It's not his politics. It's his use of racial slurs and lack of any remorse he has shown since. Yes, people can change and deserve a chance to do so. He got that chance and by all accounts, CHOSE not to change. Instead of showing contrition and empathy to those he offended, he has championed himself as some 1st amendment warrior fighting back against the "woke mob." As others have pointed out, Bear has dealt with racial slurs hurled at him throughout his hockey career. Now, he is teammates with a guy who would be high fiving those douchebags while telling Ethan to "lighten up Francis!"

Have there been any moves that haven't made us demonstrably worse?

So long Brock...

Afaik we offered the same aav but longer term. Probably tried lock him up @ $2.5 - 3 million per for the rest of his natural born life. Even though he is still underpaid, the shorter term gives him a chance to cash in at top value in a few years. Not to mention, he's in a win win situation now. If he drops off, well, he has the worst team in the league in front of him and everyone already saw what he did with a great team. If he balls out like I expect him to, he'll be the face of the league and the guy who brought the storied Wings back from nothing. In 2 years from now, Ned will be the highest paid goalie in the NHL while we keep dumpster diving for a netminder who can keep it under 4 goals/game

I don't think Ned wanted to sign here because he got a ridiculous lowball offer after playing his heart out for the organisation for years before reaching the pinnacle of his position. I would imagine that's why he went for a 2 year deal in Det. To get the hell out of Raleigh and hit FA for real asap.

Don trying to open Dumdum's wallet...

Tom Dundon: "Mr. Wadell... Tear. Down. This. Team!"

I'm in. Been looking to take my pops down to Spartanburg one last time before they move to Tepperworld. But, never been to fanfest.

Moton or Samuel.... would you change who got Tepper's bag?
Stumpy replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Now, if you replace Moton's name with Erving or Elfdude, we might have a conversation. Moton is not the only player we paid this offseason. -

No there wasn't. I'm the biggest Samuel stan on here and still think we should've resigned him. But, not over Moton. That's ludicrous! -
I'm not even mad about this move on its own. As others have said, he was probably never gonna get the reps he needed to develop here anyways. The compensation was week. But, I can understand that. It's the overall pattern of behavior since Dundon has bought the team. Sure, we have finally spent to the cap on paper. But, as we have seen with countless other sports franchises, cap money vs real money can be entirely different. Every other move that the organisation has made since he took over has been all about the bottom line. Raising ticket prices, raising parking rates, changing jerseys again, changing affiliates, limiting broadcast options; doesn't matter if it makes the fan experience worse as long as it lines his already fat pockets. As soon as word came out he was lowballing RBA and the rest of the athletic staff, I knew he could give 2 shits what happens on the ice.

Trading young talented players for cheap draft picks rather than giving them veteran contracts. 1sts cost more to sign... It's a tear down. Mr. Slumlord might throw a coat of cheap paint on when he's done, but he's taking this house down to the bones. "We could probably get something for those granite countertops. Rip em out and throw some formica in." I sincerely hope Centennial Authority didn't leave any copper pipes or wiring lying around the maintenance rooms.

As long as they leave the Martyman alone, I'm cool with it. Losing Nino would hurt too, but I just think Martinook is more important to the team than people give him credit for.

Hurricanes may not resign Nedejkovic
Stumpy replied to CanePantherHornet's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I honestly think a deal gets done. Dumdum already caved to Chancellor Brind'Amour once this offseason. And, I hope he's not dumb enough to let a talent like Ned walk out that door. Ned is not gonna get $10million per like Vas or Price. I don't know what my ceiling would be as a GM, but if I was Ned, I'm not taking less than 5.
