  1. Ionannidis, despite being a Temple player, was a good pickup. And remember there's a second-round DE who's getting his shot alongside Burns this year, whether we believe he's ready and qualified or not. Generally worth kicking the tires on a year of starting a DL if you burned that high of a pick on him. At LB, losing Perryman sucked but he flat-out didn't want to play for Matt Rhule, and I wouldn't either. So no hard feelings there, plus he's on my second-favorite team now. Bringing aboard Littleton isn't a bad move, and Damien Wilson, before his off-field troubles, made decent sense. I think the defense will disappoint people this year if they expect it to be top-10, but my belief is that there are enough pieces that it won't prove right the people who think it's bottom-10.
  2. Teams around the league are watching Dan Morgan's work, and waiting to see him build the Panthers into a good team. If that happens and the record improves (0% chance under Rhule at least), he's either got to be promoted above Unfitterer, or he's going to another team as the actual GM. Teams have been high on Morgan for years now, and while the Steelers gig was early for him, he's got the chops to do it somewhere. May as well be here.
  3. I gotta think that by the end of Year 3 of the Rhule Era, y'all will realize that Tepper: 1) makes money regardless of result 2) will dime out the Carolinas in a heartbeat to get more money elsewhere 3) would rather lose with like-minded slob Rhule than win with someone else
  4. Tepper deals with it the same way he deals with anything team-related: by doing nothing.
  5. A rookie quarterback should give you reason to at least not hate everything yet.
  6. The same criteria he uses to defend Tepper is what he uses to attack Jordan.
  7. If not making the 10 longest playoff droughts yet is your bar for success, David Tepper's your man!
  8. I'm more intrigued this year than last, in spite of Rhule. He hasn't inspired a bit of confidence since beating the Lions two and a half years ago. His debacle the next week hasn't let up since then, but having a promising rookie QB on board and if not a better OL, a retooled OL, adds to some intrigue. Extending DJ was probably the best move of the offseason in addition to the two aforementioned decisions. Expecting the Panthers to ever win more than five games in a year is an unreasonable pipe dream, but there's at least a new cast this season as opposed to 2021.
  9. I definitely don't want to give up on Christensen yet. He only got decent time when 90% of the roster, coaching staff, fanbase and front office mailed it in for the year, as they always do by mid-November. Along with Ickey, Ian Thomas and Foreman, he's an offensive player I'm most intrigued about this season.
  10. That season-opening 28-20 loss with Darnold is hopefully not gonna be enough to get 16 more games with him under center. You know it: a 28-10 deficit well into the fourth, when Watson/Cleveland QB TBA throws a pick, Darnold slings it out of bounds on third down, Gonzalez hits a FG and Darnold drives down for a garbage-time TD to make it look far more respectable than it was.
  11. Honestly, the most united I've ever seen the Huddle (and it wasn't unanimous or anything, btw) was not with Jake Delhomme or Cam Newton. It was with Kyle Allen.
  12. @Zod@LinvilleGorge@CRA Hi, longtime listener, first-time caller. Can we please replace this cursed image on the right with one of Luke Kuechly or Thomas Davis?
  13. I'd rather have Cam than Baker or Jimmy G, because Cam's my favorite player of all time and his price would be lower than theirs. But realistically, it's unlikely to happen. Blame 1) the albatross that is Darnold's contract, 2) the shitshow that was an offensive line and coaching staff last season, and 3) *hide your eyes, kids! Your feelings are gonna be hurt!* David Tepper
  14. Just relax and accept the "Panthers' Mayfield: Comeback Player of the Year Candidate?" headlines in late September, and the "Mayfield Struggles Again, Panthers Drop Seventh Straight" headlines in December.
  15. For the record, a Baker/Corral punch is far better than a Darnold/Corral combo. That said, it's still not worth giving up more than a late-round pick and a few million dollars at the absolute most. Fitterer and Rhule, and Tepper for that matter, have a plan and stick to it -- until literally any new development happens, and said plan is right out the window. No need to tell me I'm being negative -- there's nothing but evidence to back it up.
  16. Sounds like the Texas QAnons about JFK Jr.'s reincarnation.
  17. Agreed. I'd like to see Brady Christensen and Ickey Ekwonu ball out this season.
  18. BUT MUH RHULE GONNA BE COACH OF DUH YEAR CAUSE HE WENT FROM 5 TO 5 WINS
  19. Wow, even Jeremy Chinn had a career year under Rhule. I believe that career year was what we in the biz call a "rookie" year. Helluva notch in Rhule's belt. Chinn never did that well under Rivera. Shaq had a solid year and performed to the level that, for years, I said he could. Donte Jackson's never really had a career year per se, but has flashed the most brilliance in parts of 2022 and 2018.
