Sam Darnold will be Jimmy Clausen 2.0
Carl Spackler replied to PanthersGOATFan336's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sadly, it means high draft picks for the Jets and Jaguars. We're picking No. 1 and then waiting til the fourth round, right? Unless we trade down (which we will) for a couple second-round picks. -
QR Week 7: Robby Anderson, Pro Football's Worst WR
Carl Spackler replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's funny that, for months, I got flamed for pointing it out. Now it's suddenly accepted that Rhule's fake, used-car salesman, nepotism-fueled scam artistry is costing us success. -
QR Week 7: Robby Anderson, Pro Football's Worst WR

well thank God he went to Temple, otherwise we wouldn't get to enjoy it for three more years! -
Vinny Testaverde was respectable here. Peete wasn’t that bad. Both better than what we have.
-
There is literally no evidence to prove this. There’s even less evidence he can solve problems he creates.
-
Sure.

In all honesty, and I'm not playing "hindsight is 20/20," I would've invested no fewer than three draft picks in offensive linemen. It was apparent to those around the league that Fitterer went all panic-buy on Elflein and Erving. He was spending good money on guys whose production and potential had, at no point, justified that cost, and it made people worry we were bidding against ourselves for those acquisitions.

Kyle Allen is our Kelly Holcomb. Chris Palmer is a rich man's Matt Rhule. Actually, Rhule is more of a Browns-era Hue Jackson.
-
PJ Walker is our Spergon Wynn.
-
I think what's funny is given the money doled out to two FA linemen, that our OL in 2021 is worse than it was in 2020, when it was worse than it was in 2019.
-
It's likely to be exactly that, if our front office chooses to let the problem creator serve as the problem solver. I mean, rebuilds mean you gradually get better. We've steadily gotten worse since hiring Rhule. This roster, save for 7-8 players at most, is an abomination and the coaching staff is clueless beyond description.
-
I wasn't arguing your point. I was adding to it.
-
Now do the 2016-17 Cleveland Browns, and you have our next two years under Rhule.
-
"We need better quarterback play. We're targeting QB in the draft, that's for sure. It's a good year to have the top pick." - Rhule in March *drafts all defensive linemen and defensive backs again* - Rhule in April
-
Who hired him?
-
Good context for those still in denial.
-
I agree, it's annoying. The issue is there's a reasonable concern we're making a big mistake: leaving the people who caused the problem in charge of fixing the problem.
-
Where's he hiding it?
-
I can't wait to bump this at the end of the season when his record is 8-25.
-
Do you think that, in a rebuild, the team's record should get better every year?
-
I like Chuba and was stoked we got him in the draft. I think he'll be good, too. That said, this is probably the 2021 version of "Mike Goodson is A NFL Starter" thread from 2010.

Temple isn't in the ACC.
