  1. Joscott and I did a heavy back workout Saturday and a heavy chest workout yesterday and I'm quite sore today. Planning on hitting legs today and taking tomorrow off.
  2. Say it one mo' gotdamn time motherfuger.
  3. lol There's pics of most of us in this thread floating around here... I know Floppin posted recently... I have some in the "show your face"thread... I have not seen the bulked up version of Jase however.
  4. That is, without question, the nastiest pic in this thread in some time.
  5. wtf is that? About a month ago mine was doing that... then it was my tricep for a while... weird.
  6. lol Only the Kraken could pull that off.
  7. I imagine SCP goes thru about 2 of these a year.
  8. It took me about three times longer than it should have to figure out it was a TMNT shirt.
  9. I've been on C4 prior to my vacation this week but before that I was on Friction... I liked it a lot. 1.M.R. tastes like vomit... I could hardly choke it down, but it works too.
  10. Yeah, we discussed it, but we wanted to visit Grandfather Mountain anyway and thought the trail sounded fun. My oldest had no issues at all... much farther and my youngest probably would have had trouble. imo it was hard, but moreso it was much more dangerous than I thought it would be. There are some places that you could really get hurt... now this is coming from a flat lander so... but up there around those ladders is crazy to me. I was tired from it, my wife tracked it with her phone and we did 2.6 miles in 1.5 hours and it was a 1500' elevation change. More than anything though those rocks are tough on my knees and feet, I can tell I'm gonna be sore tomorrow. Here's some pics of the trip... Today's Hiking: This is my favorite of the day, me and my youngest sitting on an overlook... Went to Hawk's Nest and did some zip lines yesterday, that was a LOT of fun... Horseback riding tomorrow and probably another local trail in the afternoon...
  11. We started to, but didn't know if the kids could handle it. I think they could have though... The Grandfather was a lot of fun.
  12. Could be you just rubbed something wrong? Doesn't that happen a lot with you? We hiked the Grandfather Trail today at G'father Mnt. That trail ain't no joke. I'm give out.
  13. Never heard that one Jase, but last time I got a little sunburned bench wasn't fun.
  14. Lookin' fit flop... Hit chest with Joscott just now... I'm whipped... that boy has been putting in work at the gym and it shows.
  15. This guy posts in the tinderbox, I'm sure of it.
  16. OK, now that I'm at an actual keyboard AND have finished all the books... my thoughts.... (this might be kind of random) The good: Martin is one of the best writers I've read. His words just flow and as you're reading it's really easy to get caught up in the story. The books are really hard to put down. I started reading the 3rd week of May and just finished ADwD last night, so that's a testament to the quality of his writing imo. His characters: The development of the characters and how real they feel is outstanding, particularly in light of how many there are. Holy poo there's a lot of characters. Visualizations: It's unbelievable how much detail is in the books as to the scenery, the characters, the castles, even the damn food they're eating. I take it the man loves some food as much as he delves into descriptions of what they're eating. I love the fact that the books are so unadulterated and "raw"... nothing is held back... sex, language, gore, the reality of life in what would amount to our middle ages... it's fantastic. The not so good: Characters: This is a double edged sword... he does do a good job of defining them, but damn... there's too many in reality. Very hard to keep track. Pacing: It's irritating to me to have him go chapters and chapters, even books in some cases and not mention a character and then BAM, he's talking about this person like it was just the last chapter... it doesn't happen all that often, but when it does it's tough to read. Disappearing characters: Beric Dondarrion is a great character... he's in and out of the story and finally just disappears. He wasn't mentioned in the last two books at all IIRC. Rickon: Where the fug is that kid? Samwell: In AFfC, we get more of Samwell than we can take just about... then in ADwD, he's nowhere to be found. This kind of goes to the too many characters deal... The only other real gripe I have is his tendency to repeat things as if he doesn't think you're keeping up. There was a whole section at the end of ADwD where Dany is walking thru the Dothraki Sea and he goes for several pages recalling all the stuff that's happened to her... it's not that it's bad, it's just kind of patronizing imo. So anyway... speculation: As I said, I don't think Jon is dead dead... he may die, but he will come back. I think. He's too integral to the story imo. As far as the whole "song of ice and fire" thing, I think it's pretty literal... Ice being the Jon's wall and fire being Dany's Dragons, Ice being the others/white walkers and fire being R'hllor. I hadn't really given much thought to the whole Tyrion being a Targaryen scenario, I guess that's a possibility... intriguing. I'm sure I'll have more later.... great thread btw.
  17. Sorry for all the old pie but I FINALLY finished ADwD and could read this thread. More tomorrow but Jon isn't dead. If the red priest could bring back Dondarrion seven times why can't Melisandre bring Jon back?
