Cam Newton is washed as a high level NFL QB. Can anybody blame the Panthers for moving on from him after the performance he put on tape last season? The man started the entire season for New England, then threw 8(!!!) TD passes....and he looked quite pathetic most of the time doing it. Turns out the team was correct in parting ways with him. If Cam is still salty about that, then that is on him. And this is coming from one of the biggest Cam fans around.

What does that have to do with anything? Cal McNair is the same guy who traded DeAndre Hopkins for a sack of magic beans just last year.

You do realize that the first this year is a wash, right? We would be drafting a rookie QB at 8, so its like drafting Watson at 8 this year instead. Dont get hung up on this years first.

Paying too much for him? Have you seen Mahomes new contract? 35M + is the new going rate for a top flight, young franchise QB - which Watson DEFINITELY is. His deal will end up being somewhat of a bargain as the years go forward. Hell, we're stuck paying Bridgewater 20M. There are no deals for future Hall of Fame QBs these days. If you have the chance to get one - you do it. Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen are all going to get at least 30M a year in their next deals.

People around here hold too much value on a first round pick. You could end up with Kelvin Benjamin, Vernon Butler or Shaq Thompson (not that hes bad, but does he play at a first round level?)

In reality its only 2 firsts because we would most likely be taking a QB at 8 this year. So its like drafting Watson at 8.

Rich Gannon had Tim Brown and Jerry Rice to throw to. Kurt Warner had Marshall Faulk, Torrey Holt and Issac Bruce.

All we get out of any draft is one or 2 decent players. People around here put too much stock in a high draft pick. Sure the guy at pick 8 could turn out to be Luke Kuechly, but he could just as easy turn out to be Vernon Butler or Kelvin Benjamin. It’s a crap shoot any way you slice it. I want a team with the balls to take a risk, go all in and go get the franchise, 25 year old, potential Hall of Fame QB that for some crazy reason is now available vis trade. First round picks be damned.

Who released it?

When was the last time a big name player demanded to be traded, and they were not in fact traded? That ship has sailed, it appears this relationship is beyond saving. If there were not going to be a trade, they would not have released word that Watson officially requested one.

Yes. If we could somehow land someone like Stafford and still hold onto our first this year, we would have to seriously think about taking the top LT still available. That or Surtain at CB. Both a glaring needs.

Considering word has come out that he actually requested a trade weeks ago, I think they have probably already identified the team they want to trade him to, and are now working out the fine details. I expect an announcement that a trade has been agreed to very soon. I think the official announcement of his trade request is the marker that things are about to get very interesting. I really do think we have a great shot at landing him.

I have faith that we either land Stafford or Watson VERY soon. One thing is almost certain - Teddy 2 Yards will NOT be our starting QB Week 1 next year.

Off the top of my head, the Packers and Chiefs are the only teams to do this recently, no?
