly were not ready to build an offense around him.
-
I still wonder how much of the offensive stinkage is due to them trying to figure out how to use an undersized, below average arm strength QB. For all of the pre-draft expert takes on Young, I am not seeing it at all. I watched some of the Jets game Monday and their offense led by Wilson looks very similar to the Panthers. I still think if Dalton plays we would see a significant improvement in how the offense runs. Of course Dalton is not the answer but he clearly is better than Young. If the Panthers wanna win, they should be playing Dalton.

Evidence of Tepper meddling in football operations?
thennek replied to TeppersEgos's topic in Carolina Panthers
1. It was reported Tepper wanted a 3-4 defense and 'suggested' that Rivera run this during his last year. 2. It was reported Tepper was very involved in the Stafford trade talks and ultimately made the decision to not pursue due to a medical concern 3. It was reported Tepper was very involved in the Watson trade talks and ultimately was the one who pulled away due to the money/contract concerns 4. Tepper and wife attending the combine with the QB's and was involved in this process 5. Reich said Tepper was a very involved owner and met with him often/weekly. 6. It was reported many times that Tepper was pushing for a 'franchise QB' (as if his football did not think this was needed and they needed to be pushed?). However, the biggest evidence we have are the results. Since 2018 this team has looked terrible and has the worst record in the NFL. This cannot be a coincidence. -
As long as Tepper is still actively involved and influencing decisions it does not matter what changes they make. In the 5-years he has been owner the Panthers have been in disarray. Each head coach has looked inept, and every offensive coach has looked terrible. Since Tepper owned The Panthers, the offense struggled with Rivera, Rhule and now Reich. It looked presentable with a ground and pound power run game but that is not sustainable in today’s NFL. it cannot be a coincidence that this team has been terrible no matter who the coach is, or who the offensive coordinator is, or who the QB is. The one consistent since 2018 has been the owner who appears to be more involved than he should. He needs to be a silent owner…..and let the football people coach and make decisions if he really wants to win.

I hope you are right but Brees was slightly taller, heavier and had a bigger frame. By initial looks, Brees also had more zip in the ball too. I think the biggest issue most have is what the Panthers gave up to get Young. If he was a second round pick like Brees I do not think you would be seeing the same negative emotions. I also think if the Panthers stayed at 9 and picked Young most would not be as negative.

Seems like today put an exclamation point on it...

Serious answer: Historically the Panthers have tried to build a team through the draft. Since Tepper has been here, that has not worked very well. now that they are in this situation by giving away so much to draft Young, the only way to build this team is free agency. The good news is I do believe they have a decent amount of cap space to try and build a team since they will not have too many draft picks. Hopefully they can bring in another quarterback to compete with young and Dalton. More offensive lineman and some legit WR’s. It is not going to be easy, but it is possible. But Tepper and his wife need to stay out of the decisions.
