mitchell was poo when he came here and nobody thought he was any good. Mikell was on the downside of his career. And I guess you forgot us bringing in Drayton Florence, who was also a big part of our defense that year, and he was mediocre to bad his entire career. Harper was a pro-bowl saftey, so was Decoud. i don't know how you can say they were 'picked on thier entire career" when both of them had shown promise at some point in their career, more than Mithcell had shown beofore, or after he came here. Oher had two good seasons with the Ravens, and one okay one (the Superbowl run for the Ravens.), he's played hurt the past few seasons, and now he's back with the o-line coach whom he had his best two seasons under. Coleman, a guy we're in no shape or form bringing in to be a starter, played well for the Cheifs as a rotational guy, and had a really good season. At worst, he's a special team enforcer, something we needed BADLY last season. You forget the Eagles game? This is a need too. You're reaching bro. EDIT: Forgot to mention Guys like Cason and Dickson, who also were both mediocre to bad before coming here. same for Avant and Cotch.esecially at this point in their careers. and other failed projects like Tiquan Underwood, who the onl reason we knew his name is because he burnt us before in the previous season. This is not any different from years previous

*signs at worst a rotational cover saftey and a special Teamer* THIS GUY SUCKS GETTLEMAN DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO BUILD A TEAM WHY DIDN'T WE SIGN SHORTS.

man i think our defense did fine without greg hardy the latter half of the season but man what do I know
-
Robert Lester one of the best DB in the League next year?
Rags replied to Bj-Monster23's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well we can replace an old, slow saftey who often gets burned with a young, slow saftey who often gets burned. Hope for the best tho -
Arguing with KKL is like going to the aquarium and ignoring the "Don't tap the glass" signs. You know it's wrong but golly gee is it fun to see those fish get worked up over something so minor.

Saw that coming. Hapy Trails, Greg.

I don't think that's likely. We've shown the willingness to bring in and talk to other players, but if they ask for too much then we'll quickly turn them down. It's unlikely that we'll bring anyone extremely big nma,e but someone like a Cecil Shorts isn't a far fetched idea. If not, we'll just look to the draft.
-
No, i explained why he's a solid signing to bring back at least for training camp. I never said he couldn't be upgraded, but I don't exactly understand why he's so abysmal that he can't at least be bought back to training camp.
-
Nobody's saying we should improve the roster. But all we're saying is there's no reason to go out the first few days and burn $$$ on the first few days of Free Agency. Let the market cool off first.
-
Nobody's. Saying. Bersin's. Cemented. On the roster. All people are saying is "Hey why are you criticizing our GM for At Least bringing him in to Training camp when it literally affects nothing about how we'r going to handle the FA/Draft"
-
Nobody here is saying Brenton Bersn is the future. Nobody here is saying he's even great. But you guys are mad for retaining one of our guys when all it means is he's goign to be going to TC.

Based off of what? What did he do that showed that he doesn't have the talent to play on an NFL team. He made some particularly reliable catches for us last season. There's no reason not to keep him unless he regresses. He's done a lot more than Edwards has ever done for us. But i mean if you're 100% sure he wouldn't be on any other layoff team please, tell me how and why hes worse than other 4th string WRs on other playoff teams. I can name one 4th string WR who's probably better than him yet this is the same guy you guys are bitching and moaning about us bringing in for a visit.
-
Pumping him up to what? Be a guy who's a solid Third or Fourth WR? This isn't like years past where we thought Kenny Moore would be the Next Great Thing across from steve smith based off of similar production. We're saying "Hey this is a guy who knows what we do fits in our system and is cheap." Why are you guys so against that
-
You say he's trash but...what has he done that's made he trash? He was a solid 4th-5th string WR. If it's not Bersin, we're going to sign some other No Name WR to be jsut that. A Solid 4th-5th string WR. Why not just bring back one of your own guys to do that? You also neglected to answer my question which shows you just want to bitch and moan for the sake of bitching and moaning. You want instant results and when they don't happen you're goign to cry about how our GM is sabotaging the team.

I've said this bdeore in another thread but uh - Your franchise QB was playing hurt most of the season. - Your oline din't have any real set pieces and gelled until the last 5 weeks. Same for your DBs. - One of your starting pass rushers was playing hurt most of the season, the other was suspended for all but one game - Your starting HB was hurt and didn't get healthy until late, and even before that he was running behind aforementioned terrible O-line. We have weaknesses, yes, and we're going to adress them. You seem to think that Gettleman is ignoring them for funsies because he's not breaking the bank on these top flight WRs and is waiting for the market to cool down a bit...you know...like Most GMs Do.
-
Probably yeah. He can block, run routes and he's made tough catches, not to mention he can help onspecial teams. Not to mention he's improved a lot both years he's shown up to training camp. There's no reason to think he can't get better. He's easily better than some other players with had here that the Huddle loved. Namely Seryi Aroujitutu and Legatron. People loved those signings and they're complete trash. You do know that teams are made out of more than just superstars right? You need role players. But here's my question for you: Why would you not sign a player to at least be a camp body if he's shown promise each of his two years there, knows the system, and produced okay when called upon?
-
Also i didn't know all the FA WRs were gone. Last I checked players like Cecil Shorts, Hakeem Nicks, Kenny Britt, and Denarius Moore (lol this guy is trash but you guys think he'll be a #2) are still all available. But I'm sure Dave's not trying poo.
-
Yeah why would they bring back a 4th-5th string WR who knows the system and made some clutch catches for us last year Dave Obviously Knows Nothing
-
please tell me other 5-6th string WRs and why they are so elite and yet you guys find Every Reason to bitch and moan about Bersin and Boykin
-
What do you mean not tying up our cap in one or two big name palyers won't help us win the super bowl I mean look at the Bucs

Time for the defense of the ages!!!

"You can't coach 6-5, 240." - Dave Gettleman So let's start with the elephant in the room; DGB's character. He's had multiple run-ins and issues since leaving high school, such as Possession of Weed (2012, 2014) and breaking into his ex-girlfriends house, and although he wasn't arrested. Led to his dismissal from Mizzou. It's easy to see why we would dismiss as someone we'd never draft, especially with Gettleman's equally quotable "Who wants a ticking time bomb?" line, but if you look at what Gettleman likes, and our team needs, and how the league seems to be trending towards bigger, athletic WRs, Green-Beckham at 25 seems increasingly likely. OU's proday just passed, and DGB put on a show. Measuring it at 6'5 and weighing in at 237, he's not too far off from last years pick, Kelvin Benjamin in terms of measurables, but that's where the comparisons end. . Green-Beckham is a natural fluid athlete at WR. Soft hands, good strength, attacks the ball and can catch anything in a certain radius of him. He's also quite speedy and agile for a WR his size, and has ability to be a down-field threat and the ability to get YAC. He was born to be a Wide Receiver, and he has all the tools and skills to be an Elite #1. As I mentioned earlier, bigger bodied, physical WRs are the trend now. Ever since Jeffery/Marshall dominaited the leauge a couple of years back, teams have looked to mimic that (Example: The Bucs), much akin to how a lot of teams tried to copy the two TE sets that NE ran and was unstoppable for a while. Kelvin and Dorial would compliment each other nicely, both towering over most DBs and the ability to make strong, possessive catches that would frustrate OCs. Toss in the fact we have a third reliable big body target in Olsen. Can you imagine three 6'5 receivers? Now there's still a few things to touch on. DGB is no doubt trending up. Will he even be there or will some team chance him before 25? How has he interviews with teams and has he really changed? Or is he still a "Ticking time bomb." You look at a player who was in a much similar situation to DGB in Dez Bryant. Who was suspended for most of the OSU Cowboy's season, blasted with character concerns, and fell all the way to 24, despite having top 5 talent. And needless to say it's worked out for the Cowboys since then, with some minor backfires involving Bryant's attitude, but, despite being very much a risk, he's turned out to be one of the best WRs in the nfl. On the other side of the coin, there's players like Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon, and despite Blackmon not being as obvious as a time bomb as Gordon, both of them have hurt their teams more than helped them with constant suspensions and substance abuse, despite having the talent to be elite WRs. Blackmon was a top 5 pick, and Gordon cost the Browns a 2nd rounder in the supplemental draft. The above one is more concerning for DGB than one would expect. As mentioned, he was arrested for possession of Marijuana twice. And both times it was a large amount. I don't want to low this out of proportion, especially since I have zero problem with recreational weed use, but some players don't know control. What happens if he gets paid and he goes down the Gordon/Blackmon route? But it comes down to talent, and maturity. Prrsonally, I think a lot of his "concerns" are immature, childish mistakes, and he'll grow from them. And as the for the former, DGB has that in spades.

Cam was hurt 80% of the season. We didn't have a consistent o-line that built chemistry til late in the season. Our #2 corner back at the end of the season missed 8 games. Our best pass rusher played hurt a lot of the season, and te other pass rusher missed all but 1 game. We didn't start our #1 CB and our FS til last 5 games. But I mean it's okay let's pretend it was just say it's because we didn't sign some player, yeah?
