Hurricanes @ Predators 5/8-5/10 Regular Season Final Two
Stumpy replied to Harbingers's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Despite all our offensive firepower, we are still a D first team. Probably always will be under RBA. With that, we also rely heavily on our special teams. I don't think its a coincidence that or PP fell off at the end of the season as well. I hope that is a focus in practice this next week. -
Does holy water prevent aging now?

And ESPN will get 4 months of stories, a reality web series and probably a 30 for 30 to milk out of it. Definitely an ESPY! So glad sports media has fractured and diversified to the point they are almost irrelevant.

All those guys were at their peak athletic potential, not washed up 30 somethings. And do we really need to compare the athleticism required for basketball vs baseball? And Whitehead might've been signed for mentorship, but at least he had played the position before. Not only that, the defense looked like they had bought in to the culture a whole lot more once the crony lost his job.

And him signing this contract, 7 years out of football, learning an entirely new position at 34 years old, only proves the point. Football Jesus. If someone applied for a job with you, and since graduating college, his resume looks like this... - Fired 4x in 4yrs in chosen career. - Career change #1, gifted executive level job with no experience, earned no achievements or awards, contract not renewed. - Career change #2, gifted executive internship with almost no experience, never even left the mail room. ... are you hiring him to try another field he has no experience in over people who have been training in this field for a decade?

FTFY I think only the most cynical actually hate The Golden Calf of Bristol himself. For all the other "haters," it's the narrative, not the man. He comes across a little pretentious about his faith. But, I've never heard a negative sorry about the man. And, you can be sure if he had skeletons in his closet, someone would've dug them up by now. He seems, by all accounts, to be a genuinely good person. That said, when there were years long storylines debating if he was a better QB than Cam, you can't blame people for being annoyed by the fact that it was a question at all.

Yay, our 1st round draft pick is choosing the number a rapist used to wear before he changed it for a clean slate after the whole rape thing!

IMO the Vezina has to come down to Fluery, Vas and Ned. Special mention for Grubhub. -

Lmao... Adam Gold just said on postgame that Juuse Saros will win the Vezina this year. The only major stat that he is near the top of the league in is save%. He is tied for 5th. Out of those five, he is last in GAA and has the second worst point% in his starts. -

Rod just said that they haven't had a "real practice in a month." It was obvious tonight. I'd be willing to bet their will be a frozen layer of sweat an inch deep on the ice after practice tomorrow. -

It's definitely not ideal. And, leaves an ugly taste behind on an otherwise amazing season. Whether Rod planned to try to stay as healthy as possible or not, you can bet he's not happy with the effort these past 2 games. If you are in the game, play like it. -

Just shows how little negativity there has been on this board all season. It's been really cool having a little cove of the internet without all the typical pettiness. I've thought about making a thread on the main board to celebrate the Canes' historic season, but stopped myself each time. I didn't want to ruin our paradise. -

I'm not testy at all man. That's why I offered a friendly bet. I get why you want to see more fire out of the guys, I do too. I'm just not worried about it, yet. Now, Mraz is starting to worry me a bit. He might not have the best defense in front of him right now, but we all know how streaky he can be. -

It's not even just the taxi squad guys. We've had to play without star players all season long. They still couldn't beat us. -

Momentum is a real thing in sports. It can make a difference if teams are on the same level, talent and coaching wise. Not the case here. I'm not gonna worry about Nashville until they win a game that matters. They did not beat us once this season until we had nothing left to play for. -

Every Teams Biggest Steal From The 2021 NFL Draft

Who do you think heads the agency? Madden was a special attache from the department's creation, before being appointed full time Nickname Czar by Obama after he retired from the broadcast booth. -

Wrong. It's Focaccia now. I was actually appointed Under Secretary of Nicknames. I report directly to the head of the United States Nickname Bureau. The USNB was established as a division of the USPS as a part of The Patriot Act. Per USNB guidelines... "While no US Persons shall be allowed to amend one's own nickname, amendments are allowed under certain circumstances." "2.B.iii. In circumstances where nicknames are based off of weight, they may be amended for accuracy no more than twice in a 10 year period. 2.B.iii.a Reverse nicknames based off of weight are exempt from amendment clause 2.B.iii and can never be changed." Deonte "Focaccia" Brown has now been registered with the USNB. -

Nicknames can change, Karen! Gah! From 2018... "Whenever Deonte Brown calls or texts Bradley Bozeman, it pops up with his nickname, the one the redshirt sophomore offensive lineman has had since arriving at Alabama — “Cornbread.” It may be time for a new nickname, though. From the time I got his number, he’s been saved in my phone as that, as Cornbread,” said Bozeman, who is now with the Baltimore Ravens. “But, I mean, he’s more closer to a flatbread now.” Two years ago, the 6-foot-4 Brown arrived in Tuscaloosa weighing 400 pounds. Two years later, the Decatur native is down 70 pounds and may be the Crimson Tide’s long-term answer at left guard, a position that had been a consistent problem area for the Tide through the first half of the regular season." He was Cornbread at 400lbs and Flatbread at 330lbs. We drafted him at 345lbs, so I nominate Focaccia! -
The 2021 Discover Central Division Champions!
Stumpy replied to TrevorLaurenceTime22's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
We've wrapped up the division. It was never really even in peril. That's despite playing short multiple games due to injuries. Despite losing our starting goalie for the majority of the season to 2 different injuries. And, now we are getting healthy right in time for the playoffs. Ned and Mraz are both top 5 goalies when they are on the ice this year. The luxury to choose your goalie based on style in the playoffs is unheard of. And, we have the chance to go in as the #1 overall seed or choose our first round opponent. Regardless of anything else that happens from here on out, we already have few new trophy cases to build. Might as well put the pedal to the metal and try to bring home as many as possible. We dominated while beat up and injured. Healthy? I trust us against anybody. But, I trust Rod over everything so either way... 1620322841077.mp4 -
Just how good are we expecting Jaycee Horn to be?
Stumpy replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
Criticism of the pick doesn't necessarily equal criticism of the player. I still don't really like the selection. However, everything I have read about the player has me excited. We haven't had a corner this talented since John Fox, at least. Right or wrong, living up to the expectations of passing on Fields/Jones is going to be Darnold's job. If Sammy balls out, nobody will have a word to say about it. If Jones or Fields outperforms Hey Darnold, though, Rhule and Fitt are gonna feel some heat. None of that has anything to do with Horn. We didn't pass on Fields for Jaycee, we passed on him for The Ginger Avenger.
