I imagine the depth chart will change by 1PM on Sunday. There is no possible way on this Earth that Cam Newton is NOT announced with the starters coming out of the tunnel. "At Quaterback, from Auburn Number 1 - CAM NEWTON!!!"
-
He looked incredibly quick last game. He was hitting the hole and getting to the second level of the D faster than I have seen him all season. You can tell hes super excited to have Cam back too.
-
Right. Some people need to go back and check his stats. He dropped 400 on Seattle early in the season. And he had another 350 yard game too. COVID whipped him for a month. Blame his lack of TDs a little on his awful tier weapons. Their Number 1 WR would be 3 or 4 here. Their starting RB would be on our Practice Squad.

This guy DEFINITELY drives an F-150.

Did anybody ever find out why CMC was in the blue medical tent on Sunday? Also it appeared that they were still working on his right hamstring throughout the second half. Is this going to be an issue for the rest of the season? He seemed to be OK, and continued to play, but damn my heart skips a beat whenever McCaffrey and injury are used in the same sentence.

Yeah, thats kinda what I had in mind. Only thing though is that his agent will probably try and talk him out of something like that, considering that hes due 18 million next year if he does nothing. But I do like the voidable years idea. Resign him to a 3 year 20 million dollar contract with an 18 million dollar signing bonus, which can then get spread out over 3 years instead of all at once. Am I talking out of my ass? Is this even possible?
-
Only thing I see is to somehow sign him to an extension with the express purpose of cutting him and spreading the cap hit over a few years as dead money. So, instead of 1 year 18 mil, they sign him to a 2 or 3 year, 18 million contract. Sam still gets his money, but we are able to mitigate the 1 year cap hit and spread it over a few years. Hell, I don't even know if something like that is possible. Maybe give him another 2 or 3 million to make it worth his while?
-
Yeah but its not like Tepper or the Panthers get any of that money. As far as they're concerned those tickets were already sold.
-
Yup. If Cam shows that hes a serviceable starter for the remainder of this season, its almost a no-brainer to lock him up for the next 2 or 3 years at least. Then, we would at least have our QB problem solved for the next few years. This would allow us to build out the o-line and retain most of our key players who are due up for deals soon. Having a Cam Newton playing at a high level could also be attractive for free agents out there.
-
Its now glaringly evident that Sam was the main, gigantic problem on our offense. Even the o-line looked like a real NFL line once Sam was out, and thats with a bum like Daley playing LT.
-
Guarantee that nobody in the NFL wants to face us moving forward. Our defense is healthy and flying around the field making plays all game long, the offense now could be extremely dangerous with Cam at the helm. I really do think we're gonna go on a run and make it to the playoffs now. Its amazing what one player can do to an entire team, when that player is a guy like Cam Newton. Everybody played harder on Sunday because of him.

Yeah, I like it. You're right. We're sitting here at .500 and now its going to be a mad sprint to the finish. We can still easily win 10 games.
-
We woulda had the number 1 pick in the draft if we had not beaten them last year? That does not seem right...
-
It was extreme hubris on the side of Rhule and Brady. They really thought they could magically fix him and turn him into a franchise QB.
-
I'm not scared of NO. By the time we play them they could very well be under .500. They've got all kinds of issues at the QB position. Trevor Siemen doesn't scare anybody. Especially not our defense.
-
I've never seen a QB have more intentional grounding penalties in my life....that and then him just chucking the ball into someones feet, or spazzing out and just throwing it up. Hes truly a terrible QB. Something in his head is broken and I don't think it can be fixed easily.

Im afraid Reddick is gonna take 18-20 a year after he gets 17 sacks this year…
-
Yup, something like 3 years 36 million? Although it might mean letting Donte walk…

He’s been a breath of fresh air for us. What a player. We have GOT to resign him in the off-season. Honestly it should be pretty easy. He’s home and his wife is home and she seems pretty damn stoked to be living in Charlotte again, hell she graduated from Providence after all!
