  1. Was really starting to feel like we had tilted the ice before that goal. Blake had Thompson beat clean. The opportunities are there tonight. Just gotta keep pushing.
  2. Damn. Just an insane play. Outskated everyone on the ice.
  3. By the numbers, we kinda dominated that period. But, it definitely didn't feel like that. Especially towards the end.
  4. Alright, let's hope the second half of the PP looks better coming out of intermission. Looked like the same old limp ass PP we've been slinging around for years, now.
  5. Thanks Sourdif! That penalty couldn't have come at a better time. Caps were starting to make a push and we still haven't really found our game yet. Alright Jordo, whip it out...
  6. Big Time Bussi making his presence felt early. Teams look pretty evenly matched at this point. When it's this tight, glad we got Bussi back there!
  7. As for the arms race... The Canes are currently being linked to Quinn Hughes trade speculation.
  8. Sounds like the Oilers are trading for Tristan Jarry. It'll be interesting to see what the package is. Jarry is playing lights out. And, Pittsburgh is not exactly out of the hunt at this point. They don't exactly need to move him. Either way, if the deal goes through, this will be the first domino to fall in the the Stanley Cup arms race. If Edmonton (or any other team out west) is gonna have any chance against the Avs, they're gonna need a brick wall in net.
  9. That might've been the most intentional high stick I've ever seen. Some bitch poo tbh...
  10. Other than Aho's controller disconnecting in the middle of the ice, I really liked the way we played to close out the period. Win the 3rd, win the game.
  11. Miller with a beautiful play to breakup a breakaway. Bussi with a couple of great saves!
  12. Looking much better on faceoffs tonight. At least there's that.

Reilly and KK out, Nystrom and Janky back in.
  14. And, you're not wrong about the turnovers. That is a legitimate concern. But, I think he will cut down on those as he gets more comfortable. Learning when to pinch, when you have help and where your teammates expect you to be, is going to take some time. Maybe he never does, though. Burns and Orlov both struggled with turnovers throughout their times with us. But, both were net positives as players for the team. What excites me about Miller is that when he does turn it over, his ridiculous athleticism and skating ability allow him to, usually, negate his own mistakes. And, the stats seem to bear that out.
  15. NYT: Most Punchable NHL Faces Punch a guy in the NBA, and you’re getting suspended. Punch a guy in the NFL, and you’re getting ejected. Punch a guy in the NHL, and well, you might — might! — have to sit in the penalty box for five whole minutes. But don’t worry, because the other guy probably will, too. I'm, honestly, a little surprised no Canes even received votes. I know we have a bit of a rep for being choir boys to an extent. But, how does this face not earn, at least, one vote? You would think a perennial Cup contender, who plays a frustratingly stifling style of defense, would engender, at least, some contempt from their peers. This quote from the entry about Matthew Tkachuk is pretty illustrative, imo... "Not surprisingly, it’s the guys who tend to camp out in front of the opposing net who are running away with this one." I'm not saying that you have to be hated to be good. However, I do think there might be something to this. The only guys on the Canes that have any real net front presence are Staal and Jarvis. Jordo (and the Staal family at large) is beloved among NHLers. And, really, who could want to punch this face? As Joe Giglio would say, "The Canes have some assholes, but they need a few MFers!" Sure, we have a few grinders like Martinook and Carrier who can push through traffic. But, those guys aren't really moving the needle in that respect. Blake is showing some willingness and ability to fight for some of those dirty goals. Maybe, he can be that guy for us. (From left: Some Rando, Future Canes MFer) The elephant in the room here is #37, obviously.
