Smitty has always been entertaining and I'm glad he's mended things with the Panthers. It was an ugly exit on both sides.

The worst with a clean pocket, the worst in the red zone…
jtm replied to AceBoogie's topic in Carolina Panthers
Who knows how Sam will do but he’s our guy for the time being and I’m pulling for him. if he doesn’t work out, this is a big second QB strike against our staff. Better hope Fields doesn’t go off. -
No way - Winston is the starter and this is gamesmanship

This team is in rebuild mode and I’ll worry about a legit back up QB once we are finished with the rebuild.

Rhule see’s Brady Christensen more of a RT or OG than a LT
jtm replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This staff going into this season without a LT is going to be a big problem and is very very concerning. -
I know and this is my concern. My only hope is Moton can slide over to LT and produce at near the same level. This would be amazing.
-
I’m pulling for him but lots of money doesn’t typically improve character.
-
I'm not convinced we have a starting LT on the roster for 2021. Christensen has potential, but it would not be ideal to start him in year 1. This is a big concern and hopefully the front office goes shopping before the season starts.

How Christiansen compares to other tackles in arm length.
jtm replied to panthers55's topic in Carolina Panthers
It is a strange metric, but arm length appears to be a big deal and why Christensen may or may not be able to play LT in the NFL. You would never think an inch would make this big of a difference but my wife might disagree. -
This offense is so loaded a 4th WR is going to barely get a catch...much less a 5th or 6th WR.

Morgan on our staff as assistant GM or in any role would be tremendous. He is a big reason the Bills are where they are.
-
It isn't a sexy pick, but I'm warming up to it. I guess this means they didn't like Slater for a LT. Having a starter caliber LT is a glaring need and I'm not sure how we are going to solve this because it seems most of the day one LT starters are gone.

Tepper wanted Fields. Let his guys make the football decisions
jtm replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I figured it wasn't a press release and if this is true, I hope Tepper is not dumb enough to ever say this to a reporter. Shame on whoever leaked this and especially to someone that runs an internet forum. Talk about a quick way to kill a new QBs confidence. -
Tepper wanted Fields. Let his guys make the football decisions
jtm replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
If this is true, whey on earth would Tepper put this out there. Yet another bone headed decision by him. -
Whatever we do, I hope it is Fitterer and his staff making the pick rather than Tepper. It rarely ends well when owners that have zero scouting experience start making personnel decisions.

Landing a franchise QB in the draft is such a toss up and is so important because QB salaries are outrageous now and getting a franchise QB on a rookie deal is such a big deal because you can overpay at other positions.
-
No we'll see how good of a offensive guru Brady is. Darnold is probably the same risk as any of the QBs in the draft not named Trevor Lawrence.
-
So we still have Teddy or did we unload him? If we unloaded him, I like the trade and if not, we have two average to below average QBs on our roster.

Tony Pauline: Panthers sleeper team to trade for Sam Darnold
jtm replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd trade a 3rd or 4th all day long for Darnold. Teams strike out all the time with 3/4th round picks and this is part of the game. If Darnold is a flop, we haven't given up much for him. I'd probably trade for him and still pursue one of the other QBs in the draft and have Darnold be our back up plan. You can't win in this league without a stud QB. -
Dig around and find the articles/quotes from Rhule and Brady on Bridgewater. They were big time in on him and very concerning to me. The delayed firings for Rivera and Hurney made zero sense to me. Everyone knew they were gone and we had a lame duck period that was wasted time.
-
I'm reserving judgment until Tepper has been around longer. So far I'm not a fan and I think the coaches he hired were a mistake and also keeping Hurney around was a huge mistake. Rhule and Brady were very high on Bridgewater and that is very concerning to me. They all talk big and I'm ready to see some results.

This is bad. When there is smoke there is fire. I’ll let it play out but this does not look good at all.
-
Agree and people forget that this signing came right around the same time that Kuechly retired out of nowhere. Panthers were desperate at LB and clearly overpaid and probably knew it at the moment.
-
Shaq is a solid LB. He isn't worth what we are paying him, but this isn't his fault. I'm sure Huddlers would decline a big raise and promotion at their job if they weren't up to the task.
